As part of our education initiatives, we will be highlighting nominees from other organizations that are adding value to the chemical industry. Dr. White was a nominee of Future of STEM Scholars Initiative (FOSSI). Recognizing a lack of diversity throughout the STEM workforce, in November of 2020, the American Chemistry Council, AIChE - American Institute of Chemical Engineers, The Chemours Company and HBCU WEEK FOUNDATION, INC. partnered to establish the Future of STEM Scholars Initiative (FOSSI). This national industry-wide program seeks to increase the number of underrepresented professionals in the STEM workforce by providing scholarships to students pursuing preferred STEM degrees at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

As we wrapped our first Women in Chemicals book club pick, we celebrated with our community by hosting a fireside chat with Bonnie Garmus - author of New York Times Best Seller and Good Morning America Book Club Pick "Lessons in Chemistry". In this hour long discussion with Bonnie, we speak to her inspiration behind the book, the writing process, and the advice she has for women in male dominated spaces.
