Scarlet Estelle on Fall Out Boy and Hip-Hop

vendredi 19 janvier 2024Duration 01:27:22

Scarlet Estelle is an artist manager and developer. She’s the membership director of REC Philly, and she’s a member of the Philadelphia Recording Academy. She’s also the creator and host of Andrea's favorite new(ish) podcast, Sugar, We’re Going In, which explores Fall Out Boy’s relationship with hip-hop. She’s here today to talk about five of her favorite hip-hop moments in Fall Out Boy’s career. She and Andrea also dive into their shared love for the band, Patrick’s solo career, how Scarlet has continued to find inspiration in the way the members of FOB approach their music, the power of fangirls, how she strives to support and encourage new artists in her own career, and so much more. It’s a fun and special episode.

Spring Cleaning with Kitzy and Andrea

Episode 156

vendredi 19 mai 2023Duration 50:15

Seems like the year just started, but suddenly we're halfway through Spring? Instead of talking with a guest this week, Kitzy and Andrea wanted to share some of the music they've been listening to lately. For Andrea, that means a carefully selected handful of songs. For Kitzy, that means playing spin the wheel with their New Music playlist. There's lots of great stuff from the past couple of months that we haven't gotten a chance to share with you. Don't forget, if you like what you hear, you can find links to pick up music from these artists and to follow them, so you can keep up with their various plans for new music, tours, and all that good stuff.

The Gaslight Anthem - "Positive Charge" | Linktree

Rodeo Boys - "Dog Leg" | pre-order Home Movies | Linktree

Little By Little… by Harvey Danger

Episode 66

vendredi 2 avril 2021Duration 01:05:05

This week, Caleb takes us back to 2005 to Harvey Danger's self-released third (and final) full-length record Little by Little. We learn about the burning ghost town of Centralia, and Caleb shares a story about how a Harvey Danger song became a key part of his wedding playlist.

And, surprising us both, this record is available on Bandcamp!

Little By Little… by Harvey Danger (April Fools)

jeudi 1 avril 2021Duration 01:04:15

We were so excited about this episode that we decided to release it a... little early. But at least we released it all at once, and not... little by little. We hope you enjoy this record as much as we do, or at least a... little.

Get it?? Because the record is called Little by Little. Ahh, nevermind I give up. Or DO I??

Vocations by Early Riser

Episode 65

vendredi 26 mars 2021Duration 01:25:11

This week we're joined by Kiri & Heidi from Early Riser to discuss their brand new record Vocations (available now from A-F Records). We cover everything from shitty people with ulterior motives, the importance of being seen over being scene, some dope t-shirt ideas, and how music critics should watch more Food Network.

Don’t forget to pop over to https://earlyriserrr.bandcamp.com/!

And here's the video for the title track Vocations.

Mikey Erg

Episode 64

vendredi 19 mars 2021Duration 01:14:08

Mikey Erg - yeah, that Mikey Erg, the one that's in every band - is on the show this week! We chat about his dope new self-titled, the rad story behind the cover art, furniture made from road cases, and a sprinkle of data analytics. Come join the fun!

And when you're done, don't forget to check out mikeyerg dot bandcamp dot com!

Driver by Adult Mom

Episode 63

vendredi 12 mars 2021Duration 48:21

Come with us on this journey of discovery, as Caleb hears Adult Mom for the first time and gets progressively angrier about how goddamn good this record is. And then pick up your own copy over on Bandcamp.

While you wait for the vinyl you just ordered to show up, why not watch the video for Sober?

The Guy from Eve 6 Wants You to Listen to These Songs (Max Collins)

Episode 62

vendredi 5 mars 2021Duration 01:18:07

In what is truly a dream come true, we are joined this week by Max Collins of Eve6. Yes, that Eve6. We talk about some new jams he's been cooking up in his pandemic kitchen, including one of the wildest collaboration stories we've ever heard. He also shares a handful of tracks that he loves, old and new.

In our opinions, you won't want to miss this one. I mean, maybe you do, we're not your dad, but you probably don't.

Check out Max's playlist on Spotify

Visit grimvalue.com to watch the video for "Black Nova" and to pre-order Grim value.

Wild River by Anika Pyle

Episode 61

vendredi 26 février 2021Duration 01:03:41

This week we chatted with Anika Pyle about her new solo record Wild River, her poetry, and finding joy in life. We’ve heard a lot about how artists have coped with the pandemic, but Anika’s story is one of our favorites! Tour's cancelled? Tour the national parks instead.

When you're done listening to this episode, head on over to https://www.anikapyle.com/shop to pick up your copy of the LP & book!
