JJ Birden, Athlete Entrepreneur - How Passion, Patience and Endurance Leads to Success - 056

Episode 56

mardi 3 septembre 2019Duration 25:27

"Success is an endurance race."

Want to have Success?

JJ Birden is an engaging communicator and a leading expert at helping individuals seize their opportunities in life.

Born and raised in Portland Oregon, JJ went to the University of Oregon where he was a two-sport star in Football and Track and Field. A 5'10", 157-pound wide receiver, JJ was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the 1988 NFL Draft and played nine seasons (Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, and Atlanta Falcons). To play nine years in a profession where the average players career last an average of 3.2 years is something special. Two of those nine years was with Hall of Fame Quarterback Joe Montana. He certainly was not the biggest, strongest, or fastest guy on the field, but he knew how to seize his once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and maximize his success through dedication and hard work.

In his presentations, JJ shares lessons from his experience as a small man in a big man's game. JJ's time in the NFL helped shape the message that he now delivers to audiences around the world. After seeing the successes and failures of others at the highest level, he developed a set of principles that others could follow to achieve greatness, no matter how they defined it or what they're pursuing.

In this episode, Nick and Camala talk with JJ about seizing opportunities, finding your passion, and dealing with self doubt.

Learn all about JJ and how you can seize opportunities to maximize your potential.

Brianne Theisen-Eaton, Heptathlete, 2x Olympian - Change Is Hard, But Change Is Good  - 049

Episode 49

mardi 16 juillet 2019Duration 35:43

"My life changes every 6 months, therefore my routine changes, my schedule changes, and then I have to change my workouts."

Adapting To Change

For 10 years Brianne Theisen-Eaton dedicated her life to winning an Olympic medal.  After graduating from the University of Oregon, Brianne went pro signing a contract with Nike and winning a Bronze medal in the Heptathlon in the 2016 Olympics.

During her professional career she became very passionate about food and healthy eating as it had a huge impact on her performance.  After working with a number of world-renowned scientists and sports physiologists she began to read books, educate myself on nutrition, and create healthy recipes for herself and her husband, Ashton, who was also a professional track and field athlete and a 2-time Olympic gold medalist in the decathlon.

After stepping away from the sport in 2016 Brianne went back to school to become a Functional Medicine Specialist and is working on her Board Certification in Holistic Nutrition. Today, she helps people address the underlying causes of their health concerns (instead of just treating the symptoms and “bandaiding” them) so that they can get well and stay well without unnecessary drugs or surgery. She uses diagnostic tools (lab work, food sensitivity testing, stool testing) to find the root causes and get a whole picture of what’s actually going on in your body.

She lives in San Francisco, California with her husband Ash, and their dog, Zora.

In this episode, Nick and Camala talk with Brianne Theisen-Eaton, 2x Olympian and 2016 Olympic Bronze Medalist in the heptathlon, about adjusting to a well-balanced life after retiring from her professional track & field career.
