Mistaking Proximity For Intimacy In Your Relationship...

As life progresses, it’s easy to fall into a routine with your partner—going through the motions of daily life, handling responsibilities, and sharing the same space. But sharing space doesn’t necessarily mean you’re sharing a connection. 

By midlife we can begin mistaking proximity for intimacy, believing that just being physically present is enough to maintain a strong relationship. However, true intimacy requires much more than simply being near each other.

In this episode we dive into proximity versus intimacy, talk about our own experience and as ever give tips you can action to start making positive changes in your relationship.

Being a parent isn’t easy, and being a modern father carries its own set of challenges. Larry Hagner spent half of his childhood without a father figure in his life and the other half with toxic father figures that came and went.  

He made one decision as a young boy, and it was that his kids would know who their father was.  Larry knew firsthand the devastating effects of growing up without a positive father figure in his life and used this to create the Dad Edge community.

Larry is now a successful podcaster, best selling author and runs programmes for men to step up and be the best that they can be as a partner, a parent and man.

Throughout life I'm sure, like us, you've experienced many times when you felt happy and then something, without warning took that feeling of happiness away. It could be the loss of a loved one, relationship, job, home or even our health.

We can feel disappointed, sad and lost and our subconscious mind then hangs onto this and equates happiness with endings. Essentially it believes avoiding happiness avoids pain.

So it stands to reason we need to consciously practice being happy again - and know it’s safe to do so.

In this episode we explore what’s really going on, why there should be no guilt attached to feeling this way, and give you some tips on how to reclaim the happiness and joy you deserve…
