Season 4 · Episode 8
vendredi 19 décembre 2025 • Duration 54:53
I was absolutely blown away when today’s guest agreed to take time out of his crazy busy schedule to join me on the podcast. You might have caught him on one of his many speaking events during the year or seen some of his own podcast and social content, but for the next 50 minutes or so, he is my guest, and I couldn’t wait until next season to release this recording. So I am delighted to gift you this bonus episode of Season 4 of The Responsible Marketing Podcast with Kennedy, Email Marketing Geek and founder of Email Marketing Heroes, and author of his latest book, ‘Psych Stacked’, available on emailmarketingbook.com and Amazon.
Kennedy and I chat about
💊 Kennedy’s ‘anti sickness’ medicine for marketing,
🪄 the magic of psychology and email marketing,
📈 data ownership,
🧠 and our biases and how they can cause marketing hiccups.
💡 Kennedy also shares some incredible insights into buying trends and how to max your opportunities in a constantly shifting landscape,
🦄 and we bust some myths about some of the negative press AI is getting in terms of environmental impact and how to take responsibility, as well as some trap doors to look out for.
It was an absolute pleasure to have Kennedy on the podcast, and I really hope you enjoy our conversation.
Kennedy's book recommendation is 'Ready Fire Aim' by Michael Masterson (https://amzn.eu/d/5RlVVT7).

S3, Episode 5 - Miles Watkins, Founder of Stuff4Life and Xeroc
mardi 19 août 2025 • Duration 57:35
Today, I am joined by Miles Watkins, one of the founders of Stuff4Life and Xeroc, both incredible propositions addressing the circular economy in two of arguably the toughest industries out there.
I totally geeked out about tech, legislation and the human psychological influence on behaviours and attitudes to responsibility and the circular economy in this episode, plus while it’s vital to have welfare and environment at the core of a business, profit is equally as important.
Miles and I discuss
𝌉 the barriers of going against ‘the flow’,
🥪 the value chain change sandwich,
🙋🏼♀️ extended producer responsibility policy,
🤔 and where should we, as consumers, start in looking at whether our own efforts are carried on through.
The books Miles recommends in this episode are:
Michael Porter – Business Strategy https://amzn.to/3Id1d6p
Charles Handy – Understanding Organisations https://amzn.to/46yS1RR

S3, Episode 3 - Barrie McDermid, The Punctuation Show & About Small Business Podcast
mardi 1 juillet 2025 • Duration 01:08:01
This time I am joined by Barrie McDermid, star of The Punctuation Show and fabulous host of the About Small Business Podcast.
Barrie’s background in the education sector resulted in him launching The Punctuation Show to support children, their parents and schools in learning and enjoying the English language, not necessarily an easy feat!
Passionate about people’s backgrounds and how they have found their purpose, Barrie uses podcasting as a way to showcase small businesses and their owners to boost confidence and awareness and how talents that might not be obvious in a school setting, can create real impact throughout the wider world.
If you’re watching on YouTube, you might also spot an additional guest this week who is making their debut appearance. He’s very shy and doesn’t say much, but needless to say couldn’t avoid being included. Who said working with animals was difficult!
Anyway, on to the podcast, Barrie and I discuss
📚 culture of the current education system, & ideas around reframing
❤️ the importance of finding your passion and the difference it can make to school, community and work life.
👥 being relatable and ‘human’ to make a difference and create social impact
🤑 and we contemplate if life is similar to a game of Monopoly
You can connect with Barrie on LinkedIn or through The Punctuation Show. And treat your ears with his About Small Business Podcast on the usual audio platforms and YouTube, or find it on Facebook.

S2, Episode 7 - Jo Long, Founder of Jo Long Consulting and The Responsible Marketing Podcast
Season 2 · Episode 7
mardi 29 avril 2025 • Duration 34:44
Today it’s me in the hot seat!
I feel so proud of how this podcast has been received and wanted to thank you, my lovely listeners and YouTube watchers, for all your support, so I thought I’d complete Season 2 with a bit of a round up of why I started the podcast in the first place, what I hope it will give back, and some super easy tips to start your own organisation’s journey into becoming more responsible and how it can be used for truly impactful marketing.
Highlights (in my humble opinion) are:
⚓️ the story behind the podcast - I nearly ran off to join a ship...
💨 why being more responsible or embracing sustainability isn't just about carbon emissions,
🌟 accreditation - what's out there and why bother,
🤑 is talking financial gain contradictory in the sustainable practice space?
🧐 calling out investors and funders and asking if they know what they're looking for when they ask for sustainable business practices,
💡 and my top tips for any business getting started or wanting to progress on the sustainability road to responsibility.
Let’s get going then…
Thanks for listening!

S2, Episode 6 - Richard Linsley, Priors Mills C of E Primary School, Billingham
Season 2 · Episode 6
mardi 15 avril 2025 • Duration 37:39
This time I am joined by Richard Linsley, Head Teacher at Priors Mill C of E Primary School, based in Billingham in the north east of England.
Richard has been in education for over 25 years, moving from teaching to leadership roles, and just before this recording, I was lucky enough to take part in careers week at the school, talking with Year 4 pupils about their aspirations for their future as well as the pro’s and con’s of being employed versus self-employment and what to consider when setting up your own business.
The interest and enthusiasm of the children was a huge reflection on the school itself and what the staff, teachers, and Trust look to strive for every day.
Richard and I talk about
🏰 the fairytale story of how he embarked on his career in education,
🧑🧒🧒 how relationships, social values and community are vital in delivering and evolving to meet the needs of the children and their families,
💪🏼 ‘courageous advocacy’ and the ‘school of sanctuary’ pledge.
📚 pressures within the education sector and how the support, collaboration and alignment of all stakeholders is a huge advantage,
♻️ and how sustainable practices are becoming more day to day as a result of the children’s influence, as well as the business management side of school sites.
You can find information about Priors Mill C of E Primary School on their website or Facebook page.

S2, Episode 5 - Tony Underwood, Believe Solutions Ltd.
Season 2 · Episode 5
mardi 1 avril 2025 • Duration 01:05:03
My guest on this episode is Tony Underwood, Co-founder of Believe Solutions Ltd. an organisation championing positive outcomes for all stakeholders through social action and impact.
You might know Tony from his previous careers as an England Rugby Union player turned pilot, but now is bridging the gap between communities and the private sector through a new enterprise, Believe Solutions alongside business partner Liz Byrne, reinforcing the importance and benefits of fierce care.
I can’t deny the reason this came about is because I stayed at an expo to hear Tony speak specifically because I was a total fan from when he played rugby, and I am so glad I did. Believe Solutions is a fantastic organisation that is already bringing true and measurable positive impact and disrupting how we, as businesses, look at Corporate Social Responsibility, Social Values and Social Impact going forward.
We discuss:
🫂 How Tony’s career and upbringing created an innate quality for caring
🧱 Why it’s important for organisations to foster a culture of care for their employees and communities,
📖 The impact of true information transfer between the sectors and how the bad stories are equally as important as the good,
💡 And of course Tony’s new venture, Believe Solutions.
You can find more about Believe Solutions on the website, or find Tony on LinkedIn.
