Episode 180 | Discovering What Must Change with Jenni Catron11 Oct 202200:18:11

There’s a familiar quote from the Greek philosopher Heraclitus, who said, “Change is the only constant in life.” The tension with this statement is that we are naturally wired for comfort. Perhaps our pursuit is really a longing for peace. Maybe it’s for control. But what we do know is that change is inevitable, so we can either resist it or embrace it.

Logically we know that change is a part of life, and it is certainly a part of leadership, but history is a graveyard of leaders and organizations that were unwilling to navigate change at critical moments. As the leader, the change must start with you. You must embrace it first to lead us through it. You must get gut-level honest with yourself about what must change in order for your organization to thrive

In this week’s episode, Jenni introduces us to the “Keep/Start/Stop” exercise and teaches us how to embrace change with three simple steps that will help us identify what must change, why we’re resisting change, and how we can involve our teams in the process.

We want to hear from you! Email podcast@get4sight.com to share your “what must change” take-away from today’s episode, what questions we can answer in a future episode, or which guests you would love to hear from!

For a next step, we encourage you to connect with one of our trained and experienced 4Sight Group: Leadership Coaches to help you navigate leading through change and determining what must change. All leaders agree that the culture of your organization matters. But culture starts with you! Transform your team from disengaged to thriving, from divided to collaborative, and from toxic to trusting.

Episode 179 | Self-Leadership with Jenni Catron04 Oct 202200:15:38

We all want to lead our teams well, to make a difference and to be successful in our endeavors. But we've also found ourselves in moments where we feel stuck, or in situations where we look back on our day, bewildered and frustrated, wondering why things just didn’t go well.

Often, our feelings of being stuck or frustrated come back to a simple but difficult truth: we're just not leading ourselves well. That's the bad news. The good news is, it's never too late to learn to lead yourself better! But what exactly are the skills leaders need to be successful? How do we stop making leadership decisions based on our survival and instead focus on the welfare of our teams?

In this week’s episode, Jenni teaches us about a key facet of leading ourselves well: self-awareness. In a study of 72 private and public companies, a high self-awareness score was the overall predictor of success. Self-awareness equips us to lead others in a way that leads to results, and those we influence get our best engagement when we know ourselves well and are leaning into our strengths. In this episode, you'll learn the 3 reasons self-awareness is essential, as well as 3 steps to take toward greater self-awareness.

This week, prioritize time to consider how you would answer this question: What do you:

  • Think
  • Feel
  • Believe

How do others experience you, and what would you like to change?

For a next step, we encourage you to connect with one of our trained and experienced 4Sight Group: Leadership Coaches to help you navigate your self-leadership questions and goals. All leaders agree that the culture of your organization matters. But culture starts with you! Transform your team from disengaged to thriving, from divided to collaborative, and from toxic to trusting.

Episode 178 | The 6 "Be's" of Communication with Jenni Catron and Trey McKnight27 Sep 202200:39:59

If everything rises and falls on leadership, leadership rises and falls on communication. Rarely do leaders intentionally communicate poorly; often they’re just moving so quickly they don’t take the time to think about what needs to be communicated to whom, and we underestimate how critical communication is to leading well. Every time the 4Sight team digs deep with an organization, communication is always at the core. For successful teams, communication fuels good culture, while struggling organizations often lack clarity in their communication.

In this week’s episode, Jenni is back with Trey McKnight to talk about 6 “Be’s” that can help leaders become better communicators. Jenni shares 3 simple questions all leaders can ask to improve communication, how to navigate the tension between over-communicating and under-communicating, and the importance of discerning the communication cascade to discover the most respectful way to communicate this to the right people at the right time.

If you have a question for Jenni, a “be” you use to help become a better communicator, or suggestions for the podcast, email it to: jenni@get4sight.com

Episode 177 | How to Influence Culture from the Middle with Jenni Catron20 Sep 202200:22:44

In this week’s episode, Jenni answers a listener who emailed to ask, “I’m on the low end of middle management, and our company struggles with all four of the 4 blind spots. However, I feel powerless to do anything about it. What can I do to make a difference when I feel as though my input or desire to make the culture better has little or any value to those over me?”

It is not uncommon, if an organization has been under pressure, that there has been an erosion between their values and behavior. Staff members are responsible for protecting and defending the culture of the organization, and for creating and influencing the culture for their specific sphere of influence, and Jenni offers suggestions that anyone can use if you, too, are leading from the middle:

  • Offer grace - your senior leader’s may not realize there is a culture issue
  • Ask for clarity - hunt for the history of your organization's mission, vision, and values
  • Answer “what’s right, what’s true, and what can I do?” - include other staff members in this conversation
  • Celebrate when you see the values being lived out
  • Model the values within your own sphere of influence

Episode 176 | The Exponential ROI of Investing in Leadership Development with Jenni Catron & Trey McKnight13 Sep 202200:41:26

As organizations work to shift from reactive to proactive, the key to success will be found in investing in our teams. It’s no longer enough to give people jobs and pay them well. Flourishing, thriving teams and organizational culture require intentional leadership development, something you might not think you have the margin, budget, or resources for. Surprisingly, leadership development is not easy, but it can be simple.

In this week's episode, Jenni and Trey are together again as co-hosts to discuss some of leadership development pain points for senior leaders. Maybe you’re also recognizing that the next level of leadership at your organization might not have the skills you expected or hoped for - fundamental leadership skills like:

  • How to have hard conversations
  • Knowing how to have a 1:1 meeting
  • Leading meetings effectively
  • Good self-leadership
  • Conflict management
  • …and more

With intentional, consistent leadership development, we can recognize potential in our teams and promote leaders who understand the sacredness of leadership, even if they’re not completely ready yet. Jenni and Trey share practical ways to invest in your team, encouragement to just get started, real life examples about how investing in a small group of leaders can maximize your impact, and they introduce 4Sight’s new 6-week practical leadership training cohort, starting October 5th.

As we come out of the past two years, it’s safe to say we’re all feeling restless. Seasons of disruption force us to ask the bigger, deeper questions and reflect on where we are, and what might be next.  If we’re not asking those questions in the company of wise counselors, we might not be getting the perspective we need to know if we need to move on or root ourselves deeper.

In this week's episode, Jenni has a conversation with Nate Taylor, 4Sight coach and Executive Pastor about how coaching can help leaders navigate these seasons of change, and the two things he believes will make the biggest impact for leaders who feel exhausted and overwhelmed.

Nate is passionate about the Gospel, his family and helping others to flourish in leadership using their unique wiring. Episode 172 | 3 Key Indicators that Impact Employee Engagement with Jenni Catron & Holly Tate16 Aug 202200:33:22

According to a recent Gallup study, 85% of employees are disengaged in their work; however, teams where employees have weekly interaction with their manager have the most employee engagement. If employee engagement is the lagging indicator, research has shown that consistent, intentional 1:1 meetings are the leading indicator. But how do we increase employee engagement, especially in the new hybrid work-world we’re living in?

In this week's episode, Jenni has a conversation with Holly Tate, Senior Vice President of Growth at Leadr about the three key indicators that impact employee engagement, and how 1:1 meetings can amplify your influence across your organization, while avoiding them robs our team of the opportunity to seek clarity, ask for help, seek development, and receive feedback. Leadership development and great culture creation require consistent and repetitive action.

Holly is passionate about connecting leaders with tools that help them discover a context to consistently apply the leadership content they’re learning. She is a growth strategist, entrepreneur, speaker, and member of the Forbes Communication Council who believes that organizations move at the speed of trust.

Episode 170 | 5 Tips for Leading a Hybrid Team02 Aug 202200:26:09

Did you know that currently over 60% of new hires are requesting flexible work schedules upon interviewing? In the newest report from ADP Research Institute, “two thirds (64%) of the workforce would consider looking for a new job if they were required to return to the office full time.” While the office may still be here to stay - its function may indeed be changing. Because interestingly enough, 87% of employees actually report that one of their top rated needs is to be able to collaborate and build relationships - which typically happens in an office type setting.

In this week's episode, Jenni shares five crucial areas you can focus on to promote clarity and consistency within your organization and find success leading in a hybrid culture.

Episode 169 | Reclaiming Time to Increase Engagement with Jenni Catron & Heath Wilson26 Jul 202200:37:00

According to recent studies, the connection between employee well being and employee engagement are inseparable. Trends show that investment and development of human capital should be our top priority. Healthy employees are more mindful, happier and show higher rates of job satisfaction. Engaged employees show up to work with a bounce in their step, are less distracted and overall are less vulnerable to negative stress. Where engagement is low - morale is low. Where engagement is high - cultures thrive and organizations show 21% greater profitability.

In this week's episode, Jenni has a conversation with Heath Wilson, Co-Founder of Aro, about how we as leaders and chief vision casters can be more intentional about modeling what it looks like to manage a very real distraction that hinders us from truly seeing our people and leaning into more meaningful interactions with those whom we lead. Heath is passionate about helping leaders, families, and organizations reclaim their time without technology and Aro is his way of doing that. Prior to Aro, Heath’s 20+ year career was primarily spent at eVestment, a financial technology company he co-founded and ultimately sold to NASDAQ in 2017.

As leaders, we have the ability to set the tone in our cultures by creating new habits and establishing rhythms to increase authentic engagement. Small habits are the building blocks to take you from where you are to where you want to go. In our everyday interactions, it is our responsibility to bend culture and create moments that hold the possibility of quantity for the sake of quality.

Episode 168 | The Linchpin to Your Success: A Critical Moment for Clarity & Connection with Jenni Catron & Trey McKnight19 Jul 202200:35:46

More than ever employees are looking to belong and engage in an organization that offers purpose and meaning. Not only are people being attracted to organizations with stronger and clearer cultures, partnering with a mission and vision bigger than themselves, but they are also interested in being a part of a team that encourages their own growth and development.

In this week's episode, Jenni has a conversation with 4 Sight Coach Trey McKnight about the critical moment we face to rise up to the challenges proposed in our current climate in order to seize the opportunities we have to invest in what we can control. Trey serves as the Executive Director of Staff Culture and Development at Orange and has worked in ministry for over 20 years with organizations such as: Global Leadership Network, The John Maxwell Company, North Point Ministries, and Chickfila.

Amidst a major shift in “How We Work”, it is important that we as leaders consistently take steps to move forward towards creating regular rhythms of communication to increase trust and connection within our organization. Asking clarifying questions, taking the time to listen and recognizing that culture work takes both patience and persistence is worth it and will make your organization stand out among the rest.

Episode 167 | Own It! : Influencing Culture from Any Seat An Interview with Ed Ollie Jr.12 Jul 202200:45:04

It can be frustrating for a high capacity leader when you don’t find yourself in a chief decision making seat. It can be hard figuring out where to show up or how to affect culture. But the truth is culture always exists. You are always influencing culture and culture is always influencing you. However, if we do not become aware of the responsibility that comes with our seat of influence, within that culture, and learn how to calibrate that influence well, we can become passive in our leadership ultimately moving us into a victim mindset.

In this week's episode, Jenni has a conversation with Ed Ollie Jr. about how we can effectively lead and affect culture from any seat of influence by asking the questions: “What is the current culture? What am I bringing to the culture? And How do we diagnose the culture to move forward together with clear mission, vision and values?”. Ed graduated with athletic and academic honors in Political Science and Sociology and holds a Masters of Public Administration. Ed enjoys serving on the international board of InterVarsity USA and MOPS and has served as chaplain for the Miami Hurricanes as well as other professional teams. In 1995 New Man Magazine named him one of the "Top Five Young Christian Leaders" in America. In 2020, Ed accepted the position of Campus Pastor of the historic Willow Creek Community Church’s North Shore Campus where he serves as part of the Senior Leadership and Teaching Team.

For any leader, it is important to take regular inventory of the lanes and roles you can control, in order to positively impact the culture and spaces in which you do have influence over. No matter what position we may hold we can always affect culture positively when we ask ourselves: “What is right? What is true? And What can I do?”

Episode 166 | When Vision Becomes Reality: The Employee Engagement Funnel05 Jul 202200:17:13

Great culture is not hard to spot. Culture matters.  It matters for the people you’re trying to reach.  It matters for the people you are trying to lead whether they are staff or volunteers. The environment you create in your organization is either attracting or repelling.  There is rarely a middle ground.  And as leaders we set the tone for the culture.  We have to own it.  We have to steward it.  We have to set it, and we have to maintain it.

In this week's episode, Jenni discusses the five steps to the “Employee Engagement Funnel”, reminding us that we don’t drift towards extraordinary culture; it takes time, attention and commitment. When culture is well defined we know “who” we are and “why” we do the work we do.”

The gaps that exist between “who we want to be” and “what we are” hold the keys of opportunity we have to invest in and develop culture. But if we have not yet done the work to clarify culture we cannot truly determine the health of something that is unclear to begin with. We must create organizational rhythms of cultural inputs that consistently provide a steady reminder of the values, beliefs and behaviors that define our aspirational culture. The more employees are actively engaged in achieving mission…the more compelling your culture will become!

To dive in deeper, check out our 4Sight: Values Course. In this course, Jenni Catron walks you through how you can begin to define values, beliefs, and behaviors that will become the anchor for everything you do.

Episode 165 | Internal > External : An Interview with Jeff Henderson28 Jun 202200:44:03

In a post pandemic world most experts would argue that the pandemic simply highlighted and reinforced the current state of one's organizational culture. As the workplace continues to shift and gaps in the workforce remain, those who are still seeking “next” are desiring to belong to a distinct culture that emulates purpose and meaning from the inside —> out.

In this week's episode, Jenni had a conversation with Jeff Henderson about the importance of knowing what you are FOR as an organization but also as an individual. Named by Forbes Magazine as one of 20 speakers you shouldn’t miss, Jeff has become a trusted voice for businesses and non-profit organizations. Jeff has worked for well-known organizations such as the Atlanta Braves, Callaway Gardens, Chick-fil-A and North Point Ministries, one of the largest churches in America. While there, Jeff was the lead pastor for three churches over 17 years and helped launch North Point Online, one of the largest online ministries in the world.

Today people are looking to belong to a culture that takes care of it’s people; an organization that prioritizes humanity over systems. And those on your current teams are desperately seeking to be led. But as leaders, we must first remember to prioritize how we lead ourselves if we are to have lasting impact leading others. As we do the hard work to bring the best version of ourselves - culture lifts! The greatest gift you can give to your team is the internal work you will do, more than anything you will do external.

For a next step, we encourage you to REGISTER for the Culture Conference 2022 hosted by The 4Sight Group. Culture Conference is a FREE digital conference, taking place Aug 11th that will provide practical talks from today’s top leaders to help you continue to build thriving teams, cultivate inspiring workplaces, and achieve mission.

Episode 164 | From Building a Church to Building a City An Interview with Mark Batterson21 Jun 202200:30:17

In today’s society, trying to intentionally lead and grow healthy cultures amidst such polarization and division can bring with it a whole set of nuanced dynamics to navigate all their own. But as leaders we cannot simply ignore the growing tensions of the society we live in. Everyone is eager to have you communicate your position; however, we must learn how to responsibly “exegete culture” for the sake of unity in order that we might better direct those whom we lead and serve to move from an “us vs. them” mentality to one that allows us to: zoom out, celebrate what is going right and enjoy the journey we are all on together.

In this week's episode, Jenni and Mark Batterson have a conversation about how we can better lead and guide conversations surrounding today’s increasingly intensified culture. Mark Batterson is the lead pastor of National Community Church in Washington, DC. Mark holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from Regent University and is the New York Times best-selling author of 19 books. Mark is married to Lora and they live on Capitol Hill with their three children: Parker, Summer, and Josiah.

As leaders we have been given the unique opportunity to communicate a new vision - a third alternative - one of hope and healing through the power of purpose and connection that can shape teams to chase after a shared goal for the sake of building something greater. When we choose to stay humble and stay hungry there’s nothing we can’t accomplish together.

For a next step, we encourage you to REGISTER for the Culture Conference 2022 hosted by The 4Sight Group. Episode 163 | The Connected Leader: Empower Your True Self + Inspire Others An Interview with Karen J Hardwick14 Jun 202200:34:11

When it comes to the Great Resignation and employee burnout studies are telling us more and more about the power of connection and purpose when it comes to engaging with and stewarding those whom we lead. Recent findings also suggest that ¾ of executives say they are currently concerned about their own mental health. The truth of the matter is, we cannot connect with anyone in sustainable, healthy ways unless we connect with ourselves in meaningful and honest ways first! Self reflection is some of the most courageous work we can do and it will make everything and everyone around us - better!

In this week's episode, Jenni has a conversation with Karen Hardwick, an Atlanta-based psychotherapist and leadership consultant who has coached leaders at top companies including ESPN, UPS, and Turner Broadcasting, to be better leaders at both work and home through the superpower of connection. Karen combines psychology, spirituality and leadership principles to focus on first connecting with yourself to make you a better leader at the office but also enhance your relationships at home and in the community.

As leaders we need to consistently pursue self awareness along with journeying through the process of self discovery. Self awareness is about information but self discovery brings transformation. We need to do the hard work of understanding how our story and experiences may be affecting our current leadership in unhealthy ways. The more successful we become the easier it becomes to squander rather than steward the giftings given to us and a tremendous amount of damage can be done in our wake because whatever we do not own will only grow stronger.

For a next step, check out our 4 Dimensions of Extraordinary Leadership Course. Too many leaders feel overwhelmed and ill-equipped to lead. If you can relate to that challenge, you might be asking yourself some questions. What does great leadership look like? How do you become a healthy extraordinary leader? In this course, Jenni walks you through a framework for leadership that will be an anchor in your growth journey as you pursue self discovery and self awareness to lead both yourself and others better.

Episode 162 | Cultures of Generosity: Connecting Purpose and Empowering People An Interview with Jim Sheppard06 Jun 202200:48:31

As leaders we have the important responsibility of creating cultures that move our teams and those whom we serve from living out of a scarcity mindset to one of abundance and generosity. A thriving and flourishing Culture of Generosity is an environment where relationship, connection, and transformation are critical to the how and why of operations. This takes intentional time and effort and requires both internal and external accountability from everyone within the organization.

In this week's episode, Jenni and Jim Sheppard have a conversation about a key component in the development of culture and discuss how “The Great Resignation” has given us an opportunity to grow as leaders, invest in leadership development and be more intentional when it comes to legacy. Jim Sheppard is CEO & Principal of Generis, a consulting firm passionate about helping churches inspire and cultivate generosity through giving development, coaching, and strategy. For the last 27+ years, he has devoted his life to coaching pastors especially in navigating the resource limitations that restrict their ministry potential.

Organizations that reflect Cultures of Generosity have shifted their focus from “What can we build?” to “What can we leave behind?”. More than what we can simply glean from research, in order to affect our bottom line, we must also seek to understand through proper relationships if we want to have lasting impact that connects with and empowers the next generation.

For a next step, we encourage you to connect with one of our trained and experienced 4Sight Group: Leadership Coaches. All leaders agree that the culture of your organization matters. But culture starts with you! Transform your team from disengaged to thriving, from divided to collaborative, and from toxic to trusting.

Episode 161| Reengaging Volunteers to Rebuild a Contagious Volunteer Culture: Jenni Catron and Jess Bealer31 May 202200:28:13

Every human was born with the innate need to live on purpose, for a purpose and to belong. Perhaps then, the strongest narratives we need to be mindful in forming, in regards to our language when creating a contagious volunteer culture and reengaging volunteers, must help people connect the dots and see how consistently serving within the local church actually benefits them more than it does the organization. All of a sudden, the power of purpose and connection then turns small tasks into “Big Asks” - ultimately moving people from disengaged or consumers to contributors in something much larger than themselves.

In this week's episode, Jenni and Jess Bealer have a conversation about post pandemic strategies for moving your teams from a mindset of imposition, when rebuilding a volunteer base, to creating a contagious volunteer culture that ministers to people while also moving them to owners within the organization. Jess has been leading children’s ministry for 21 years. Six of which were spent overseeing standards, systems, staffing and atmosphere for the children’s ministry of Elevation Church. She has overseen the launch of twenty locations, and is considered a specialist in multisite. Jess currently oversees the Family Ministry Services Division of Generis, an organization dedicated to helping churches see their mission accomplished. Jessica is a mother of five, published author and host of the Women’s Leadership Workshop podcast.

Episode 160 | Perspective Shifts to Lead Through Change24 May 202200:22:38

Today’s culture is demanding a different leader. How you led historically will no longer have the same impact today. The pace of change around you is dizzying and the expectation to keep up with it all is debilitating. To lead well in this season is going to require a leader who has the emotional intelligence for self leadership, the awareness to intentionally navigate critical moments, and the ability to effectively discern the emotional current underlying team culture.

In this week's episode, Jenni dissects the “Diffusion of Innovation Theory” and how it relates to people's propensity to adopt or resist change within a culture or organization. With common tensions between “Early Adopters” and “The Majority”, Jenni offers three perspectives that will enable you to shift your focus from a need to affect change to being able to positively lead through change.

Culture work is patient and persistent work. As leaders we must become aware of where we can get stuck in the comfortable and familiar rather than be curious about the unknown. A shift in perspective can open up ideas, conversations and doors.

For a next step, check out our 4Sight: Culture Survey. This survey will help you discover where you should be investing your time and efforts to see greater  impact across your organization. Our free assessment will help you identify your biggest culture blind spot so your teams can thrive.

Episode 159 | Awareness in Leadership: An Interview with Genea Browne17 May 202200:34:18

The two most critical areas of focus, for any leader, is a growing sense of self awareness and a commitment to self leadership. The more you know yourself the better you are able to lead others. When a leader is not well there will undoubtedly be a ripple effect to everyone under their care and influence. Therefore, we must lead ourselves well so that we can lead others better.

In this week's episode, Jenni interviews 4Sight Coach and Executive Director Genea Browne. Genea is devoted to leadership and personal development with over 20 years of both ministry and marketplace experience. She is most passionate about and highly accomplished throughout her career at guiding individuals and organizations to achieve alignment, growth, and excellence. She specializes in organizational development and building a healthy culture. She has written and delivered leadership training and workshops on these practices to many churches and non-profit organizations.

Today, Genea will give us “4 Areas of Awareness” that are important when it comes to leading self, others and making decisions as a team. We have to be able to both recognize and appreciate that every person on our team has a unique self concept they bring to the table, and if we are not able to recognize the fact that people filter through their own awareness and self concept we will never be able to fully appreciate the differences within our teams.

Episode 158 | The Rules of Engagement10 May 202200:21:54

Leading from a place of clarity and confidence, in a season of immense uncertainty, is something that you can do! How you lead amidst uncertainty is ultimately a greater reflection of your leadership ability than how you lead in the ordinary. But did you know that the two most common issues that most organizations face is their values are either completely ignored or currently working against them?

In this week's episode, Jenni provides both the “why” and the “how” to creating great values that will enable you to both align your teams and provide the ‘rules of engagement’ to accomplishing the vision and mission together.

Values are what tie your purpose, culture and strategies together. Clearly defining those values will more effectively drive behavior, influence your decisions and equip your teams to move forward with both clarity and confidence.

To dive in deeper, check out our 4Sight: Values Course. In this course, Jenni Catron walks you through how you can begin to define values, beliefs, and behaviors that will become the anchor for everything you do.

Episode 157 | “What’s Here Now?” A Practice of Presence: An Interview with Jeanne Stevens03 May 202200:38:04

When it comes to creating cultures of psychological safety - building both trust and belonging - how can we better lead from a place of emotional and relational intelligence that will enable both ourselves and our teams to show up more fully?

In this week's episode, Jenni has a conversation with Jeanne Stevens, Founder and Co- Lead Pastor of Soul City Church in Chicago, IL. - one of America's fastest growing urban churches. Prior to starting Soul City Church, Stevens was on the pastoral staff at Willow Creek Community Church and North Point Community Church. A sought-after speaker, leader, and writer, Jeanne's passion is to help people wake up to their purpose as they pursue a life of wholehearted freedom.

We were created to be “human beings” not “human doings”. But how do we as leaders manage the very real tensions between rehashing the past, rehearsing the future, all while learning to lead from a place of presence that postures us to lead with both a peace and a power that ultimately challenges those around us to do the same? Because we can reflect and we can plan but that will not happen without intentional space created in the present.

Episode 156 | On Mission to Outlast: An Interview with Brian Mosley26 Apr 202200:43:38

With each new season, the majority of new opportunities will not necessarily be a bad thing but are they always the best thing? When building and leading an organization to last throughout the generations, clear and consistent communication of your “why” and your “what” will empower your teams to “decide into something rather than slide into something” when it comes to the ever-changing “how”.

In this week's episode, Jenni has a conversation with Brian Mosley, President of RightNow Media. RightNow Media’s mission is to work with the global church to inspire people to love others before self and Christ above all. From creating video content, to RightNow Media @Work and events through online streaming, they exist to help people realize their God-given purpose of serving and loving others in a world that’s primarily concerned with selfish pursuits.

Maintaining a clear focus of the mission and values of your organization will enable healthy and consistent growth as you are better able to filter opportunities through the lens of who your organization serves and why it's important.

Episode 155 | Strategies to Sustain Culture in a Post Pandemic Workplace: An Interview with Kelly Skiles19 Apr 202200:36:17

While most of us worked in proximity, in highly relational cultures, the pandemic truly only accelerated the expectations of flexibility that were already in motion. As our means and tools for accomplishing tasks and meeting goals were changing, so too was the definition of “the workplace”. However, one thing’s for sure, in 2020 we were all forced to accelerate and adapt quickly. We were forced to forge new ways, developing new systems and strategies, but we have also been forced to manage some very real tensions: expectations, accountability, communication, protecting culture and healthy team dynamics.

In this week's episode, Jenni continues the conversation about creating clarity and consistency within hybrid cultures in an interview with Kelly Skiles, XP at Soul City Church in Chicago. Kelly spends the majority of her time developing leaders, building team culture and focusing on strategy. She has worked both in ministry and in the non profit space for nearly 20 years where she has enjoyed coaching and leading dozens of teams through strategic processes to help them reach clarity and achieve their goals. She has been married to her husband Mark for 18 years and has 3 kids and loves spending her free time cheering on the Chicago Bulls.

In the past, proximity helped to create accountability, but now that we’ve moved to cultures of flexibility, necessary feedback has naturally become less frequent. With less interaction we are then required to be more mindful and intentional about the various communication styles of those on our teams. As a leader, there is no one-size fits all approach. However, as leaders we must ask ourselves the important question - How do I need to adjust or shift in order to help create a culture that people want to be a part of and that they can contribute and do their best work?

For a next step, we encourage you to connect with one of our trained and experienced 4Sight Group: Leadership Coaches. Episode 154 | Creating Clarity & Consistency in a Hybrid Culture12 Apr 202200:25:01

Did you know that currently over 60% of new hires are now requesting flexible work schedules upon interviewing? In a survey conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers in June of 2020, remote work has been an overwhelming success for both employees and employers reporting an 83% overall satisfaction rate. However, while the office may still be here to stay - its function may indeed be changing. Because interestingly enough, 87% of employees actually report that one of their top rated needs is to be able to collaborate and build relationships - which typically happens in an office type setting.

In this week's episode, Jenni details five crucial areas you can practically pursue in order to promote clarity and  consistency within your organization to find success leading in a hybrid culture.

Whether we have been able to “catch up” or not, organizations have been forced to pivot and find new ways to become flexible while maintaining the integrity of processes and productivity. There’s no doubt that over the past few years strategies have had to change. Many of us are navigating how to hold on to traditions of the past while experimenting with new ways to reach those whom we serve.

For a next step in fostering greater relationships and trust amongst your teams, we encourage you to check out our 4Sight Group: Extraordinary Teams Workshop. This is a One-Day Workshop designed to help your staff move from a group of individuals to a team; from “me” to “we.” Leadership expert and 4Sight Coach Julie Pierce will lead your team through fun, engaging experiences and challenging content focused on the key aspects of transforming from an ordinary group into an extraordinary team.

Episode 153 | The Foresight to Fight Fatigue: Jenni Catron and Trey McKnight05 Apr 202200:34:04

From global upheaval to massive organizational shifts, burnout and stress are at an all time high. This year according to the American Psychological Association, reporting even higher than last year, 3 out of 5 employees are reporting stress overload: lack of motivation, lack of energy, cognitive weariness, emotional exhaustion, and extreme physical fatigue. No doubt, over the past couple of years our strategies have had to shift and we have been forced to experiment with new ways of reaching those we serve and those we are on mission with. Simple things now feel more complex. The disruption of routine has compounded the decisions we need to make - impacting the sense of overload and fatigue we all feel.

In this week's episode, Jenni and 4Sight Coach Trey McKnight have a conversation about the post epidemic Crisis of Burnout. Trey also serves as the Executive Director of Staff Culture and Development at Orange and has worked in ministry for over 20 years with organizations such as: Global Leadership Network, The John Maxwell Company, North Point Ministries, and Chickfila.

New seasons require intentional new rhythms. As leaders, we must then be sure we are modeling the behavior we want repeated. The extraordinary strategy of Self Leadership is the antidote to overload and fatigue. Self Leadership is founded on discipline. In order for us to build our capability and capacity to adapt to the uncontrollable, so that we can ultimately show up our best selves, we must individually establish healthy and sustainable rhythms emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually.

For a next step, we encourage you to connect with one of our trained and experienced 4Sight Group: Leadership Coaches. All leaders agree that the culture of your organization matters. Episode 152 | Protection + Provision for Your Organization: An Interview with Tiffany Henning SPHR/CRPC29 Mar 202200:36:12

In light of the first wave of “The Great Resignation” and employee burnout we are experiencing coming out on the other side of COVID, there is much evidence forecasting plenty of movement that is still to be had on the horizon. Make no doubt about it, people within your organization are asking themselves the meaningful question “Is this where I still want to be?”

In this week's episode, Jenni interviews Tiffany Henning, a veteran in Church & Ministry HR with over 20 years of combined experience. She is the founder and “Chief People Person” of HR Ministry Solutions, a faith based non-profit specifically created to simplify HR compliance and staff pain points for churches and ministries in order to foster healthy cultures and systems for sustainability.

When it comes to attracting and retaining staff a lot of times its simply about stewardship. People rarely leave jobs. People leave bosses. In ministry its easy to focus on the 5,000 and forget to invest in our disciples. But your staff is your first line - your first congregation. That’s why we must hire slow, on board well and be intentional about the ongoing health and retention of those we are investing in.

For a next step, check out our 4Sight: Culture Survey. This survey will help you discover where you should be investing your time and efforts to make a bigger impact in your team. Our free assessment will help you identify your biggest culture blind spot so your team can thrive.

Episode 151 | Creating a Culture of Trust22 Mar 202200:12:49

Values become intrinsic to you as a leader. Therefore, they must be clearly articulated and intentionally communicated with consistency to those whom you lead. While proximity may enable some to “catch culture”, for a quickly growing organization, this will not be effective or sustainable.

In this week's episode, Jenni identifies the most common issue found within most organizations - a lack of trust. Systemic issues can be extremely frustrating if we cannot pinpoint where tensions are coming from and a lot of times, as leaders, we can lack the organizational emotional intelligence to know how to create and rebuild a culture of trust.

The good news? Trust is not some soft elusive quality that you either have or you don’t, its a pragmatic and tangible asset that you create and build over time - but much faster than you’d ever think possible!

To dive in deeper, check out our 4Sight: Values Course. In this course, Jenni Catron walks you through how you can begin to define values, beliefs, and behaviors that will become the anchor for everything you do.

Episode 149 | Building an Org Chart That Works!08 Mar 202200:28:14

Within a growing organization, tensions can quickly build when responsibilities are unclear, power struggles become consistent, and deadlines start being missed. The hard truth is, the higher you are to the top of an organization the more blinded you become to the confusion and chaos that can loom below. That is why you, as a leader, need to be designating a disproportionate amount of time to the ongoing health of your team.

In last week's episode, Jenni gave us the "WHY" and this week she coaches us on the "HOW" - laying a basic framework of "structure for the strategy". When building an Org Chart that works, Jenni answers the question, "How can we strategically reevaluate our current structure in order to more intentionally design, build and clearly align our teams to more effectively and efficiently accomplish our mission?

In today's culture, the consistent pursuit of organizational clarity will be a lifeline for growing and thriving organizations. An Org Chart that works will allow you to steward the tensions between empowering the "WHO" (the individuals entrusted to your care) and providing greater clarity for the "WHAT" (the strategies and purposes of those committed to the mission).

Episode 148 | The Extraordinary Impact of Organizational Clarity01 Mar 202200:30:59

Within a growing organization, tensions can build quickly when responsibilities are unclear, power struggles become consistent and deadlines start to be missed. The hard truth is, the higher you are to the top of an organization the more blinded you become to the confusion and chaos that can loom below. That is why you, as a leader, need to be designating a disproportionate amount of time to the ongoing health of your team.

In this week's episode, Jenni discusses the “Why” behind one of her favorite tools. Hidden behind boxes and lines, an Org Chart that clearly aligns and empowers can ultimately give your organization a competitive advantage in today's culture; unlocking your team to thrive in both purpose and strategy.

An Org Chart that works will not be a reactive system created simply to appease the frustrations of the immediate but rather should be created with the intention to strategically resolve mission outcomes.

Episode 147 | Earn Trust to Rebuild Culture: An Interview with Tim Stevens22 Feb 202200:42:28

There’s no doubt we have been forced to maximize the pivot and lead through unprecedented times in the past couple of years due to several external forces, but what happens when you are called to lead through the challenges that come from within an organization when there has been an implosion of leadership and those remaining are both exhausted and traumatized?

In this week's episode, Tim Stevens, Executive Pastor of Campuses and Culture at Willow Creek Community Church in Chicago, IL, joins with Jenni in an important conversation about how we can step into the mess of a culture of disruption and distrust and take steps towards stability and credibility.

Culture work is patient and persistent work. There is no microwave process for long term effect. Rebuilding a healthy culture is less about building trust and more about earning trust.

Episode 146 | The Power of Clear values Jodi Tonarelli and Carey O'Connor15 Feb 202200:45:57

When it comes to the power of clear values in your organization, your team can love your mission and your vision but ultimately people are a culmination of their previous experiences. That’s why clarity is a process we must move people towards with consistency and persistence.

In this week's episode, Jenni and 4Sight Coach, Carey O'Connor, interview Jodi Tonarelli Executive Pastor of The Ridge Community Church in Greenfield, WI in a conversation about how clarifying culture will enable you to move your team from aspiration to accountability through the use of common language.

When values are clearly defined, communicated and modeled not only are you investing in individuals and therefore your team as a whole, but you are also investing in the future of your organization - which is an investment into those whom you serve.
