How to Use Google Analytics to Improve SEO Performance

mercredi 18 mai 2022Duration 02:18

Google Analytics is a powerful tool, but extracting valuable and useful insights can often feel like pulling teeth—especially for beginners.

Hi, I’m Cally, from the International Institute of Digital Marketing. Here are 3 actionable ways to use Google Analytics to improve SEO.

1. Find low-hanging opportunities to boost traffic

Consider whether a page is about a topic where freshness is a ranking factor. Second, if you see a significant organic traffic change to your homepage, it’s usually down to a fluctuation in the search volume of navigational queries. Maybe you went viral six months ago, and more people were Googling your brand, but then it naturally dropped back to the mean?

2. Find high-converting pages and improve their SEO

The ultimate goal of SEO is usually to drive more sales from organic search. One of the easiest ways to do that is to improve rankings for your most valuable pages.

Hit the “SERP” button and compare your page’s SEO metrics to those that outrank you. Take action to improve your page where it falls short.

3. Improve landing pages that contribute to conversions

People rarely land on websites they’ve never visited before and buy something right away. They go on a journey, often visiting multiple pages on your site in the process.

By default, Google Analytics credits 100% of the conversion to the last landing page the user visited (provided that it was a non-direct click). But the reality is that the person probably wouldn’t have converted if they didn’t read a blog post first. So technically, this page helped assist the conversion.

Improving SEO for these pages will probably lead to an increase in conversions and revenue.

How to Create SEO-Friendly URLs (Step-by-Step)

lundi 16 mai 2022Duration 02:11

If you were to describe your page in a few words and replace the spaces with hyphens, that would usually be “good enough” for SEO. But you’d probably prefer not to take a stab in the dark.

Hi, I’m Cally, from the International Institute of Digital Marketing. Let’s run through a simple process for creating optimized URL slugs.

1. Remove special characters

Have you ever seen a URL with backslashes () or square brackets ([])? Probably not, because these are unsafe characters that don’t belong in URLs.

You should remove these for obvious reasons, but it’s also best practice to remove other special characters like commas, colons, semicolons, etc.

2. Remove superfluous information

Google says it’s good practice to make URLs as simple as possible.

So remove anything you don’t need from our potential URL.

Note that you’ll have to use common sense for this part. The aim is not to make your URL so short that it no longer accurately describes its content. It’s to remove unnecessary words and phrases.

3. Boil it down to a keyword

Most titles naturally contain keywords, so what you’re probably left with at this stage is a simplified, keyword-rich version of your title.

This can lead to long URLs that get truncated in search results. The additional context can also be an issue should you ever want to update the page.

So, the next step is to find the keyword that represents the most popular way people search for your page’s topic.

4. Make it lowercase

Most web servers treat lower and uppercase URLs the same, but this isn’t always the case. Technically, everything after the hostname (domain) in a URL is case-sensitive, and some servers will treat them differently.

To be on the safe side and to avoid potential duplicate content issues, use lowercase URLs—always.

How Content Marketing Can Save Your Digital Marketing Strategy

mardi 31 août 2021Duration 02:34

Content marketing is, and has always been, best served as an integrated infusion into a broader marketing strategy. Content marketing is the opportunity to make everything we do better.

Hi, I’m Cally, from the International Institute of Digital Marketing. Here is How Content Marketing Can Save Your Digital Marketing Strategy

Content strategy: The heart of a marketing strategy

Many marketing organizations seem stuck in a never-ending cycle chasing the needs of internal content/experience silos and enabling them with the technologies to optimize each separate layer of the customer’s journey.

In our work and research over the last decade, it is common to see multiple technology solutions managing data, activating content, and measuring consumption of the exact same content.

In today’s B2B marketing, for example, the lead generation strategy centers on customized content interactions that build trust over a long and complex buying journey. Paid digital media is driven by the need to stand out.

It promotes differentiating thought leadership contentmore and the buy-now call to action less. B2B marketing is becoming hyperfocused on targeting customized content into specific accounts.

When these activities work well, it’s because of a connected, cohesive strategic contentapproach that builds valuefor customers along their journey.

In other words, today’s integrated marketing strategystarts with a great content strategy. If we can get to a foundational and strategic content marketing approach – we may just find the heart of a central and integrated marketing strategy.

4 Questions to Help Vet Your Content Ideas

vendredi 2 juillet 2021Duration 04:51

Many #marketers talk about creating valuable #content. What does it mean for a piece of #content to have value? If your #content offers value, is it guaranteed to succeed? The short answer to the latter question is: No. A lot of factors play into success. But you’re more likely to reach your goals if you first vet your content ideas. Use this checklist to confirm which ideas are worth pursuing. 1. Is it something your #audience wants? This is the most important criteria. If you spend time and money putting together #content no one really asked for, it’s more likely to fall flat. How can you make sure a #content idea matches an actual want or need of your #audience? First, establish a process to sync with a sales representative and a customer service representative (if applicable) to find what current customers/clients are curious about. Does your idea fall into those curiosities or concerns? Second, perform question or keyword research on your idea to see if it’s among the questions people are asking or the information they are trying to find. Many tools can help you do this. Among them: Answer the Public and BuzzSumo collect questions from across the web. Keyword Surfer and Keywords Everywhere are browser extensions that pull keyword volume and other info right in the SERPs. Google’s People Also Ask feature, autocomplete, etc., provide more insight on similar search queries. When you find keywords that match your #content idea, what’s the volume of the keywords? Lower volume is fine if you’re creating bottom-of-the-funnel content, but if you’re trying to reach a more general #audience, you might want a #content idea with a higher relevant keyword volume. 2. Has the idea been done? You come up with an idea you think is fantastic; it fits the brand, it helps your target #audience, and your team can create it with their available time and resources. But make sure to check that the idea hasn’t been done. Often, this is as simple as a Google search, but you’re not just looking for direct matches. For example, say the idea is to write a post about favorite Halloween candy across the country. A quick search of “top Halloween candy by state” reveals many websites have published #content on this idea: Now you could argue people love this type of content, which is why so many sites are doing it, and you have a new way to write about which candy is the most popular. But if your content doesn’t typically compete with popular sites like Delish and Better Homes and Gardens, you might not want to throw your version of this idea into the ring. Audiences already have seen the same idea multiple times, and it just won’t have the same appeal as something new. 3. Does the idea work with a #marketing goal? Rarely does one piece of content fulfill all your content #marketing goals. If you try to make it accomplish several tasks, you’re more likely to end up failing across the board. Every piece of #content should have a primary goal and secondary goals, such as: Increase brand awareness by ranking for top-of-the-funnel terms Increase brand awareness by ranking for middle-of-the-funnel terms Increase brand awareness by generating social media buzz Help potential customers/clients understand more about your offering (sales support) Assist visitors in converting through bottom-of-the-funnel content Create a resource to build backlinks and/or brand authority Your goals can overlap, but each piece of #content should have a specific goal to shape the idea so the resulting #content and promotion deliver what your organization expects it to. When building an editorial calendar, include your overall #content goals at the top and note the objective for each piece of content so you and your team stay focused on its purpose when planning and creating the #content. 4. Will the idea elicit a reaction? For your audience to care about your content, it should provoke a response or emotion. Will your idea do that? The question is a proxy for determinin

SPRINT BACKLOG

jeudi 1 juillet 2021Duration 01:52

The #Sprint Backlog is the set of Product Backlog items selected for the #Sprint, plus a plan for delivering the product Increment and realizing the #Sprint Goal. The #Sprint Backlog is a forecast by the Development Team about what functionality will be in the next Increment and the work needed to deliver that functionality into a "#Done" Increment. The #Sprint Backlog makes visible all the work that the Development Team identifies as necessary to meet the #Sprint Goal. To ensure continuous improvement, it includes at least one high priority process improvement identified in the previous Retrospective meeting. The #Sprint Backlog is a plan with enough detail that changes in progress can be understood in the Daily #Scrum. The Development Team modifies the #Sprint Backlog throughout the #Sprint, and the #Sprint Backlog emerges during the #Sprint. This emergence occurs as the Development Team works through the plan and learns more about the work needed to achieve the #Sprint Goal. As new work is required, the Development Team adds it to the #Sprint Backlog. As work is performed or completed, the estimated remaining work is updated. When elements of the plan are deemed unnecessary, they are removed. Only the Development Team can change its #Sprint Backlog during a #Sprint. The #Sprint Backlog is a highly visible, real-time picture of the work that the Development Team plans to accomplish during the #Sprint, and it belongs solely to the Development Team. Monitoring #Sprint Progress At any point in time in a #Sprint, the total work remaining in the #Sprint Backlog can be summed. The Development Team tracks this total work remaining at least for every Daily #Scrum to project the likelihood of achieving the #Sprint Goal. By tracking the remaining work throughout the #Sprint, the Development Team can manage its progress. DEFINITION OF DONE

jeudi 1 juillet 2021Duration 01:57

When a Product Backlog item or an Increment is described as "#Done", everyone must understand what "#Done" means. Although this may vary significantly per #Scrum Team, members must have a shared understanding of what it means for work to be complete, to ensure transparency. This is the definition of "#Done" for the #Scrum Team and is used to assess when work is complete on the product Increment.

The same definition guides the Development Team in knowing how many Product Backlog items it can select during #Sprint Planning. The purpose of each #Sprint is to deliver Increments of potentially releasable functionality that adhere to the #Scrum Team’s current definition of "#Done".

Development Teams deliver an #Increment in product functionality every #Sprint. This Increment is useable, so a Product Owner may choose to immediately release it. If the definition of "#Done" for an increment is part of the conventions, standards, or guidelines of the development organization, all #Scrum Teams must follow it as a minimum.

If "#Done" for an increment is not a convention of the development organization, the Development Team of the #Scrum Team must define a definition of "#Done" appropriate for the product. If there are multiple #Scrum Teams working on the system or product release, the Development Teams on all the #Scrum Teams must mutually define the definition of "#Done".

Each Increment is additive to all prior Increments and thoroughly tested, ensuring that all Increments work together.

As #Scrum Teams mature, it is expected that their definitions of "#Done" will expand to include more stringent criteria for higher quality. New definitions, as used, may uncover work to be done in previously "#Done" increments. Anyone product or system should have a definition of "#Done" that is a standard for any work done on it.

THE DAILY SCRUM

jeudi 1 juillet 2021Duration 01:59

The Daily #Scrum is a 15-minute time-boxed event for the Development Team. The Daily #Scrum is held every day of the #Sprint. At it, the Development Team plans to work for the next 24 hours. This optimizes team collaboration and performance by inspecting the work since the last Daily #Scrum and forecasting upcoming #Sprint work. The Daily #Scrum is held at the same time and place each day to reduce complexity. The Development Team uses the Daily #Scrum to inspect progress toward the #Sprint Goal and to inspect how progress is trending toward completing the work in the #Sprint Backlog. The Daily #Scrum optimizes the probability that the Development Team will meet the #Sprint Goal. Every day, the Development Team should understand how it intends to work together as a self-organizing team to accomplish the #Sprint Goal and create the anticipated Increment by the end of the #Sprint. What did I do yesterday that helped the Development Team meet the #Sprint Goal? What will I do today to help the Development Team meet the #Sprint Goal? Do I see any impediment that prevents me or the Development Team from meeting the# Sprint Goal? The Development Team or team members often meet immediately after the Daily #Scrum for detailed discussions, or to adapt, or replan, the rest of the #Sprint's work. The #Scrum #Master ensures that the Development Team has the meeting, but the Development Team is responsible for conducting the Daily #Scrum. The #Scrum #Master teaches the Development Team to keep the Daily #Scrum within the 15-minute time-box. The Daily #Scrum is an internal meeting for the Development Team. If others are present, the #Scrum #Master ensures that they do not disrupt the meeting. Daily #Scrums improve communications, eliminate other meetings, identify impediments to development for removal, highlight and promote quick decision-making, and improve the Development Team’s level of knowledge. How to Get Facebook Leads Organically

jeudi 1 juillet 2021Duration 06:12

Why would you want to take time and effort to attract #organic Facebook leads when you could just pay for prospects? #Organic #leads are free, and there are plenty of ways to get started, even if you’re not sure how. Social media sites like Facebook provide several free tools to start building a community, including: ● Facebook groups ● stories ● posts Facebook also provides an “insights” tool, allowing you to measure responsiveness, reach, and clicks. Then there’s the overall effectiveness of your advertising. To get the best results from your campaigns, some say it’s better to combine paid and free social media #leads. Another advantage with organic leads is these prospects are already interested in your product or service. They may just need some nurturing to convince them to buy. If you need a further reason, here it is: Your organic ads can allow you to build lasting results from people who already feel they know and trust you. That’s the main benefits covered. However, how do you start getting a steady stream of organic #leads? 5 Tips to Get Facebook #Leads Organically Getting Facebook #leads organically doesn’t need to be complicated. With some proven methods, you can start getting free traffic from interested prospects. In the following section, you’ll find five ways and some tips on how you can implement them yourself. 1. Join Facebook Groups for Your Industry and Post Links to Your Website When Facebook announced a greater focus on “meaningful” discussion, it was met with positive results. The move meant the social network’s users are now more engaged with groups, and Facebook says 400 million people are in groups that it considers meaningful. Not only that, Facebook believes in groups so much it paid an estimated $10 million for a SuperBowl ad, writes CNBC. Since these groups already have an active membership of interested followers, why not reach out to them? Join some industry-related groups. Begin posting helpful content and answering questions where you can. Feel free to talk about your business and what it does to get people to message you on Facebook or your website. Just make sure you’re not overly promotional. When looking for suitable groups to join, you’ll have to think of your typical audience and the day-to-day problems they may have. If your product or service can solve them, sign up, interact with group members, and get conversations rolling. 2. Optimize Your Facebook Business Page Since their introduction, Facebook business pages have undergone considerable changes and continue to improve and evolve. Although business pages are getting increasingly sophisticated, just setting up a page isn’t enough: You’ll want your page to do some work by gaining #organic Facebook #leads. You can do this by optimizing your page for increased clickthroughs and revenues. However, you’ll only need to optimize the parts relevant to gaining leads. Facebook suggests you concentrate on three main areas: ● your business name and description ● profile photos and cover photos ● a call to action (CTA) 3. Post Content That Capitalizes on Current Events in Your Industry Draw in organic Facebook leads by covering industry events and trends. You can track these through newspapers, industry press releases, trade publications, and Google Trends. Piggybacking or “newsjacking” off current events within your industry trends works well for two reasons: ● First, if a subject is at the forefront of people’s minds, they might want to find out more. ● Secondly, it demonstrates your company is eager to keep up with developing events and trends. There are a few methods you could use with this type of content. For instance, you could write regular articles or blog posts around trending topics. However, why not get creative with video commentary and related images? The more imagination you show, the more shareable your content becomes. 4. Hold Facebook Live Events Facebook provides a few video services, so why use Facebook Live? Well, viewe
