Dr. Judith Joseph brings an unparalleled wealth of expertise, with a distinguished educational background that includes a Bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry, Cum laude from Duke University. She earned her Medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and holds a Business degree from Columbia Business School. Dr. Judith completed her Adult psychiatry residency at Columbia University, New York Presbyterian Hospital, and the New York State Psychiatric Institute. Furthermore, she pursued a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at the Child Study Center at NYU Langone Medical Hospital and Bellevue Hospital.


As the Chairwoman of the Women in Medicine Board at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and a Clinical Assistant Professor at NYU Langone Medical Center Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Dr. Judith remains committed to advancing mental health treatments that are inclusive of diverse backgrounds and beliefs.


With a thriving social media community and numerous appearances on esteemed platforms, including panels with Oprah Winfrey, Dr. Judith Joseph is dedicated to making mental health accessible to all. Recently, she received a prestigious Proclamation award from the US Congress in recognition of her outstanding contributions to mental health work.

Malina Malkani, MS, RDN, CDN, is the pediatric registered dietitian, best-selling author, speaker, and single mom and top nutrition influencer dedicated to educating her combined audience of over 150,000 followers about infant and child nutrition.  Malina is a trusted expert in local and national media outlets and owns a nutrition consulting company and private practice that helps caregivers feed their babies and kids with confidence. She Joins us on the Vault to talk about how parents undergo stress and anxiety related to their children’s food allergies and ways to cope. She also talks about foods that are brain foods for children and babies because food is medicine.

Dr. Brian Kim, MD How Skin and Hair Health Impact Mental Health

Dr. Brian Kim is an award winning dermatologist and researcher known as The Itch
Doctor. His groundbreaking research has led to patents in itch molecules and he uses his platform to educate the public about different causes of itching. On this episode of the Vault we discuss how men and women experience itch differently and ways that skin and hair impact mental health.

Dr. Kim received his M.D. from the University of Washington, was a HHMI-NIH Scholar, completed residency in dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania where he earned a Master of Translational Research (MTR). The Kim Lab focuses on mechanisms that underlie skin inflammation and the sensation of itch as a fundamental, broad, model paradigm of neuroimmunology. Key discoveries include the first identification of group 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) in the skin of both mice and humans, novel contributions of basophils, ILC2s, and natural killer (NK) cells to skin inflammation, and unveiling how immune cells and type 2 cytokines/JAK signaling directly influence sensory neuronal responses. He has peer-reviewed publications, multiple NIH grants, designed pivotal clinical trials that led to novel FDA-approved treatments, and is an inventor of itch-centered technologies. His research has led to awards and funding from NIH, Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, American Skin Association, American Academy of
Dermatology, American Society for Clinical Investigation, American Dermatological Association, and International League of Dermatological Societies. He holds a patent for the use of JAK inhibitors for chronic itch. He is on the scientific advisory board for Abrax Japan, Granular Therapeutics, Recens Medical, National Eczema Association, and Cell Reports Medicine. I was a recent recruit of Dr. Siya, and I worked with Andy and 

Dr. Siya at the United Nations general assembly week events this year on several panels. We talked about supporting health professionals to use digital platforms to spread accurate information online and we also addressed topics like burnout and depression in healthcare professionals. Isis Asare : Sister SciFi and how fictional characters validate our mental health

Isis Asare is the CEO/Founder of Sistah Scifi. Sistah Scifi is the first Black-owned bookstore focused on science fiction and fantasy in the United States as validated by the American Booksellers Association. Located in cyberspace, Sistah Scifi is a national brand with over 50K points of contact. 

In February 2023, the first three Sistah Scifi Book Vending Machines were launched in California and Washington. In March 2024, Asare became the first African American Executive Director of the Aunt Lute Foundation, the second oldest feminist press in the country. I first met Dr. Jessi Gold at Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty Mental Health Summit on World Mental Health Day May 2024 in NYC. At this event, the US surgeon general, Dr. Vivek Murthy, Selena Gomez and Dr. Jessi Gold talked about the importance of the mind-body connection in mental health and the role that community plays in mental wellness.
