S5 E6: 3 Kids. 6 Moves. One Wild MLB Life with the Nidos

Season 5 · Episode 6

jeudi 22 mai 2025Duration 43:34

Imagine moving six times in one year… now add three kids under four to the mix.  That’s real life for  Danielle and Tomás Nido, catcher for the Detroit Tigers, former Mets player, and most recently part of the Chicago Cubs organization. In this episode of The Un-a-Parent Podcast, our host Katia Reguero Lindor sits down with the Nidos, dear friends and true parenting superheroes.

They talk about what it’s like to raise a family while constantly relocating, how they stay grounded through chaos, and the teamwork it takes to make it all work. Danielle shares her secrets for staying calm and centered, Tomás brings his signature steadiness, and together they reflect on what keeps their family strong on and off the field.

Meanwhile, Katia jokes that she’s one toddler tantrum away from hiding in the bathroom. (We’ve all been there. )

This is MLB parenting life—unfiltered, emotional, and full of love. A tribute to the mom friends, MLB wives, and parents on the move who remind us we’re not doing this alone, and that every meltdown, diaper blowout, and unexpected trade is a little easier when we have the right people around us.

Ep.039 - On the Spectrum with ABA/Autism specialist Daciné Brown

jeudi 19 septembre 2024Duration 44:10

Another example of the unwavering and unfailing power of a mother’s love. When Daciné Brown noticed her daughter displaying atypical behaviors, she trusted her instincts, combated dismissals from health care professionals until she landed on the right diagnosis.

As a mother to a child with autism, Daciné recognized the importance of providing her child with the necessary resources for development. Faced with limited access, and no insurance coverage, she took it upon herself to drive change. This led her to pursue an academic path to attain her ABA certification, leveraging this expertise to support her child.

This episode serves as a reminder to pause and help our communities, whether it be the autism community, our communities of color, and/or other minorities. It also prompts us to shed any ableist beliefs and biases, understanding that a diagnosis does not diminish a person's worth or capabilities. Let's stand together, embracing empathy and understanding, and work towards creating a more inclusive and supportive world for our children. It starts with us.

jeudi 12 septembre 2024Duration 34:35
