We are a record store that has a heavy emphasis on the left of center / underground music of the world. Whether it be underappreciated or just has a niche audience, marginalized or just off the radar it's all of interest to us. With the show we'll generally have a localized focus. RSR PC 099 Zach from Graces Place
Episode 99
mercredi 11 mars 2026 • Duration 42:23
Zach Fontanez and his family run a coffee shop and sober bar in Meriden that holds events ranging from a silent book club to hardcore shows. He's also been in and continues to be in a bunch of bands. We thought all that was a great reason to get him on the podcast to talk primarily about Grace's Place which fills a void in the lack of all-ages venues in the area.
We told Matt from Killer Kin that Zach was going to be on and wrote this up about him:
Zach Fontanez is one of the most prolific, energy-filled, altruistic rockers to ever grace the Connecticut music scene. With a taste palette that spans all mutations beneath the rock 'n roll umbrella, this Punk's voracious appetite for creation germinates a scene and show setting rife with electric elation. A member of groups such as: The Human Fund, Minor Inconveniences, HATERS, and many more notable projects, Fontanez can be seen behind the kit, in your face with screaming into a Shure SM58, or swinging his stud-clad wrists in front of your favorite stage. Fontanez is a paragon of Raw-Powered positivity, patience, and the DIY dreams that most wish they could live. RSR PC 090 Eric and Shari of The Cellar on Treadwell
Episode 90
dimanche 1 juin 2025 • Duration 01:24:59
Shari & Eric joined us on the podcast this month. They are 2/3 of the owners (Pete had to run the bar at the time of recording) of The Cellar on Treadwell - a venue in Hamden, CT that has a bit of history (with a few different names in the past).
We open, as usual, with what we're listening to and move on to how The Cellar on Treadwell became a thing and the struggles of opening just before a pandemic hit and now striving with a fairly full schedule full of local and touring acts.

RSR PC 001
jeudi 31 août 2017 • Duration 01:34:26
Rick and Josh talk about their heavy summer listening and some upcoming records they feel are of note.
Ben Levesque of College Street Music Hall, Manic Presents & Premier Concerts is included in the initial conversation which includes his dealings with show production, promoting and all therein. The conversation veers in a few musical and personal story directions.
The initial conversation is wrapped up with a list of upcoming Connecticut area shows with some editorial notes by Ben, Rick & Josh.
Stefan Christensen (formerly of Estrogen Highs) talks about his new solo record, his C/Site Recordings music label, the upcoming Headroom record, touring Europe and general goings on around all that as well as some veering off points of discussion concluding with a fun story about a nice hunch that led to a great record score. We conclude with a snipped of a song from his new record.
More information on the shop as well as a link to our Discogs store can be found at RedscrollRecords.com. If you have questions or anything to contribute please feel free to email us at redscroll@gmail.com.

RSR PC 088 Ritual Pizza Co Jay and Kyle
mardi 1 avril 2025 • Duration 01:05:14
Jay Holmes and Kyle Holmes are brothers and 2 out of 3 of the owner/operators of Ritual Pizza Co. in Cheshire, CT (operating out of the Counter Weight Brewing space). Ken (the other owner/operator) couldn't make it for fatherly reasons.
We talk about what we're listening to. We talk about how deeply ingrained the music they listen to is to their business and how it informs what they do from the visual design aspects to just how they vibe while cooking and how they want to incorporate what they do into events at the brewery and beyond that.
We talk about the beginnings of the operation doing pop ups and now recently moving from Manchester to Cheshire. We're looking forward to having them there for our next record fair (in October)! Oh, and we talk about Manners, a hardcore band Jay was in, ever so briefly. We veer off in a few directions. Check it out!

RSR PC 085 Favorites of 2024
Episode 85
mercredi 1 janvier 2025 • Duration 01:58:01
We have our (Rick & Josh's) favorites of the year as usual. We have the Redscroll employee favorites also as usual. We've expanded beyond that even! Favorites from some folks in bands on our record label and folks we closely associate and collaborate on the regular! Friends! Most of those folks have recorded their own list and introduced themselves plus there's a few that have submitted a list that we've creatively included. You can go on the web post to peruse their lists (redscroll records dot com) as well. They've all but a couple (yet) been on the podcast too so we'll include their respective episode links on the site as well.
Happy New Year!
Redscroll Records Label Releases for 2024
We generally feel too close to them ourselves (Josh & Rick) to include the Redscroll releases as favorites, but of course they are. We wouldn't release them otherwise! So, firstly, here's a quick round up of what we've released this past year (and it's been a good amount of great stuff)!
In chronological order:
February 2nd: Intercourse "Egyptian Democracy / Bum Wine" 12"
February 2nd: Doom Beach / Chop Chop Chop Chop Chop Chop Chop (split) 12"
April 5th: The Knife Kickers "Nameless" LP
April 8th: Dirt Devil "Desert Moon" CS (SOLD OUT)
March 1st: Tongue Depressor & Austin Larkin "Landau Bar" LP
June 18th: Intercourse "Bag Fumblers Incorporated 2021-2024" CD
July 5th: Trance Macabre "Trance Macabre" LP
August 2nd: Dissolve "Burnt" CS/LP
October 29th / December 6th: Chained to the Bottom of the Ocean "Sisyphean Cruelty" CD/CS/LP
We've got a couple slated for next year already so we're not slowing down! Stay tuned for announcements on those!
A couple more we were associate with with exclusive colors this year too!
Kidnapped "Disgust" (DAZE) – would absolutely work with again, Lumpy is great. Kidnapped is great.
Craven Faults "Bounds" (Leaf) Electronic experimental ambient act out of the Yorkshire, UK. We were contacted by Leaf about splitting a color (Lime Kiln Grey) with Norman Records in the UK and to have a unique OBI strip and it came out great. The record is really a great record and we're happy to be associated with it and it's our first overseas collaboration of any kind so that's pretty exciting and we're absolutely chuffed with how it turned out.
FAVORITES LISTS!We've got our lists first. Staff picks follow. Then the rest will be in no particular order other than I will try to mix it up in the edit and put different ends of the spectrum back to back to keep y'all on your toes and hopefully interested in it all! Like I said before you'll be able to check them all out on our web post. Links, pictures, etc. up on the site. I'll assemble a playlist as well to publish with this so you can check all these things in more depth in your own time. That link will be on the web post as well.

The Redscroll Podcast is a monthly show (first of the month going forward) that works as a companion to what we do at Redscroll Records in Wallingford, CT USA. We are a record store that has a heavy emphasis on the left of center / underground music of the world. Whether it be underappreciated or just has a niche audience, marginalized or just off the radar it's all of interest to us. With the show we'll generally have a localized focus. We'll discuss upcoming releases and what is in our personal rotation at the moment. We'll talk about upcoming area musical activities. We'll talk to guests who have to do with all of the above. And we'll talk about specific dealings with the store. If you have input you're welcome to contact us through email (redscroll@gmail.com).
RSR PC 084 Ben Levesque of Manic Presents
Episode 84
mercredi 27 novembre 2024 • Duration 01:05:39
Ben Levesque joins us at the shop to talk shop about shows, concerts, gigs and such! Ben has been with Manic Presents for about as long as we've had the store now (over 17 years!), but recently made a huge jump from working essentially 2 full time jobs to dedicating all his time to Manic Presents in a yet to be named position. When it comes to running and booking shows he's a jack of all trades. We talk about some inside baseball - the inner workings of things without blowing up any spots.
We talk about music in general and we push out in all directions pertaining to Manic Presents and its venues and what Ben hopes to do with all of those and more!
You can buy tickets to all their shows at the store with no online extra fees (they are emailed and not physical, but no fees). You can also check them out online (and buy tickets) through their site:
