This week we are talking "The Purge Anarchy" which was a movie sequel that we didn't expect (because for some reason we that it was over-the-top gorey).   This movie had some dreaming of more Frank Grillo-led action flicks because if he was around in the 80s/90s at this age, he would've led so many action flicks.  The Purge Anarchy had us discussing the odd rules of the purge, how you find your purge posse, who cleans the dead bodies, better ways to hide in your home, and lots more.

The next sequel that will be discussed is The Return of the Killer Tomatoes. This movie had me interviewing the cinematographer from it Stephen Andrich who had some fond memories of working on this one with George Clooney.  Then Stephen's career changed gears and he worked for NFL Films and actually lived in New Jersey when he did.  Stephen's recent camera credits include Cobra Kai, The Walking Dead, Leverage, and more.  I loved the origin story of his start in working for the NFL, one of those right-place-right-time stories for sure.

The next sequel we are reviewing is "The Purge: Anarchy” and for it, I interviewed an actor who knows a thing about playing a bad guy in Actor Jasper Cole.  Jasper's career spans over 40 years, which is insane and a testament to his passion for his craft.  Jasper talked about being in Jason Takes Manhattan, working with Dee Wallace, finding his niche as a bad guy, and lots more. Jasper plays a bad guy but is the nicest guy ever and you will love him.

We are so excited to finally have the chance to dip our toes into the pool of Nightmare on Elm Street sequels and no better place to start than with Part 4 The Dream Master.  We talked broke down all the iconic kills, Freddy's one-liners, how they get rid of the dream warriors pretty quick, Alice's amazing character transformation, and of course the karate fight involving "invisible" Freddy. We couldn't discuss a horror legend with just the two of us, so we are joined by Amy Koto to help break it down.

This week's sequel has us traveling to a dystopian future where a young Mel Gibson (Mad Max) will do just about anything for gasoline. This movie has an all-star cast with Mel Gibson and Vernon Wells.  We, of course, talked about Jason Voorhees sorry I mean Lord Humongous, Feral Kid (What the hell was he), us both falling head over heels for Warrior Woman, how insane Vernon Wells is in this movie, and lots more.  Mad Max 2 was our highest Rotten Tomatoes score yet at 93%.

When it comes to movies you aren't supposed to be rooting for the bad guy, but how could I not root for this week's guest Vernon Wells?  Vernon played legendary bad guys in Mad Max 2 as Wez and in Commando as Bennett. Vernon has quite the origin story because he had ZERO interest in being on camera, he wanted to be behind it. Luckily a director stuck him front and center, the rest is history.  Of course, we talked about Weird Science, Joel Silver, Arnold Schwarzenegger, his start in acting, his love for being behind the camera, and so much more.  We talked about Commando a lot because his role as the villain Bennett is quite legendary to Jamie and me.  Enjoy this amazing chat

The next sequel we are reviewing is "Friday the 13th A New Beginning” and for it, I interviewed our first final girl from the franchise, Actress Melanie Kinnaman who played "Pam Roberts".  Melanie talked about her journey to being a final girl that started in western Massachusetts with a stop along in NYC where she was a dancer and then started acting in plays.  She even played "Cheryl Ladd" in a Saturday Night Live sketch about the "Battle of the Network Stars" back in the late 70s then landed a role on General Hospital followed by some commercial work.  Melanie talked about getting Friday the 13th A New Beginning, a role she had in "Best of the Best" starring Eric Roberts that got changed, upcoming projects, and lots more.

This week we are talking "Piranha II The Spawning" and this just so happens to be our second James Cameron-directed flick this year... YEP, James Cameron directed this one, well 75% of it until he was fired for taking too many shots. For this one, we brought back our buddy Nick, who has helped us make sense of Munchie, Ghoulies, and more.  Nick came prepared with some behind the scene stories and even noticed some parts of Piranha II that would show up in later James Cameron flicks.  Piranha II had us discussing flying fish, boating a boat, an odd relationship with Anne and her son, dynamite fishing, and more.

This movie is the Halloween III of the Jason Voorhees saga because it tried something new that a lot of fans love and hate, it's quite the lightning rod.  I was lucky enough to interview the Final Girl from it, our 1st Friday the 13th Survivor, Pam Roberts herself actress Melanie Kinnaman.  Melanie talked about growing up in Boston, becoming a dancer in NYC, doing broadway and off broadway, her big-time commercials she did, landing Friday the 13th, a wild story about "Best of the Best", and more.  I loved talking to Melanie about her career and we had a lot of laughs.

The next sequel we are reviewing is "Piranha II: The Spawning” and for it, I interviewed Actress, Singer, and Activist Carole Davis.  Carole grew up with her first love of singing where she was singing all over the world, but then after going to an audition just to support a friend, she was called in to audition and got it. The movie didn't matter because she chose most of her roles based on where they were being shot.  Carole was in so many great movies like Mannequin, The Flamingo Kid, The Shrimp on the Barbie, and more. But, I also enjoyed hearing about her singing career which includes stories involving Prince, getting the job as singing the end credit song for "Love Potion no. 9" (I linked it below for you to listen to because it's awesome), and more.  Amazing chat!

This week we are talking "The Last Sharknado: It's About Time" which I went thinking this was the 3rd film in the series, but sadly mistaken.  This is a sequel that took a sorta joke and turned it into a franchise that people love, Jamie not so much.  We discussed the main plot of the movie is wrong, the time traveling, the many borrowed movie quotes, Dee Snider crushing it, and so much more.  These sharknados seem to follow Fin and the gang, but you be the judge.

This week, we discuss "Jason X" aka Jason Goes to Space.  It's Friday the 13th this week, so we are required by sequel law to review one and we picked a doozy. I admittedly never gave this one an honest chance when I rented it at 15 years old, but I had a lot of fun 20 years later.  We discussed the reason this movie is set in the future, possible other plots for future installments, the terrible professor, nano spiders, the epic kills, and more.

Stuart Pankin is an actor who grew up in Philadelphia and went on to be in all your favorite tv and movies growing up like The Dirt Bike Kid, Mannequin 2 (which we are covering), Arachnophobia, Not Necessarily the News, Knots Landing, the voice of Earl Sinclair on The Dinosaurs, and more.  Stuart was a hoot and loved talking about how his journey to Hollywood began.

Peter Jason is an actor who has worked with everyone from John Wayne to Spielberg to Donald Pleasance to James Garner and he loves talking about the old Hollywood.  If it wasn't for a girl he had a crush on senior year, he would have never tried out for the school play and it was instant love.  Peter's credits include They Live, Gunsmoke, Deadwood, Arachnophobia, Escape from LA(which we are covering), Baskets, and more.   Peter and Stuart became dear friends on the set of Arachnophobia and have been buddies ever since.

The next sequel we are reviewing is "Jason X” and that has given me the chance to interview Script Supervisor Daniela Saioni, who is the 1st script supervisor I have ever chatted with.  Daniela is from Toronto and had an interesting journey to becoming an internationally known script supervisor which was inspired by Jim Morrison, started with a job in editing, Boondock Saints, and so much more.  I loved picking her brain about what a script supervisor does and IT IS A LOT.  Great chat.

This week we are discussing "The Predator" from 2018 which gave us a lot to discuss. This movie had so many plots that we had to bring back our horror sequel expert Chris Egan for an eighth time to break it all down.  We discussed the tropey bullies who say "juicy ass burger", the many different Predators, the use of medical disorders for low brow humor, Jacob Trembley outkilling The Predator, and more.

The next sequel we are reviewing is "The Predator” and I am interviewing an actor who I have in so much over the years in Garry Chalk like "The Fly II", "Freddy vs Jason", "Stargate SG-1", and more.  Plus, Garry's voice credits include so many of my childhood favorites like "Camp Candy", "GI Joe", "Transformers", "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog", and more.  I loved that Garry only pursued a career in acting because of a stock market crash and that made him leave finance.  I loved hearing about how "The Fly II" and the role of "Scorby" was a turning point in his career.  Garry also talked about how voice acting started, Freddy vs Jason, Charles Bronson, taking care of his fans, and more.  Great chat.

Playball!  Baseball is back and to celebrate, we are discussing "Major League Back to the Minors".  This movie turns the reigns of the franchise over to Scott Bakula, who is aging minor league pitcher Gus Cantrell.  This sequel had a lot for us to discuss like the switch from the Indians to the Twins, Ted McGinley's insane portrayal of "Huff", the confusion that a AAA team is signing aging veterans off the street (and from his mini-golf course), why tennis comedies wouldn't work, the lack of players with names, and more. Scott Bakula and Ted McGinley have such a rivalry in this movie kinda like Jamie and me while discussing this one.

The next sequel that will be discussed next is "The Predator".  For this sequel, I interviewed actor and voice actor Garry Chalk.  Garry is someone who I KNOW you have heard over the years or have seen because he has over 400 credits.  Garry's acting career took off after his role of "Scorby" in "The Fly II" and from there he went on to be in Freddy vs Jason, Superbabies: Baby Geniuses II, The Sea Wolf w/ Charles Bronson, and lots more.  Plus he's lent his voice to The New Adventures of He-Man, Reboot, Sonic the Hedgehog, Megaman, and a ton more.  Great chat about his career and so many great memories that he shared with me.

The next sequel we are reviewing is "Major League: Back to the Minors” in honor of baseball season starting. I had the pleasure of interviewing Cinematographer Charles Papert who worked as a Steadicam operator on "Major League: Back to the Minors" and it was his 1st big studio movie.  Once Charles had his mind on a career in film, he was determined and you will hear a story that shows that.  Charles was a Steadicam operator on "American History X", "Office Space", and more.  Then he went on to be the Cinematographer on "Scrubs", "Key & Peele", "Kenan", and lots more.  Great chat that includes my dad's favorite song Foreigner's "Urgent".

Rushmore" of movie sequels and I was lucky enough to interview Actor Ricco Ross about his career.  Ricco played "Private Frost" in the movie and had so many great behind the scene tidbits to tell plus we talked about his role of "The Cuban" in "Death Wish 3".  I loved Ricco's origin story and how a teacher during his freshman year of high school pushed him to do the school play, which led to an amazing career.  Ricco had stories about Ken Wahl, Lee Marvin, Charles Bronson, Stanley Kubrick, James Cameron, Whitney Houston, and more.  Awesome chat!

Rushmore of movie sequels.  I was lucky enough to interview Ricco Ross who played Frost.  Ricco and I 1st connected when we were doing the "Death Wish 3" reunion for Charles Bronson's 100th birthday, but he had something come up, but we did it.  Ricco is an actor, who during his first year out of college he booked reoccurring roles on "Hill St. Blues" & "The Young & the Restless". Soon afterward, feeling type-cast, he decided to study Shakespeare for a year in England at the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA). That year turned into 13 years of living abroad. There he got "Dirty Dozen 2" and became friends with Ken Wahl (great story about Ken), "Death Wish 3", "Aliens", and actually got "Full Metal Jacket", but that’s a story you gotta hear.  Great chat.

This week we are discussing "The Hangover Part III" and this is the conclusion to one of the funniest comedy franchises ever that elevated the 3 actors to stardom, individually in their own way. This movie needed to figure out a way to finish a franchise, which is hard to do, but they perfectly had some great callbacks to the first two films and introduced John Goodman as the villain. We discussed Alan's love for Phil, "Fluffers, Buffers, and Farters", Chow becoming an action star, and so much more.

As the daughter of actress, Marie Harmon (Gunsmoke/The El Paso Kid) from a young age Sondra knew she wanted to be a performer.  Sondra talked about making her dream happen, working with John Wayne, her "Slice 'em, dice 'em" movies, guest-starring roles on every big TV show, how she met her husband, and so much more.  Sondra was a blast to chat with and I know you will love her.

This week we are discussing "Batman Forever", which is the perfect way to kick off 2022.  Carrey, Lee Jones, Kilmer, Kidman, O'Donnell, and more fill out this star-studded cast.  This is more comic book looking than its predecessors, but a lot of fun to break down.  We discussed some of the "almost" casting decisions if anyone can turn on the bat signal, Commissioner Gordon being the worst, the Riddler's odd change throughout the movie, and so much more.  We had guest reviewer Shorror join us to analyze this Batty sequel.

The next sequel will be our 200th sequel and we are covering a sequel with 2 horror icons, Freddy Vs Jason.  I was lucky enough to interview Jason himself, Ken Kirzinger who is a legend in the stunt world.  He also was the stunt coordinator for Jason takes Manhattan and actually was the cook that Jason killed in the NY diner scene.  Ken has done everything from stunt driving to a gun spinner, hell he even was a stand-in for John Lithgow in a movie.  Great stories about starting in the stunt industry just as filming started to boom in Vancouver, Canada.  Great chat.

The next sequel we are reviewing is "Batman Forever" and this week we are talking with Special FX Artist Eddie Yang.  Eddie's story is so inspirational because after falling in love with makeup effects as a kid, he knew what he wanted to do and made it happen.  Eddie was such a fan of Rick Baker after seeing "American Werewolf in London", then years later worked for him and with him and are still friends to this day.  I also loved hearing about how the industry and Eddie himself transitioned once computers came into play.  Great chat.

The next sequel we are discussing is a sequel that might have the greatest sequel title ever with "House 2: The Second Story." For It, I chatted with Set Decorator Don Diers. Don's story of getting put into the Art Department all happened because he left out his drawing while working in the office on a movie, that movie was A Nightmare on Elm Street. The next sequel we are reviewing is "Batman Forever" with a pretty epic cast to follow up "Batman Returns.  I interviewed special fx artist Eddie Yang who was a sculptor and painting on this one, but this is one of many EPIC credits that Eddie has.  Others include Predator, Gremlins 2, Return of the Swamp Thing, Avatar, and so much more.  Eddie’s story about just dropping into local effect studios at the age of 16 is one you will love, plus how he connected with and started working with Rick Baker is a goodie too.  Plus Eddie remembers the late great (and former guest) Tim Lawrence who gave Eddie one of his first jobs.  Amazing chat.

Happy Holidays! The next sequel we are reviewing is "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" and this week we are talking with Actress Miriam Flynn.  Miriam is most known for her role as "Cousin Catherine" in the "Vacation" Franchise, but her voice acting credits show that you have heard her voice over the years on all your favorite cartoons.  Miriam talked about her improv days at "Second City", how she landed "Cousin Catherine", voice acting, and so much more.  Great chat.
