Lucie Fink on the transition from 1-2 and getting real about mental health, breastfeeding, money and the mental load

Season 1 · Episode 24

jeudi 5 septembre 2024Duration 53:57

One of our favorite episodes to date, we welcome Lucie Fink, soon to be mother of 2 (any day now!), video creator, YouTuber and podcast host. As all three of us are pregnant with our second, we discuss the transition from 1-2 and what she would do differently. We dive into the mental toll of breastfeeding, the self-inflicted pressure we sometimes put on ourselves and the resentment of carrying the mental load, regardless of how helpful and present our partner is. Lucie shares about her identity struggles postpartum and how she morphed her platform into one that speaks openly about taboo topics - sex, money and mental health. We get real about money, Lucie’s relationship with it stemming from her upbringing, and how she now approaches it as a mom. This is a must listen episode for any parent…

When you spend your first trimester in Paris

Season 1 · Episode 23

jeudi 29 août 2024Duration 27:32

Exciting news! Annabel is pregnant and found out unexpectedly the week before she left to Paris for the summer. This episode shares the behind the scenes journey from a few days before she left at only 5 weeks pregnant, to right when she returned at almost 12 weeks! Annabel shares it all - the feeling of finding out she was pregnant and then leaving her comfort zone for 2 months, to finding an OB in Paris and how different the process / guidelines were (from doctor bedside manner to food restrictions), and how she dealt with navigating nausea/fatigue in a new environment.

Milestones & Comparison

Season 1 · Episode 14

jeudi 27 juin 2024Duration 28:42

There are so many “milestones” for our children that are tracked since the day they’re born. Not just from our doctors, but it seems to be the first question most people ask when asking about your child. In this episode, we dive into the emotional component and get real about the shame, guilt and judgement that can arise if our children don’t hit milestones “on time.” We may wonder if our children are behind or blame ourselves for not “doing enough.” D shares openly about her son’s walking status and how our emotions toward milestones are in fact a huge mirror into our past childhood experiences. We chat through what we can do to heal our inner child and remove the shame we attach to it. Our children will forever be hitting milestones, I mean does it ever end? We have to find ways to protect our peace. This is a must listen for any parent going through it.

Megan Roup on the summer of ‘no’, identity shifts, body image, less is more and embracing the fleeting nature of phases

Season 1 · Episode 13

jeudi 20 juin 2024Duration 49:16

Megan Roup is a celebrity trainer, founder of The Sculpt Society and most importantly, an incredible and inspiring mom of two. We talk all things identity and chat through the process of re-learning what it means to show up authentically postpartum, working-mom guilt and handling “hustle culture” when you enter motherhood. Megan talks overwhelm and boundaries, while also reminding herself every phase is temporary. We discuss body image, healing unhealthy relationships to food and the mindf*** of body dysmorphia during pregnancy and postpartum. Last but not least, we discuss all things pelvic floor (PSA - it is not normal to pee in your pants postpartum, hear why). Overall, this episode is raw, real and a glimpse into the real rollercoaster ride and balancing act of motherhood.

Are we romantic partners or business partners?

Season 1 · Episode 12

jeudi 13 juin 2024Duration 27:35

One of our most requested topics - relationships. With the new responsibility of a child, our relationship dynamic changes - duh, we just don’t think we realized how extreme the change would be. We speak candidly about falling into defined roles, co-existing / co-parenting vs spending quality time together, the importance of clear communication, intentionality with our time, and how we keep our romantic relationship from turning into a business relationship - a work in progress for us.

Is ‘balance” even achievable? Does resentment of carrying the mental load sometimes get in the way of connection? How do we go about prioritizing our partner and not taking our relationship for granted? Tune in to her more…we’ll definitely need a part two.

Routines: Sleep, naps, feeding, solids

Season 1 · Episode 10

jeudi 30 mai 2024Duration 39:46

Today’s episode is all about routines. We’re big fans of routines as they keep us sane, but getting on a routine that works well for your family, be it: sleeping, eating, napping, etc is hard. We chat through the first year of schedule and share our day-to-day routines, including our morning and night time routine. We speak about sleep training, starting solids, meal planning and how everything feels daunting the first time around. We chat about how we block out the noise and do what’s best for our families, go at our own pace and do what feels comfortable to us.

The postpartum Identity crisis

Season 1 · Episode 9

jeudi 23 mai 2024Duration 22:59

Let’s chat: identity. Yes we are first and foremost moms, but we’re also so much more than that. Regardless of if you’re a working mom or a stay at home mom, we’re all innately multifaceted as humans, we’re sisters and daughters, friends and partners…the list goes on. In this episode, D&A chat about their previous identities, and how they’ve shifted, how motherhood has forced them to take inventory of their ‘roles’ and make adjustments to ensure alignment. They discuss identity crisis, questioning their purpose, uncovering so much about themselves after becoming a mom, and realizing that it’s okay to have conflicting desires - wanting to have a careers, yet also wanting to spend all day with your kids. Wanting to have alone time, but feel guilty taking it. Wanting to have an active social life, but not want to leave the house. All these different expressions can be true at the same time - the shame and guilt that comes with these desires is societal, not our own.

Do I need this product? Newborn edition

Season 1 · Episode 8

jeudi 16 mai 2024Duration 37:20

In todays episode, D&A take their instagram series of ‘do I need this’ to the pod. They spill the tea on the most asked about baby products: if they’re worth the money, or if they’re worth skipping. They touch on everything from bouncers vs swings, strollers (is the Doona worth it?), baby monitors, pumps and everything in between.

JOMO > FOMO

Season 1 · Episode 7

jeudi 9 mai 2024Duration 27:42

Comparison is innately part of us as and let’s be honest, this construct feels intensified during motherhood. From body image to baby milestones, preschool admissions and so much more, the comparison and fear of ‘falling behind’ is real. How do we ground ourselves? How do we tune inwards and learn to make decisions based on our own intuition? We explore how our ego meddles with our parenting decision and why it’s important to pause, take inventory and sometimes give ourselves a reality check.
