Alex's experience of motherhood
Episode 219
dimanche 12 mai 2024 • Duration 41:45
Full disclosure, we recorded this ep in Lisa's living room because we filmed it so that we could upload it to IG. It all fell to shit because we aren't professionals and filmed too wide for an instagram crop hahahaha... anywhoo, that's why it sounds the way it does this week!!
This episode is a little update from Alex on her experience of motherhood so far. The highs lows, swings and roundabouts. The change and evolution she feels in her identity and some rudimentary advice from someone currently going through it all.
Listen if you wish, no hard feelings if this ep isn't for you right now :)

Happy Monday pod fam! Sorry speech path’s about Alex’s bilabial plosives this week. She got a lip flip.
In beauty news this week, it’s another week and another recycling beauty program as Lush announces their new buy back scheme in conjunction with teracycle. Next up, you’ll remember that we’re splitting out our product trial from our main episode each week, so we’re jumping into an ‘i can’t believe you didn’t know that’ ahead of our Mecca Face Oil trial coming to you on Wednesday. We can’t believe you didn’t know that the day before an event is a bad time for a clay mask.

Let's get slugged
Episode 116
dimanche 2 mai 2021 • Duration 45:22
EPISODE 116./
Starting off this episode a little chaotic off the back of our very first hate mail and a VERY happy engagement to friend of the pod, Armadale Liv!
In beauty news this week, Sunday Riley has been certified as a B Corp, more retailers have joined the TerraCycle beauty recycling program and we discuss the top paid beauty influencers and their reported income per post, per platform… so juitzy. In launches: Jaclyn Hill’s new priming and setting collection has been revealed, Bread Beauty has launched in Sephora Australia and Vieve is about to drop a highlighting product! P.s we were wrong about Vieve … it’s totally not a powder.
Moving into a beauty breakdown, this week we’re discussing slugging. Not the wormy kind. The K-beauty skincare trend that’s doing the rounds on tik tok and promises to reduce trans epidermal loss of hydration. So what is it? And do you need to try it? Let’s discuss.
This week we trialled the Dr Dennis Gross Intense face tanning wipes. They’re an AHA/BHA/DHA delight combining light exfoliation with a tanning glow. Finishing this episode up with the usual: beauty faves, non beauty faves and some meal-like snacks.

Mini / Mothers Day Gift Guide
mardi 27 avril 2021 • Duration 34:57
Hi fam! Show notes below are a collection of our ramblings and planning for this episode. There's a lot to get through so we won't be providing links but hopefully product names will help you find things :)
Bridie:
Gift for my mum: loves homewares, is about to build their dream home on the water, loves cooking (not baking) and enjoys a nightly wine 👏🏼💞
> The book I mentioned this week! Julia butilli nushimuri cookbook. Get her a little hamper and wrap it in a basket from target which will be gorg and helpful for her home. Add some fancy olive oil, rock salt…I say this every time but the zalto wine glasses - always get comments on mine.
>A cute kitchen book stand to go with the book ^^ (fog linen work brass bookstand)
> Byredo or similar hand wash and cream set for new house. (Aesop, grown alchemist)
Jess:
Hi ladies 🤗 I need a present for my mum. She likes gardening, is obsessed with her two dogs and her and my dad recently got a caravan to go adventuring in. She isn’t really into make up or skin care (I’ve tried). She is a bargain hunter and doesn’t really go for high end stuff. She does love a nice perfume tho, she currently wears Si. I usually buy on behalf of me and my useless brothers and spend $250-$300.
Any recommendations would be appreciated 😇
This excites me. Can she adopt all my future dogs too?
> Camper chair the internet and Brenton tell me expensive is good, wanderer looks like a good brand -
> Not sure of the calibre of the camper van but maybe a nice hot plate or heater?
> Jaffle iron maker
> The clay collection do the chicest personalised dog bowls
> Also MERRY PEOPLE GUM BOOTS can’t say it enough. And has she got a good puffer and or wet weather jacket like gortex vibes
> Would she like Gucci bloom? Or jo Malone?
Kaye:
Desperately need ideas for my mum pls - very minimally interested in make up / skincare (think moisturiser, powder and brow pencil only 😂). Hates the idea of buying anything expensive. Works in finance. Loves crafty things like cross stitching and knitting. $50 budget just to give her a little treat. Now that i’m typing this, can you say: Vanilla 😂😂😂 Love her tho hahaha
> Would she like the journey of something puzzles? She could then frame it?
>Wool and gatherer do punch needle kits for 58 bucks with free shipping and punch needle is cool and trenday
> Beeswax wrap sets! Fun crafty and sustainable
Em:
“High flying executive mum who spends 2 working weeks out of the month in Perth. Sensitive skin, likes natural skincare. Obsessed with tea, cooking and animals”
> Marrimeko mug.
> A donation to an animal charity on her behalf. Nigella cook book.
> Josh rosebrook hydrating mist or mask, both nice for water loss as a result of flying and natural and bougey.
> Japanese cross back linen apron from made and more currently on sale. I don’t wear any of my other aprons cause they’re too hard to put on lol this is superior.
> Some Robert Gordon pottery or I just got the cake stand?

The boy who cried wolf
Episode 115
dimanche 25 avril 2021 • Duration 44:38
EPISODE 115./
Good morning everyone! (gooood morning Lisa and Alex). We have some important news for you all… Things around here are going to be changing.
We had a catch up with our friends at Acast this week, and we’re keen to get our listener (that’s you)’s input on the updates we’re planning to make to our show! Please tune in to provide us with your feedback - we do this for you and would hate for you all to hate our podcast if things change too dramatically! You can DM us @allbasescovered.pod or leave us a review on Apple Podcasts to share your thoughts on our suggested changes.
Getting into beauty news… This week we’re coining Jeffree Star as the boy who cried wolf after an ill-timed accident that he was involved in over the week with a long time friend. Reality or fake news? You be the judge. Speaking of people being dodgy, this week it was announced that James Charles has been dropped by Morphe and Demonetised by YouTube. New things this week include weddings, babies and product launches from Ultra Violette, Hourglass, Esmi, and Lisa Eldridge.
This week we trialled the Dior Backstage Face and Body foundation. Time for us to discuss the claims, our thoughts and how we find that this foundation compares to the cult MAC Face and Body foundation alternative.
Finally, our beauty faves, non beauty faves and athletic chocolate nutty snacks to see us out!
