Susan Morgan Taylor graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 1998 and soon after became a licensed massage therapist. However, her true calling lay elsewhere. In 2008, she began formal training in alternative energy healing and the intuitive arts, leading her to a new path as a spiritual teacher, somatic sex therapist, and intuitive healer. Susan's journey was filled with challenges, mistakes, and growth. Her friend and mentor, Teresa Tingle, played a crucial role in her development, providing guidance that went beyond classroom learning. By 2008, Susan was working professionally as a medical intuitive and spiritual guide.

In 2011, Susan earned a master’s degree in Professional Counseling and pursued sex therapy, building a successful practice in Austin, TX. After ten years, she transitioned to focus solely on intimacy and somatic sex coaching for couples and individuals, continuing her dedication to healing and personal growth.

Her current study, Transnationalizing Purity, looks at the intersections of those socialized within purity culture and their decisions to do development or ministry work internationally.   

  

She recently released an online course, Embodied Sexuality, that offers comprehensive teachings about the impact of purity culture as well as sex education that most folks who grew up in abstinence only education never learned.

Dr Lauren Walker is a therapist, researcher, author and entrepreneur. Dr Walker translates science about sexuality into real life and helps people grow in the areas of sexuality, intimacy, relationships and self-care. Dr Walker is passionate about reducing the stigma associated with sexuality, mental health and health. 

  

Dr Walker completed her PhD in 2013, she completed a specialized clinical fellowship in sexual dysfunction after cancer treatment. Dr Walker received mentorship from nationally recognized experts in sexual medicine. 

  

Dr Walker recently received Calgary's Avenue Magazine's Top 40 Under 40 award. This prestigious award distinguishes recipients as rising stars; high achievers who are impacting their field and the broader community, and who are moving the city of Calgary forward. 

  

She has also developed several innovative sexual health programs for cancer patients and also directs the Oncology Sexual Health Lab at the University of Calgary. There she is on the faculty as an Adjunct Associate Professor where she conducts research on sexuality. Dr Walker has over 40 scientific publications on the topic of cancer and sexuality and is co-author of a book for prostate cancer patients - Androgen Deprivation Therapy: A Guide for Prostate Cancer Patients and Their Loved Ones. 

  

Though not sure the "perfect balance" really exists, she tries to balance her career, with being a wife and also a mom to a vibrant toddler. Dr Walker loves skiing, golf, and working out, listening to music, and enjoying food with her friends.

Welcome to episode 290 of the Sexology Podcast! Today I am delighted to welcome Gavin Vance to the podcast. In this episode, we discuss erectile dysfunction, how he became interested in this area of work, and the roles jealousy and infidelity play around this issue. 

 

Gavin Vance is a Ph. D candidate studying evolutionary psychology under the supervision of Dr Todd K. Shackelford. Gavin received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from The University of Michigan – Flint in the Fall semester of 2017, and his Master of Science in Psychology from Oakland University during the Summer semester of 2020 after defending his master’s thesis. 

  

Gavin's research interests, broadly, focus on human evolved psychology, patterns of romantic relationships, and human mate preferences. In particular, he is interested in studying men’s evolved sexual psychology and the consequences of these psychological adaptations on men’s behavior in romantic relationships.  

  

Gavin has published two manuscripts investigating the relationship between ED and men’s abusive, partner-directed behaviors, with several additional manuscripts currently submitted to various research journals. He has also published a manuscript investigating mate preferences in older men and women. Gavin's dissertation work focuses on women’s physiological adaptations to prevent pregnancy during rape and assesses vaginal acidity and lubrication in response to sexually coercive audio stimuli. Gavin hopes to eventually become employed as a tenure-track faculty member at a research university.

Welcome to episode 282 of the Sexology Podcast! Today I am delighted to welcome Dr Jennifer Lincoln to the podcast. In this episode, we discuss having sex on your period, how you can pay attention to your desire cycle, and how it’s normal for many women to feel more turned on during their period.   

Jennifer Lincoln, MD, IBCLC, is a board-certified generalist obstetrician/gynecologist and attending physician in Portland, Oregon. She primarily works on labor and delivery as an OB hospitalist and loves the excitement and pace this work brings. Jennifer is also an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant. 

  

Jennifer received her undergraduate degree from Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She received her medical degree from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the nation’s honor medical society. She completed her residency at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon. 

  

Jennifer enjoys educating women about their bodies and their pregnancies. She has particular interests in adolescent medicine, breastfeeding advocacy, and supporting women in labor in an informed, relaxed manner. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Northwest Mothers Milk Bank as well as for the Society of OB/GYN Hospitalists. 

  

She is happily married to a pediatrician and has two sons, one in elementary school and the other a preschooler, who teach her more everyday than any textbook could.

Welcome to episode 260 of the Sexology Podcast! Today I am delighted to welcome Dr. Holly Richmond to the podcast. In this episode, we discuss Dr. Holly's new book “Reclaiming Pleasure”, looking at ways to combat shame and guilt and how sexual trauma mis-informs our sexuality.   

 

Dr. Holly is one of North America’s leading sex therapists, serving women, men, couples and gender-diverse individuals for relationship and sexuality issues. She counsels a broad range of clients including Hollywood’s elite and prominent corporate clientele and offers consultation services with psychotherapy interns and other therapists.

Jamila M. Dawson, LMFT is the co-author of the innovative book: With Pleasure: Managing Trauma Triggers for More Vibrant Sex and Relationships. A licensed therapist with an expertise in sexuality, trauma, and relationships, Jamila has been a sex educator since 2005 and has practiced psychotherapy since 2015. She is the founder and owner of the psychotherapy practice Fire & Flow Therapy. She has collaborated with Buzzfeed, MEL, Playboy, Harper’s BAZAAR and other media outlets and has appeared on numerous podcasts, including Girlboner and Sex with Dr. Jess. August McLaughlin is a nationally recognized journalist and host and producer of the podcast, Girl Boner Radio, a true story-driven podcast where she explores sexual empowerment, relationships and pleasure.
