RERUN-WKRPCast-Episode018-Who Is Gordon Sims (w/Tom Chehak)
Season 1 · Episode 18
lundi 9 février 2026 • Duration 55:23
WELCOME BACK!
We've only ever known Venus as...Venus. Surely that's not his given name, right? Herb's got a personal appearance lined up for Johnny and Venus at a local used car lot. Les is snapping some pix for the paper. Venus is NOT amused! Threats of violence against...Les? It's a pretty heavy scene, man...and we discover Venus might have a few skeletons in his well stocked closet. Andy tries to get to the bottom of it. Art REALLY tries to get to the bottom of it. Ultimately, we wind up with one of the most intense, thought provoking and dramatic half hours of sitcom television you're ever likely to lay eyes on. BIG BONUS: episode Writer Tom Chehak joins us with insight and stories from the set. This script was an important one for Tom...and it turned out to be historic for CBS. It also caused a LOT of problems! Politics, powerplays, intense drama...and that's all the stuff happening backstage! Strap in, fellow babies...we're going for a ride with a gentleman named Gordon Sims. Gordon has seen some stuff and he needs to share. We hope you can handle it. Push 'play' and hang on.

Generic music beds and stings were used in place of the original music for the syndicated version of the series. WELCOME BACK!
Randall Ferryman is coming to town and he plans to bury us ALL! Herb has hit the sales guy jackpot. One of the biggest funeral home chains in the country has its sights set on the Queen City and they seem to want to deliver big bags of money to the Flimm Building. Herb "did the deal" but...hold on a minute, there was very little deal to be done. Wasn't that WAY too easy? Andy wants to know what's going on here!! Turns out, the Dead Guy in the Lobby wants a jingle in addition to all of those sweet, sweet spots. Can the gang can pull together a jingle??! This just might work. Venus was in a band, Bailey can actually sing and Jennifer is making smoke come out of Herb's ears. Yeah, yeah...one day we're all gonna buy it, but until that day comes, you need to hit "play" and enjoy the young and swingin' sounds of the Mighty KRP Singers!! Randall is 'ready to cook'!

WELCOME BACK!
Hey!! It's Allen and Donna Stare! It's time for another episode of the "WKRP-Cast"...and...well. Okay, so this is bad. Really bad. If you don't know this episode, consider yourself lucky. If you DO know this episode, please keep reading. We know superfans who will NOT watch this one...but we're giving it a shot! After last week's AMAZING "Turkeys Away" episode, the fine folks at MTM...or CBS...or somebody said this should be the follow-up to one of the greatest half hours in television. This is very bad all on its own...but when you put it up against "Turkeys" it becomes monumentally bad in comparison. If you should happen to like this episode, we hope you have a sense of humor. If you REALLY like this episode...you'd probably better not listen. The other 99.897% of you are going to have a blast. Things get comedically bloody...claws come out...hair color is questioned...you'll have fun in spite of the horrific episode, we promise!! The WKRP-Cast is on the air...grab your brains, fellow babies, this one is about as bad as it can possibly get. Hold your nose and hit 'play' !!
[No shout-outs this time. We didn't think it would be fair to associate anyone's name with this episode...just to be safe. Shouts next time! Send stuff!]

S4XTRA03 - Anniversary ReRelease "Patter of Little Feet"
Season 4
mardi 21 juin 2022 • Duration 52:06
Hey, Fellow Babies!! We celebrated our 35th Wedding Anniversary on June 20th. Rather than spend the week working on a new show, we took the week off to celebrate! We didn't want to leave you completely high-and-dry, so we're re-running a romantic favorite: "Patter of Little Feet."
We did cut a new intro. We've got a project in the works and we're needing your help. We've decided to do a "Misses and Messes" episode as a capper for the series. Those things we missed, and things we messed up. What have you heard? Go back and listen. Take notes! Big things we missed...or messed...send us the episode title and what we should either add or change. We'll gather them all together and talk about it at the end of the series in September.
Hope your summer is going well!! Anniversary Congrats to any other Fellow Babies who might be celebrating the memory of their nuptials (since most weddings happen in the summer). Next week: "Pills". We have one more week of leisurely summer with another re-release over the 4th, then we start a run of new shows all the way through to Labor Day! (NOTE: Keep an eye on that rerun for the 4th...we might have a BIG bonus for you!!)

S4XTRA02 - "Ask Jennifer WITH Eileen Barnett Interview"
Season 4
mardi 31 mai 2022 • Duration 01:16:44
Hey, Fellow Babies! We here at the WKRP-Cast have taken the week off for Memorial Day. Since this is an elaborate hobby and doesn't pay much of anything (aside from you Patrons...THANK YOU, Patrons!!) we figured we deserved a week off.
But, we didn't want to leave you Fellow Babies hangin'! We wanted to get something new to you, only without putting in the 40+ hours involved in creating a regular episode (and, no exaggeration...more than 40 hours go into EVERY WKRP-Cast! Writing, researching, recording and editing...2 people x 20 hours each. See why you should be donating to Patreon? Patreon.com/WKRPCast. Come on! Join the cool kids!! Only $5 a month).
Searching our archives, we realized we've been sitting on a new interview since February. We talked to Eileen Barnett (who played 'Arlene' in the Season 3 episode, "Ask Jennifer")! The problem: we didn't talk to her until after the episode aired. We didn't know what to do with this interview sitting here...then the lightning struck! How about we re-run "Ask Jennifer" only we INCLUDE the Eileen interview??
Have a safe and awesome Memorial Day, Fellow Babies! Enjoy the new stuff...and the re-run. Also, this summer you need to binge some WKRP-Cast! Pop in the earbuds before yard work...put us on the stereo for a long car ride. It's the perfect way to re-watch WKRP with your ears...and you might learn something, too!!

SPECIAL REPORT: The ACTUAL Final Episode of WKRP
Season 4
vendredi 22 avril 2022 • Duration 09:12
Hey, Fellow Babies!! Welcome to this podcast "Special Report". Today marked what many believe to be the anniversary of the "final" regular season, first run WKRP episode.
We have evidence this is not true. We're going to go into detail as we finish out the podcast, but we thought you might like an overview instead of waiting all summer.
Enjoy this explanation, and make sure to join us next Tuesday for our next regular episode, the hilarious "Who's On First?"

S4XTRA01-Cincy Trip Recap w/Bob Gerding & John Kiesewetter
Season 4
mardi 5 avril 2022 • Duration 02:05:35
Hey, Fellow Babies!! The Cincinnati trip was a huge success. We got back just a couple of hours before recording this episode. We had a great time, even if we are a little sore (we walked a LOT!).
There's tons of info in this week's show about the trip!! A tip: check the show Facebook page. All you have to do is search "WKRP-Cast" in Facebook and you'll find us. We mention FB posts a LOT in today's show. If you haven't been following our Epic Adventure, you'll want to take a look at some of our posts. Much of the trip was pretty visual, and we did snap a LOT of pix.
We also caught up with a couple of interesting guys who have had a LOT to do with WKRP over the years. The first was Bob Gerding. Bob is the local Video Pro who shot the opening and all of the exteriors whenever they needed something out in Studio City. Bob has some GREAT stories from working on the show.
THEN we talked to the man who is the dean of Media Reporting in Cincinnati: John Kiesewetter or just "Kiese". Kiese wrote for the Cincinnati Enquirer starting just after WKRP went off network. He followed it through the syndication episodes with the lost music, hacked scenes and awful attempt at a DVD release in 2007. He's talked to every one of the show principles and written about them all multiple times over the years (except maybe Jan). Kiese took us on an incredible tour of Cincinnati looking at it through the lens of WKRP.
We'll have full interviews with both of these guys plus a rundown of our four WKRP-Filled days in Cincinnati. Strap in, Fellow Babies...the Cincinnati tour is leaving as soon as you push "play."
CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE:
Are you ONLY wanting to hear interviews? Only looking for our Cincy Travelogue? Either way, we've got you covered!
- Bob Gerding Interview (30 total mins) - Starts at 24 minutes. FF to listen.
- John Kiesewetter Interview (39 total mins) - Starts at 1h:04 minutes.
- You can hear us being interviewed by Chris & Janeen at 2:00hours.
If you're only wanting travelogue, FF past the interviews the specified times. Hey Fellow Babies!! We talked to Gary Sandy. Don't miss our exclusive interview with Andy Travis now available from the WKRP-Cast. Wherever you get your podcasts.

S3XTRA03 - ReRelease-"Jennifer's Home for Christmas" (Happy Holidays!!)
Season 3
mardi 28 décembre 2021 • Duration 01:03:36
Hey Fellow Babies!! We hope you're enjoying whatever end of year festivities are your custom. We celebrate Christmas, so we're hanging with family over the holidays eating too much and opening presents. Yeah...it also means we're taking the week off!! Fear not!! We didn't want to leave you hanging completely, so we've recorded a new intro for "Jennifer's Home for Christmas", and we are re-running this holiday episode (we originally ran it last May...we also like being able to drop it over Christmas).
Enjoy the festive holiday laughs, then get ready for NEXT week when we finish off "Dr. Fever and Mr. Tide." What a great way to start the new year!!
(Oh, and if "Jen's Home" isn't enough Christmas Cheer for you, make sure to replay "Bah, Humbug" from earlier this winter for more Holiday Hijinks!!)
Okay, Fellow Babies...time to look under the tree and push "Play."

S3XTRA02-ReRelease-It's a good one!
Season 3
mardi 26 octobre 2021 • Duration 01:20:31
Hey, Fellow Babies! Guess what? We're still moving! We tore down the audio editor and piled it into the back of a U-Haul with the rest of our stuff on Oct. 13th. Goodbye, Illinois!! (it was fun...but we won't miss the winters!). Hello, Arkansas! (but not as fast as we thought...construction slowdown due to supply chain issues at the new place). We've taken a 2-week hiatus to let us get moved and settled into the new place (and, of course, get to podcastin'!!).
We didn't want to leave you completely KRP-less this week, so we loaded up a favorite episode. Strap in...we're taking a ride with Hamilton Camp as Del Murdoch!! It's "Hold Up"! Have another laugh at "Wingy Mennone" and we will be back with you fresh and new next week. Thanks for bearing with us! -Allen & Donna
