Episode 180 | Discovering What Must Change with Jenni Catron
mardi 11 octobre 2022 • Duration 18:11
There’s a familiar quote from the Greek philosopher Heraclitus, who said, “Change is the only constant in life.” The tension with this statement is that we are naturally wired for comfort. Perhaps our pursuit is really a longing for peace. Maybe it’s for control. But what we do know is that change is inevitable, so we can either resist it or embrace it.
Logically we know that change is a part of life, and it is certainly a part of leadership, but history is a graveyard of leaders and organizations that were unwilling to navigate change at critical moments. As the leader, the change must start with you. You must embrace it first to lead us through it. You must get gut-level honest with yourself about what must change in order for your organization to thrive
In this week’s episode, Jenni introduces us to the “Keep/Start/Stop” exercise and teaches us how to embrace change with three simple steps that will help us identify what must change, why we’re resisting change, and how we can involve our teams in the process.
We want to hear from you! Email podcast@get4sight.com to share your “what must change” take-away from today’s episode, what questions we can answer in a future episode, or which guests you would love to hear from!
For a next step, we encourage you to connect with one of our trained and experienced 4Sight Group: Leadership Coaches to help you navigate leading through change and determining what must change. All leaders agree that the culture of your organization matters. But culture starts with you! Transform your team from disengaged to thriving, from divided to collaborative, and from toxic to trusting.

Episode 179 | Self-Leadership with Jenni Catron
mardi 4 octobre 2022 • Duration 15:38
We all want to lead our teams well, to make a difference and to be successful in our endeavors. But we've also found ourselves in moments where we feel stuck, or in situations where we look back on our day, bewildered and frustrated, wondering why things just didn’t go well.
Often, our feelings of being stuck or frustrated come back to a simple but difficult truth: we're just not leading ourselves well. That's the bad news. The good news is, it's never too late to learn to lead yourself better! But what exactly are the skills leaders need to be successful? How do we stop making leadership decisions based on our survival and instead focus on the welfare of our teams?
In this week’s episode, Jenni teaches us about a key facet of leading ourselves well: self-awareness. In a study of 72 private and public companies, a high self-awareness score was the overall predictor of success. Self-awareness equips us to lead others in a way that leads to results, and those we influence get our best engagement when we know ourselves well and are leaning into our strengths. In this episode, you'll learn the 3 reasons self-awareness is essential, as well as 3 steps to take toward greater self-awareness.
This week, prioritize time to consider how you would answer this question: What do you:
- Think
- Feel
- Believe
How do others experience you, and what would you like to change?
For a next step, we encourage you to connect with one of our trained and experienced 4Sight Group: Leadership Coaches to help you navigate your self-leadership questions and goals. All leaders agree that the culture of your organization matters. But culture starts with you! Transform your team from disengaged to thriving, from divided to collaborative, and from toxic to trusting.

Episode 178 | The 6 "Be's" of Communication with Jenni Catron and Trey McKnight
mardi 27 septembre 2022 • Duration 39:59
If everything rises and falls on leadership, leadership rises and falls on communication. Rarely do leaders intentionally communicate poorly; often they’re just moving so quickly they don’t take the time to think about what needs to be communicated to whom, and we underestimate how critical communication is to leading well. Every time the 4Sight team digs deep with an organization, communication is always at the core. For successful teams, communication fuels good culture, while struggling organizations often lack clarity in their communication.
In this week’s episode, Jenni is back with Trey McKnight to talk about 6 “Be’s” that can help leaders become better communicators. Jenni shares 3 simple questions all leaders can ask to improve communication, how to navigate the tension between over-communicating and under-communicating, and the importance of discerning the communication cascade to discover the most respectful way to communicate this to the right people at the right time.

Episode 177 | How to Influence Culture from the Middle with Jenni Catron
mardi 20 septembre 2022 • Duration 22:44
In this week’s episode, Jenni answers a listener who emailed to ask, “I’m on the low end of middle management, and our company struggles with all four of the 4 blind spots. However, I feel powerless to do anything about it. What can I do to make a difference when I feel as though my input or desire to make the culture better has little or any value to those over me?”
It is not uncommon, if an organization has been under pressure, that there has been an erosion between their values and behavior. Staff members are responsible for protecting and defending the culture of the organization, and for creating and influencing the culture for their specific sphere of influence, and Jenni offers suggestions that anyone can use if you, too, are leading from the middle:
- Offer grace - your senior leader’s may not realize there is a culture issue
- Ask for clarity - hunt for the history of your organization's mission, vision, and values
- Answer “what’s right, what’s true, and what can I do?” - include other staff members in this conversation
- Celebrate when you see the values being lived out
- Model the values within your own sphere of influence

mardi 13 septembre 2022 • Duration 41:26
As organizations work to shift from reactive to proactive, the key to success will be found in investing in our teams. It’s no longer enough to give people jobs and pay them well. Flourishing, thriving teams and organizational culture require intentional leadership development, something you might not think you have the margin, budget, or resources for. Surprisingly, leadership development is not easy, but it can be simple.
In this week's episode, Jenni and Trey are together again as co-hosts to discuss some of leadership development pain points for senior leaders. - …and more
With intentional, consistent leadership development, we can recognize potential in our teams and promote leaders who understand the sacredness of leadership, even if they’re not completely ready yet.
