Dr Liz Evans makes an important statement on behalf of UKMFA regarding the Northern Ireland Public Health Bill which would give unprecedented powers to the state in a health emergency, including the ability to mandate vaccines and preventative treatment on individuals, potentially opening the door to forced vaccinations.
It also seeks to give authorities the power to detain and quarantine individuals, force medical examinations, forcibly enter premises, require children to be kept off school and adults off work.
This is a deeply disturbing bill, seeking to expand the powers of the state in ways which would violate fundamental principles of medical ethics - informed consent, bodily autonomy, medical choice - and also infringe many other human rights.

Dr Jenny Goodman qualified at Leeds University Medical School in 1982, and is a member of the British Society for Ecological Medicine. She has specialised in Nutritional and Environmental Medicine since the year 2000. She has a particular interest in pre-conception care (fertility and making healthy babies), and in working with children.

Jenny has lectured extensively, to other doctors, to practitioners of alternative medicine, and to the general public. She ran a case-discussion group for 10 years, where medical and naturopathic/nutritional practitioners share knowledge and clinical experience.

Their vision is to provide low cost legal advice and practical support for patients and parents across the UK who find themselves in a disagreement with a health or social care professional, and need a point of contact for support and advice. The Autonomy Hotline has supported patients and parents with concerns about care facilities, social services referrals, family court, and hospital treatment, to name a few! The hotline is manned by a team of volunteers who have some experience of advocacy, patient care, family law or counselling. Nicky and the team believe that good patient care involves challenging professional systems, protecting human rights, family unity, and individual autonomy.

This presentation was given to Doctors for Patients in July 2023 where Dr Liz Evans spoke about the clear change in the medical profession in relation to ethical principles and the deterioration in the Doctor / Patient relationship. This presentation is still wholly relevant, whether viewed from the Doctor or Patient perspective.

Doctors For Patients UK was set up in September 2022 by a group of doctors who wanted to create a platform and safe space for clinicians to discuss current issues in healthcare and medicine. The group was borne out of a shared concern that core principles of medical ethics were – and still are – being disregarded, such as the oath to “First do no harm”, the respect for individual bodily autonomy and the need to obtain fully informed consent for all medical interventions.
