Wes Craven's New Nightmare

Season 1 · Episode 336

vendredi 6 septembre 2024Duration 01:53:08

This week we are talking about one of the most clever sequels ever to hit the sequel screen... Of course, you know it's Wes Craven's New Nightmare. This sequel really flips the script on the audience and it's epic. We talked about the people who play themselves when do people sleep, did this movie happen, did a prop hand cross the street, and more. Lots of fun.

Watch the unedited video at sequelsonly.com/NewNightmare or on our youtube channel.

Next is no interview because we are using a Hall Pass to cover Friday the 13th 2009 which will be a blast to discuss

SFX Make-Up Artist Bill Hunt (Jason Goes to Hell/Lord of the Rings Trilogy)

Season 1 · Episode 335

vendredi 30 août 2024Duration 01:15:59

The next sequel we will be discussing is "Wes Craven's New Nightmare". For it, I chatted with SFX Make-Up Artist Bill Hunt. Bill talked about growing up outside of Nashville and how going to the movies like Jaws and King Kong at a young age with his parents, reading Fangoria Magazine at the newsstand, Howard Berger, Dick Smith's Advice, Jason Goes to Hell, New Zealand, and more. Tom Parsons was a local make-up artist in Nashville who helped out Bill at the age of 13 and was an important part of Bill's journey.  I loved Bill's journey and his passion for life.

Rambo III

Season 1 · Episode 326

vendredi 28 juin 2024Duration 01:28:59

This week we are talking "Rambo III". This is the Rambo sequel that jumps the shark with Rambo delivering one-liners and having a sense of humor, which is far from the original. This sequel gave us no subtitles, showed us how horrible Troutman was, some great action, a tank vs a plane, and more.

Watch the unedited review at sequelsonly.com/Rambo3 The next sequel we are discussing is "The Trial of the Incredible Hulk." For It, I chatted with Actor Mark Acheson. Mark talked about growing up in Canada and how the acting bug bit him, his voice-over work, his memorable mail room scene in "Elf", and a ton more.

Cinematographer Stephen Andrich (NFL Films/Cobra Kai/Return of the Killer Tomatoes)

Season 1 · Episode 236

jeudi 22 septembre 2022Duration 01:01:54

The next sequel we are reviewing is "Return of the Killer Tomatoes” and for it, I interviewed Cinematographer and Camera Operator Stephen Andrich.  Stephen talked about how he went from shooting college sports to landing a gig with the NFL, it is an awesome story.  He also talked about Return of the Killer Tomatoes, George Clooney, Tom Cruise, Adam Sandler, Cobra Kai, and more.

The Purge Anarchy

Season 1 · Episode 235

jeudi 15 septembre 2022Duration 01:34:37

This week we are talking "The Purge Anarchy" which was a movie sequel that we didn't expect (because for some reason we that it was over-the-top gorey).   This movie had some dreaming of more Frank Grillo-led action flicks because if he was around in the 80s/90s at this age, he would've led so many action flicks.  The Purge Anarchy had us discussing the odd rules of the purge, how you find your purge posse, who cleans the dead bodies, better ways to hide in your home, and lots more.

This is a video review you can watch at sequelsonly.com/purgeanarchy

The next sequel that will be discussed is The Return of the Killer Tomatoes. This movie had me interviewing the cinematographer from it Stephen Andrich who had some fond memories of working on this one with George Clooney.  Then Stephen's career changed gears and he worked for NFL Films and actually lived in New Jersey when he did.  Stephen's recent camera credits include Cobra Kai, The Walking Dead, Leverage, and more.  I loved the origin story of his start in working for the NFL, one of those right-place-right-time stories for sure.

Actor Jasper Cole (Macgruber/Hansel & Gretel)

Season 1 · Episode 234

jeudi 8 septembre 2022Duration 01:30:20

The next sequel we are reviewing is "The Purge: Anarchy” and for it, I interviewed an actor who knows a thing about playing a bad guy in Actor Jasper Cole.  Jasper's career spans over 40 years, which is insane and a testament to his passion for his craft.  Jasper talked about being in Jason Takes Manhattan, working with Dee Wallace, finding his niche as a bad guy, and lots more. Jasper plays a bad guy but is the nicest guy ever and you will love him.

This has an unedited video interview you can watch at sequelsonly.com/jaspercole

The series he is on "The Family Business" on BET + starring Ernie Hudson

Next up is our review of "The Purge: Anarchy", which is free on Peacock.  Rad movie with a pretty awesome cast.

Re-Release: A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 The Dream Master

Season 1 · Episode 233

jeudi 1 septembre 2022Duration 01:01:01

This is our last Re-Release and it is quite the goodie.

We are so excited to finally have the chance to dip our toes into the pool of Nightmare on Elm Street sequels and no better place to start than with Part 4 The Dream Master.  We talked broke down all the iconic kills, Freddy's one-liners, how they get rid of the dream warriors pretty quick, Alice's amazing character transformation, and of course the karate fight involving "invisible" Freddy. We couldn't discuss a horror legend with just the two of us, so we are joined by Amy Koto to help break it down.

This is a video review you can watch at sequelsonly.com/noes4

The next sequel that will be discussed is The Purge Anarchy. This is the only Purge movie I have seen in the series and man it had an awesome cast.  Frank Grillo, Carmen Elojo, and the late Michael Kenneth Williams.  It wasn't what I was expecting and loved it.  For it, I chatted with Actor Jasper Cole.  Jasper has been an actor for years and is now the go-to bad guy that you have seen in "MacGruber" and so much more.  Jasper was a sketch performer for The Tonight Show w/ Jay Leno, was in Jason Takes Manhattan, and has had guest spots on classics like "Married w/ Children", "Everybody Hates Chris", and more.  Jasper is the opposite of the bad guy he plays on screen and had great stories from his career.

Re-Release: Actress Lisa Wilcox (A Nightmare on Elm Street 4&5)

Season 1 · Episode 232

jeudi 25 août 2022Duration 47:22

This week's Re-Release has us looking back at the time we welcomed a Horror legend and one of Doug's favorite final girls in horror history, actress Lisa Wilcox.  Lisa starred as "Alice Johnson" in A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 & 5.  We talked about her falling on stage in junior high doing a play, moving to California for High School, John Stamos, Freddy Krueger, Brady Bunch, Star Trek, and lots more.  I love hearing about moments when folks get discovered and Lisa's is one of my favorites so far.

Lisa's IMDb https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0928244/

I know I wrote this two weeks ago, BUTTT this should be our last Re-Release sequel lovers, my son is due to come home soon, so then Jamie and I will be back on our sequel-watching adventure.

Re-Release: Mad Max 2 aka The Road Warrior

Season 1 · Episode 231

jeudi 18 août 2022Duration 01:13:09

This week's sequel has us traveling to a dystopian future where a young Mel Gibson (Mad Max) will do just about anything for gasoline. This movie has an all-star cast with Mel Gibson and Vernon Wells.  We, of course, talked about Jason Voorhees sorry I mean Lord Humongous, Feral Kid (What the hell was he), us both falling head over heels for Warrior Woman, how insane Vernon Wells is in this movie, and lots more.  Mad Max 2 was our highest Rotten Tomatoes score yet at 93%.

This is also available to watch in video form (Doug has an epic costume of a Mad Max 2 character) here sequelsonly.com/madmax2

Next up is our last Re-Release before my son, fingers crossed, comes home.  This is a flash back to two great episodes that include an interview with Actress Lisa Wilcox (Alice Johnson from Nightmare on Elm Street 4/5) and our review of Nightmare on Elm Street 4 The Dream Master.

Re-Release: Actor Vernon Wells (Commando/Mad Max 2/Innerspace)

Season 1 · Episode 230

jeudi 11 août 2022Duration 01:04:16

When it comes to movies you aren't supposed to be rooting for the bad guy, but how could I not root for this week's guest Vernon Wells?  Vernon played legendary bad guys in Mad Max 2 as Wez and in Commando as Bennett. Vernon has quite the origin story because he had ZERO interest in being on camera, he wanted to be behind it. Luckily a director stuck him front and center, the rest is history.  Of course, we talked about Weird Science, Joel Silver, Arnold Schwarzenegger, his start in acting, his love for being behind the camera, and so much more.  We talked about Commando a lot because his role as the villain Bennett is quite legendary to Jamie and me.  Enjoy this amazing chat

This is a video interview you can watch at sequelsonly.com/vernonwells.

This should be our last Re-Release sequel lovers, my son is due to come home soon, so then Jamie and I will be back on our sequel-watching adventure.
