Kira McSpice and I dig into the experiences and concepts behind her new album, "The Compartmentalization of Decay"

vendredi 19 avril 2024Duration 33:56

On this episode of the Foxy Digitalis Podcast, I talked to Kira McSpice about her incredible new album, “The Compartmentalization of Decay.” It’s a record that’s really left a mark on me in 2024, and this conversation with Kira made me love it even more.

Talking to R. Hunter about his new missing scenes album, who is this for? - and seeing if we can come up with an answer.

vendredi 12 avril 2024Duration 33:58

On this episode of the Foxy Digitalis Podcast, I talk to R. Hunter aka missing scenes about his latest album, “who is this for?” I love the title of this record as it’s a question I think about and ask myself often. We get into that for a while, talk about process, what’s ahead, and a lot more.

Dis Fig - Songs of Our Lives #21

mardi 13 février 2024Duration 01:22:12

For this episode of Songs of Our Lives, I invite Felicia Chen aka Dis Fig on the show. There are collaborations that just make sense, and one listen to Dis Fig & The Body’s “Orchards of a Futile Heaven” screams that these two projets are meant to collide. After talking about how that happened, we blast off talking about how early is too early for a memory of Naughty by Nature, the desolation Sufjan Stevens can bring, how Earth is also sexy… maybe, earnestness going too far, Senyawa’s magic, getting hyped with Nero, Portishead’s greatness, and loads more!

Listen to all of Felicia’s picks HERE

Foxy Digitalis Daily - July 3, 2023: Meshell Ndegeocello “The Omnichord Real Book”

lundi 3 juillet 2023Duration 11:32

Today’s pick may be a little outside the usual zone Foxy Digitalis is associated with, but “The Omnichord Real Book” is an instant classic. Absolutely essential listening, and I hope anyone who follows FD checks it out. Plus, the schedule the next two weeks is a bit wonky, so more on that at the top of the show. Wednesday episodes are exclusively on Patreon. Foxy Digitalis Daily - June 30, 2023: Jeffrey Lamoureux "possible parallels"

vendredi 30 juin 2023Duration 10:50

Jeffrey Lamoureux’s “possible parallels” surprised me. I figured it was worth spending time with since it’s on Zekarias Thompson’s Working Name Studios, but it really resonated. Plus, Genot Centre signs off after eight years of incredible mayhem. Wednesday episodes are exclusively on Patreon. Foxy Digitalis Daily - June 29, 2023: Sharron Kraus "KIN"

jeudi 29 juin 2023Duration 11:42

I love to hear what the lifers are up to, and this recent one from Sharron Kraus does not disappoint. I don’t know if it’s really a plague record, but it feels like one to me, and I am 100% in for that. Plus a couple quick hits on two albums I’ve been digging a lot lately from Jantra and Lyonel Bauchet. Wednesday episodes are exclusively on Patreon. The Seltzer Salon #4: Ned Milligan

mardi 27 juin 2023Duration 41:11

I've been a great admirer of Ned Milligan's work both up close and from afar. His latest, Considerable, is the perfect opportunity to finally have a conversation about his approach to creating these inviting, organic sound worlds. His use of wind chimes, especially, always grabs me on such a core level. Considerable is an apt title for this latest album as Milligan's work is always considered and restrained, creating just the right amount of resonance and sonic space to live within. Considerable is out now on vinyl, CD, and digital formats via laaps. https://laaps-records.com/album/considerable https://florabellerecords.com/ The Seltzer Salon is a concise, conversational podcast hosted by Brad Rose and produced by Foxy Digitalis. Each episode features a musician, artist, writer, or anyone, really, focusing on a single project or idea. I know we all have limited time each day, so I wanted to do something a little smaller scale with just as much impact, so episodes will be 25-45 minutes in length. Foxy Digitalis Daily - June 27, 2023: Shida Shahabi "Living Circle"

mardi 27 juin 2023Duration 11:01

Climate change is coming for all of us and this week it’s coming for Tulsa. Today’s pick is a stunner from Shida Shahabi, plus some new joints from Suzanne Ciani and BLAKMOTH. Foxy Digitalis Daily - June 26, 2023: Water Damage "2 Songs"

lundi 26 juin 2023Duration 09:39

We’re back after an unplanned and unexpeceted week off. Where was I? Well, Tulsa got slammed by city-wide 100 mph winds early Sunday (June 18) morning that knocked out power to half the city. It’s just been a real shitshow here, so even once power was restored to our place, I figured I’d just take the rest of the week off. But the Daily is back with some serious howl from Water Damage. The Seltzer Salon #3: Danny Paul Grody

mardi 20 juin 2023Duration 33:59

I don't have enough superlatives for Danny Paul Grody, but he is such a kind and generous person that even a short conversation with him will leave you feeling better about the world. His latest album, Arc of Day, captures that spirit. It plots a sonic pathway through darkness and isolation to the other side, where light still glows. Brad and Danny talk in-depth about the album and its origins, the incredible collaborators who helped bring it to life, and a little Furniture Music for good measure. Arc or Day is out now on Three Lobed. https://threelobed.bandcamp.com/album/arc-of-day https://dannypaulgrody.bandcamp.com/album/furniture-music-ii The Seltzer Salon is a concise, conversational podcast hosted by Brad Rose and produced by Foxy Digitalis.
