The night of February 24, 1978 did not appear to have been out of the ordinary in Chico, California. But The California State University at Chico held a basketball game from which five of it’s attendees would walk into mystery and intrigue that would still be debated over four decades later. The events that would unfold after the friends got into their car that night have remained a closely held secret to a small patch of wintery woods in Yuba County. Ahhh, hotels. Our home away from home. Our shelter on long (and short) travels. From the smaller stays, off the beaten path to the larger more extravagant ones meant to provide an experience all of their own (thank you Disney), hotels span the emotional gambit of being “just a place to sleep” all the way to making a vacation totally immersive. With so many people coming and going, stories are as plentiful as the amount of people that grace the rooms of any given inn. It shouldn’t be surprising that with so much traffic, that any hotel with any kind of age, would have some stories of the paranormal variety. Our story today should exceed your expectations, considering it’s known as America’s most haunted hotel. In 1972, much of the east coast of the United States felt the wrath of Hurricane Agnes. The most costly hurricane of the time, widespread flooding pushed many from their homes. Interestingly enough, Agnes would be of interest to a few different paranormal events. While the Smurl Family will not be covered in today's show, the storm would force the family from their home and begin them on a long hard paranormal road of their own. No, today’s topic is much more bestial in nature. We sure do love your upright walking hairy friend from the pacific northwest and today we will welcome into their company an east coast cousin of the bigfoot. Let's be honest, the vast majority of UFO sightings tend to be a bit mundane. Without casting judgement on anyone, a glowing orb in the sky that is visible for a few moments before disappearing isn’t the most riveting of the encounter types. Let me regress a bit already and say, while situations like these are intriguing, they don’t send shivers down one’s spine most of the time. Most objects seen may not even leave a trace of their presence afterward, leaving them to exist mainly in the memories of their observers. This is why we tend to remember, by name, the ones that do leave marks...both on their environment and on the human body. Today's case, while decently short and straight to the point, sets the standard pretty high when it comes to long lasting physical evidence. While we would have preferred not to have had someone's health adversely affected from any kind of event, extraterrestrial or not, this case gives the world some good evidence for some mysterious happenings that occured on the night of December 29th, 1980. There are many archetypal human fears. Spiders, snakes, and heights are among the top. Things that, through evolutionary lines and experiences, we have come to commonly avoid. But what we are going to talk about today tends to ride the line of our basic instinct to protect and nurture, that is children. Kindchenschema is a term that describes the attributes that endear babies to most people. Attributes including forehead height, a chubby face and even eye to head proportion, larger eyes typically being considered cuter, the black eyed kids eyes are one of the reasons they seem to repel individuals who encounter them.  As we will see today, whatever may be driving the force behind this strange phenomenon may be using our own psychology against us. With it’s folk sound and haunting lyrics Jim Sullivan’s 1969 album UFO has become a cult classic, with legions of new listeners discovering it everyday. Blending cryptic lyrics and religious questioning, many believe his words have a deeper, more personal meaning. Rumors and conspiracy theories abound to what became of the singer, after his car and belongings were found abandoned in the New Mexico desert in 1975.  Was Sullivan a victim of a nefarious act or was his strange disappearance connected to something more….otherworldly?
