Episode 6 ft. Dr. Liz Turner, DMD
Episode 6
lundi 13 avril 2020 • Duration 51:51
Brittny discusses with Liz Turner, DMD the depth of how attached the mouth and body are. Dr. Turner reveals it wasn't until the birth of her son a few years ago that her world changed. He was born tongue tied and it was impacting his feeding. Since she wasn't having pain and her son was gaining weight, she was told... "It's just a mild tie, it will stretch, it's no big deal." A mom knows her baby, and after five weeks she was able to get his lip and tongue tie treated with a laser (by a dentist). Three days later her father-in-law, with untreated sleep apnea and tongue-tie, had a heart attack. He was in a medically induced coma for six days. Dr. Turner realized that dentists are not just "teeth doctors," but really have incredible insight into how healthy someone is (or has the potential to be!). Dr. Turner believes, as dentists, she and her colleagues have the responsibility to screen their patients for airway dysfunction.
