Welcome to episode 400 of the Sexology Podcast! Today, I'm thrilled to be speaking with Susan Morgan Taylor. In our conversation, we delve into the sexual polarity that draws partners together, highlighting the significance of embodying and shifting between masculine and feminine energies. We also explore ways for couples to reconnect, focusing on the importance of conscious intimacy practices and effective communication, including the idea of 'sacred dialogue'.

Susan Morgan Taylor graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 1998 and soon after became a licensed massage therapist. However, her true calling lay elsewhere. In 2008, she began formal training in alternative energy healing and the intuitive arts, leading her to a new path as a spiritual teacher, somatic sex therapist, and intuitive healer. Susan's journey was filled with challenges, mistakes, and growth. Her friend and mentor, Teresa Tingle, played a crucial role in her development, providing guidance that went beyond classroom learning. By 2008, Susan was working professionally as a medical intuitive and spiritual guide.

In 2011, Susan earned a master’s degree in Professional Counseling and pursued sex therapy, building a successful practice in Austin, TX. After ten years, she transitioned to focus solely on intimacy and somatic sex coaching for couples and individuals, continuing her dedication to healing and personal growth.

Jenny McGrath (She/Her) MA, LMHC, is a somatic psychotherapist, movement educator, and researcher based out of Seattle. She works primarily with white, cisgender women who grew up in fundamentalist Christianity who are healing from religious sexual shame and sexual abuse. She researches purity culture and its impact on individual and collective bodies.  

  

Her current study, Transnationalizing Purity, looks at the intersections of those socialized within purity culture and their decisions to do development or ministry work internationally.   

  

She recently released an online course, Embodied Sexuality, that offers comprehensive teachings about the impact of purity culture as well as sex education that most folks who grew up in abstinence only education never learned.
