Adventures in Kakeland (cakeland) is a podcast about running a side hustle cake business. My business is called Kake and Cupkakery and l am sharing my experience of all the challenges I’ve faced of running a cake business to help you run yours.
I also interview other cake makers, cake artist and small business owners who are doing amazing things within their space. 
Authentic and vulnerable conversations as well as laughs and sharing honest experiences of life in the cake world.

I look at what has been trending and give my opinion on a couple of viral social media events that happened regarding perceptions of cost within the wedding industry' and a freebie request made to a bakery in exchange for "exposure"
Then l move onto the main topic of this episode which  is planning for the busiest time of the year QTR 4 and primarily focusing on  Christmas.
 I share my strategy of running a successful Christmas campaign, breaking down task over a period of months to get in those festive sales.

In the second half of the podcast l speak with Dee Omole from Dees Basement who came to my attention on Instagram with her distinctively beautiful madeleines. She spoke about how throughout the pandemic and numerous lock downs doing postal orders helped her business thrive.
We also discussed how the BLM movement helped raise her profile as a black creator working on various brands collaborations.

The tagline in her business  is "elegant to extreme and everything in between" and if you take a look at her website and Instagram imagery you will totally get it and how she has perfectly been able to offer cakes with themes she enjoys such as alternative, nerdy, superhero and comic book style cakes to customers who are looking for this exact style.
We also spoke about her dream styled shoot and how during the pandemic she organised and bought together 52  businesses to gift a wedding to an NHS key worker which was a truly beautiful thing to do.
