Traveling the world and coaching the game he loves. With coach Pete Kamman
Season 1 · Episode 23
mercredi 4 avril 2018 • Duration 59:14
In this episode of the podcast I sit down and chat with coach Pete Kamman from Elevated hockey. Pete's a guy who I honestly didn't know much about before sitting down and recording this podcast, but quickly found out how much passion he had for the game and some of the things that he has down to grown the game in non traditional hockey markets such India and Africa. He's currently tackling the hockey world in Montana and doing a great job in the process.
He's also a guy who's extremely passionate about growing the game at a grassroots level, and much like myself he really enjoys getting out there and working with the young guns and takes great pride in not only seeing them improve their skills but more importantly enjoy the game.
If you're into hockey and enjoy a good travel story then this podcast is for you! Thanks again for the time coach Pete! until the next one.
Coach Matt
Is training year round the best option for young players today. With former professional hockey player Per Mars
Season 1 · Episode 22
dimanche 1 avril 2018 • Duration 41:55
In this episode of the podcast I sit down with former professional hockey player and designer of the Mars Blade Roller Frame Per Mars.
Per grew up playing hockey in a small town in Sweden and then went on to play juniors in the United States and even got himself drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets.
A back injury forced Per to retire, but it also forced him to think about a new way of training and also a new way of making a living and spending his time, and thats where the Mars Blades come into the picture. We talk about how he came up with the original idea, his time playing hockey in the States and in Sweden, and he also shares some of his thoughts on kids training year round and how he used to spend his summers growing up.
This is a great episode with a great guy who really understands the game and what it takes to play at the top level.

What got you here won't get you there. How to grow your confidence as a player and a coach with John Kennedy Jr
Season 1 · Episode 20
samedi 24 mars 2018 • Duration 01:00:09
In this episode of the podcast I welcome back the first guest I ever had on the show John kennedy Jr. John is currently living, coaching and growing the game of hockey down under in Australia, and is one of the most passionate and dedicated coaches there are in the game today.
During our conversations we talk about what it means to engineer a "complete athlete" As well as share some of our thoughts and ideas about things coaches new to the game can do to grown their confidence and presence out on the ice.
Coaching isn't easy, it can be very challenging and even lonely at times, and for that reason I really enjoy having other intelligent coaches on the podcast and getting the opportunity to pick their brains and learn a little bit more about their own coaching styles and philosophies.
Thanks again to John for sharing his time and will we talk to you guys at the next one!
Take care,
Matt

There's more to life than just hockey. My conversation with professional hockey player Justin Barnett
Season 1 · Episode 18
dimanche 18 mars 2018 • Duration 01:11:29
This was an interesting one and I knew it would be. Justin is a kid who grew up playing hockey in Arizona. Moved up to Canada to play his Junior hockey. And then went on to play professionally in the US, Russia and now most recently in France.
He’s also a guy who has a lot of interests outside of hockey and I respect that about him. We chat about everything he’s into and what’s next for him. We also exchange panic attack stories and talk about how taxing chasing the hockey dream can be on one’s mental state and why it’s important to continually be aware of it and take care or yourself first.
Thanks again my friend for taking the time. I appreciate your work and I’ll see ya at the next one!
