Rex Jung is an adjunct professor of psychology at the University of New Mexico, a research scientist at the Mind Research Network, and a practicing clinical neuropsychologist in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He studies both brain disease and what the brain does wellāa field of research known as "positive neuroscience."
His research is designed to relate behavioral measures, including intelligence, personality, and creativity, to brain function and structure in healthy, neurological, and psychiatric subjects. He has published research articles across a wide range of disciplines, including traumatic brain injury, lupus, schizophrenia, intelligence, and creativity.
Rex was the President (2019-2021) of the International Society for Intelligence Research (ISIR).

Today's Guest: Dilip Jeste, M.D.
Dilip V. Jeste, M.D. is Former Senior Associate Dean for Healthy Aging and Senior Care and Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry and Neurosciences at University of California San Diego. He obtained his medical education in Pune, and psychiatry training in Mumbai, India. In the US, he completed psychiatry residency at Cornell, and Neurology residency at George Washington University. He was a research fellow, and later, Chief of the Units on Movement Disorders and Dementias at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) before joining UC San Diego where he retired in July 2022.
He started a Geriatric Psychiatry program from scratch at UC San Diego; it became one of the largest Geriatric Psychiatry Divisions in the world. Dr. Jeste has been Principal Investigator on a number of research and training grants. His main areas of research include schizophrenia, neuropsychiatric interventions, and successful aging. He has published 14 books, including his most recent book entitled āWiserā, over 750+ articles in peer-reviewed journals, and 160+ invited book chapters.
Ā He was listed in āThe Best Doctors in Americaā and in the Institute of Scientific Information list of the āworld's most cited authorsā comprising fewer than 0.5% percent of all publishing researchers of the previous two decades. Dr. Jeste has received many awards including NIMHās MERIT Award; Commendation for Dedicated Service from the Veterans Affairs; and awards from Society of Biological Psychiatry; APA; Institute of Living; American College of International Physicians; National Alliance on Mental Illness; National Alliance for Research in Schizophrenia and Affective Disorders; American College of Psychiatrists; International Psychogeriatric Association; Universities of Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and Maryland, and Cornell. He has also received Honorary Fellowship, the highest honor it bestows, from UKās Royal College of Psychiatrists; and Honorary Professorship from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, Lima, Peru.

Today's Guest: Dr. Gregory Scott Brown
Dr. Gregory Scott Brown, M.D., is a board-certified psychiatrist, mental health writer, and author. He is an affiliate faculty member at the University of Texas Dell Medical School. He believes we can work together to fight mental health stigma by having open and honest conversations about mental health. Dr. Brown is an advocate for evidence-based integrative care that includes incorporating exercise, mindfulness, meditation, and nutrition with standard of care treatments for mental illness.
Dr. Brown is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He completed a fellowship in integrative medicine at the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine, specialty training in general psychiatry at the University of Texas Dell Medical School, and received an M.D. from the McGovern Medical School in Houston. Dr. Brown is an alumnus of Rice University, where he received a bachelor's degree in anthropology, and Johns Hopkins University, where he completed a post-baccalaureate premedical program. Prior to his transition to medicine, Dr. Brown studied music at The Juilliard School in New York.
During his time in residency, Dr. Brown was awarded a SAMHSA Minority Fellowship by the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and he was later appointment to and currently serves on the APA's Council on Communications .
Dr. Brown believes in the therapeutic value of yoga, and he often writes and speaks about its benefits for mental health prevention and treatment. Dr. Brown resides in the Houston area with his wife and their rescue dog, Kai.

In today's episode of It Starts With Attraction, we talk all about how important sexual mindfulness is, how to practice it, and how it can increase intimacy between you and your spouse.
Today's Guest: Dr. Chelom Leavitt
Dr. Chelom Eastwood Leavitt grew up in Yakima, Washington with seven sisters and one brother. She attended BYU as an undergraduate in Economics and then went to J. Reuben Clark Law School. One the first day of law school Chelom met David Leavitt and they married after their first year of law school. Chelom practiced family and estate law for years and then returned to get her Masterās degree in Marriage, Family, and Human Development. In 2010 Chelom was invited to be a Fulbright Fellow in Ukraine and teach in Schevshenko University in Kyiv. She also ran a research study in Ukraine on how religious and secular traditions were associated with couple and parent-child relationship well-being.
Chelom Leavitt received her PhD from Penn State. She is an Assistant Professor at Brigham Young University. She studies healthy sexuality in committed relationships and focuses on how mindfulness during sex may be associated with positive outcomes for both men and women. Dr. Leavittās work on sexual mindfulness included an intervention to teach couples how to be mindful during sexual experiences. This research taps into how the sexual experience is full of meaning, emotions, as well as physical sensations.
Additionally, Dr. Leavittās examines how women experience and contribute to sex differently than menāand thatās great for both women and men! Dr. Leavittās recent publications include cross-cultural work on sexual mindfulness, womenās sexual response cycles, and a study examining the role of orgasm in sexual and relational satisfaction for men and women.
Chelom and David Leavitt have been married for 31 years and they have eight children ranging from 29 to 4 years old. Four of their eight children are married and these wonderful couples have brought Chelom and David four granddaughters.
