Oct 25 2024- Former Flophouse Resident Wants City To Shut It Down

Season 5 · Episode 28

vendredi 25 octobre 2024Duration 44:56

Follow-ups on "Nightmare on Watt Street", more about Plan 2050, and asking if civic politicians played politics with commemorative awards, are what you'll hear in Episode 28!

Part 1- Lots of horror stories continue to emerge after Marty's column in the Winnipeg Sun exposed a rooming house wreaking havoc on a working class neighborhood in East Kildonan. The interview with the whistleblower in the last episoderecounted the ways the City of Winnipeg has failed to protect the community.

Coun. Jason Schreyer is scrambling to hold public meetings to turn things around- even as advertising appeared on Thursday to fill a vacant bedroom for $650 a month.

You'll hear reaction not only from readers, but audio from a recovering addict who lived there until March, confirming one of the deaths that occured inside the Watt St. "death trap" and outraged the rental property is still operating.

Harvey Smith made a point of taking a drive through his ward to see for himself what was happening at night. Do any city councillors do that anymore? No one is speaking up for area families and businesses in fear of more arsons, crime and deaths- and we will keep the pressure on to help them.

  • We are within $2000 of the $5600 target- please go to the ActionLine.ca Donate page to chip in via Paypal or E-Transfer today!

23.20 Part 2- A telephone referendum, held in the RM of Springfield by a taxpayer's rights group, showed an incredible degree of opposition to Metro's Plan20-50. Will the rump WMR caucus still supporting the plan- led by Mayor Gillingham - persist in calling them "misinformed" or "conspiracy theorists"? There's 2900 folks in that RM who'd challenge the name-callers.

Who would residents of Winnipeg ask if they wanted to know how Plan20-50 will affect them? Months later, the City can't answer that question.

31.00- Another story about crime and disorder affecting law-abiding property owners and residents is in the Winnipeg Sun today.

Riverbank ‘garbage dump’ impacting ability to attract tenants to downtown building

Marty Gold spoke with a representative of the high-end apartment complex at 300 Assiniboine, who have challenged Mayor Gillingham and Premier Wab Kinew to remove the garbage-strewing, arson-starting, drug-using homeless encampments behind their building on the banks of the Assiniboine River.

33.00- Politicizing the Winnipeg 150 Awards has fueled even more cynicism towards City Hall.

An email from a listener - one of many, actually- raised questions about the choices the Mayor and city councillors made for Winnipeg 150 medals, supposedly "nominated for their significant contribution to their neighbourhood or the city at large."

Some are clearly deserving of recognition.

Others, such as a CBC radio host with no listed volunteer activities since moving here, seem to have been beneficiaries for political purposes.

Some check all the right boxes- except the boxes denoting the actual pre-requisites for the medals. Should people doing a job at a city-funded agency get an award for simply doing the jobs thay are paid to do?

Coming up- Transit undermines driver and rider safety; more trouble from downtown homeless encampments; Vandal says vamanos to politics...

Oct 20 2024- Years Of Drugs, Disorder, Death At EK Crime Hub

Season 5 · Episode 27

lundi 21 octobre 2024Duration 01:02:34

Our public safety investigations continue with an exclusive interview in Episode 27, about a house on Watt Street in East Kildonan that has been the source of mayhem for years with no relief for area residents.

It was the topic of our Winnipeg Sun column today- Five Bodies Later, Neighbours Sound Alarm Over Elmwood Flophouse.

You'll hear a neighbour tell all about the constant drug and criminal activity around the rental property; the fear and intimidation everyone feels; and the lack of help they've gotten from the City and their councillor. Only a provincial justice department enforcement program brought a brief respite.

Part 1- Marty catches listeners up on his recent reports on how unsafe taking Winnipeg Transit has become, more controversy about a guest speaker the Winnipeg School Division already apologized for, and riverbank homeless encampments.

6.48 - Nightmare on Watt Street, is what the print headline said. More tips and details have poured in confirming it.

One clarification is required- the corner house in question actually falls a few blocks outside the traditional Elmwood border, which is not Munroe. Who knew?

E-transfers, sponsor inquiries, comments, news tips- martygoldlive@gmail.com

Part 2- Marty Gold has an exclusive interview with a homeowner in direct sight of a rental property that's wreaking havoc on the peace of the neighborhood

In the last five years, the rooming house with a revolving door of troublemakers has only been quieted after seeking help under the provincial Safer Communities Act.

"Al" recites the laundry list of emergency police and fire response calls, arsons, harassment, filth and break-ins. He says he saw 5 deceased individuals lugged out of the flophouse in the last 18 or so months.

A constant coming and going of drug buyers, stolen bikes and thieves destroys the peace and quiet residents expect. His experience with a break-in to his garage illustrates the collapse of the justice system.

22.25- Al and a number of other residents claim that they sent messages and complaints to Councilor Jason Schreyer when calling 311 and police failed to produce a pro-active community safety initiative. From used needles near the schools to a mom and child harassed at the bus stop, public safety in EK is at serious risk, but Schreyer says he never got Al's calls.

"I find that very hard to believe."

Marty and Al talk about fires around the area including a hydro pole, and whether city administration is keeping information from councilors about problem spots in their own wards.

Coun. Schreyer told Marty he's prepared to convene town halls about crime in the ward. Al suggests "he'll get an earful."

30.50 - Al also works downtown and sees plenty of incidents there too. He's asked about Mayor Gillingham's approach to deteriorating public safety.

"By far this is the worst I've ever seen it," Al says, and complains "I never see anyone get arrested." He also has criticism for Premier Wab Kinew- calling for more treatment and getting tougher on drug dealers.

40.00 Part 3- You'll hear the frustrating experiences of other EK residents trying to get help from the authorities and Schreyer, and the councillor's explanations and plan to meet with the community.

Listen for the feedback to the Sun column, the scepticism now facing Schreyer, and a surprising tip about one of the deaths.

How badly is City Hall failing the good people in Elmwood and EK trying to raise their families and live in peace?

Damn near 100%.

Aug 26 2024- Coun. Mayes To Hold Town Hall On City Transportation2050 Plan

Season 5 · Episode 18

mardi 27 août 2024Duration 52:16

The continuation of our interview with St. Vital councilor Brian Mayes has a few surprises for Episode 18.

Part 1- A shout-out to our listeners outside of Manitoba and the readers of Marty's column sin the Winnipeg Sun. Hear a review of the impact of recent stories about Plan20-50 as an example of the work supported by our sponsors and donors.

8.28 Part 2- Civic issues relating to public information and consultation, and city staff falling far short of their duty:

- Is the city Transportatation2050 plan merely formalizing an existing administration practice to "Design streets with emergency vehicles in mind?" Mayes confirms that even as chair of Community Services, he has "no memory of ever talking about that."

He commits to asking how city staff decided there was not a "significant" delay to emergency service response caused by the Goulet bike lane bottleneck.

14.30 - Mayes says it was a "poor" decision by bureaucrats to give only one day's notice about pop-ups at local malls to explain Transportation2050 to the public. (Their excuse? it's not part of the public consultation process so there's no minimum notice required.)

He agrees that the purpose of those sessions is to give residents a chance to evaluate the plan and then tell their councilors what they think. The limited times and venues chosen excluded too many Winnipeggers.

"You'll show up at the mall? And nobody will spot that (pop-up)... I feel a town hall coming on."

Mayes will be focusing on the lack of planning for modifying St. Mary's Road to manage traffic flow.

18.00- Hear Mayes describe:

- How planners made assumptions when no money is alloted, wanting to "authorize density on the idea that oh, there'll be a bridge here (to the U of M)... it just seemed hare-brained."

- "I voted for a bunch of this stuff under Mayor Bowman's fairly grandiose plans and the bills are now coming due... I think we'd be better off saying we can't afford to do a ton of this stuff, let's revise Our Winnipeg down to a much shorter list."

- "The disconnect between the planning and the transportation has got to get better."

- Mayes compliments transit planners for paying attention to residents in his ward

- The city transportation plan was going to be subservient to the Metro region Plan2050, yet city bureaucrats admitted the WMR plan was only 'alluded' to in the City plan.

- Mayes has concerns about water and sewage capacity as housing expands in the city and nearby RMs.

"We can all say we want more housing but at the end of the day, we got to have a sewer system that can handle that and I'm not convinced that we do."

  • The Season 5 Funding Drive is at $2905, with a target of $5600. Email Martygoldlive@gmail.com to arrange to support the podcast and ActionLIne.ca today!

32.00- Part 3- Crime and Public Safety update

We have the latest on the August closing of 3 convenience stores, in EK, St. B, and the West End.

40.25 - You won't believe the extraordinary measures that retailers are taking to secure snack and grocery items. These closures and security concerns are devastating to the employees and degrade the quality of life for the community.

- A trio of intoxicated teenage thugs - armed with a machete and an ax - ruined the lives of a 15 year old boy on Selkirk and an 80 year old homeowner on Pritchard this month. The north end wonders, do these kids have a social worker involved? Maybe Nahanni Fontaine can tell them.

The new column in the Sun exposed years of complaints about cyclists and others racing at high speed over the Tremblay bridge into the Archwood neighborhood. Animals have been hurt, and private property damaged.

https://winnipegsun.com/opinion/columnists/gold-speeding-cyclists-on-collision-course-with-homeowners

St. Boniface councilor Matt Allard did what he usually does when aggressive cyclists endanger the public- nothing.

You'll hear an update from Saturday night about the kind of accidents waiting to happen that were witnessed.

Oct 23 2023- "Randomly Wiping Out Parking" For Bike Lanes Must Stop, Says Coun. Wyatt

Season 3 · Episode 20

mardi 24 octobre 2023Duration 55:31

In Episode 20 we interview Transcona Councilor Russ Wyatt, following up on his remarks at a Public Works committee meeting challenging the anti-car agenda of Ft. Rouge rep Sherri Rollins.

Wyatt spoke out against the bike lane and road closure demands of Rollins, and wants the City to adapt a local improvement petition process to get stakeholder approval of bike lanes, instead of "randomly wiping out parking for residents and small businesses."

4:38 - Wyatt explains why he questioned Rollins about the loss of Osborne Village parking for new bike lanes:

- The parking management plans for new developments were approved when hundreds more public parking spots were available. Wyatt asked Rollins if the plans are being revised, and she fumed.

- Hear him blast the faux "public consultations" held in the Village and in St. Boniface; he complains the City is telling residents and mom & pop shops "this is happening whether you like it or not."

- "Other cities have established programs to upgrade intersections along major regional streets, we're doing the exact opposite."

- The City has $180M to properly repair every sub-par street, and treat business and home owners fairly, "if we have the vision and political will to do it."

Marty points out, the MSM has defended the rigging of the bike lane process, which is counter-productive to the public interest.

16:40 Part 2 with Coun. Russ Wyatt

- Wyatt confirms that City Councilors were never informed that 99 parking spots were being erased around Goulet and Marion for bike lanes in the St. Boniface Hospital district, and never heard of a plan to remove parking on Traverse.

- From Arlington in the west end to Youville in St. B, the total parking loss for bike lanes is almost 400 parking spaces. No one could have run for Mayor on that platform and win.

- Wyatt says that Mayor Scott Gillingham promised the Chamber of Commerce he'd be focused on 'customer service'. But instead, small businesses are being hammered by a biased bureaucracy.

"The Goulet project could have been stopped by this Mayor... I don't know why the tail is wagging the dog." said Wyatt,

24.00 Hear the roll call - 7 of the current members of Winnipeg Council, including Wyatt, voted to accept the audit of the Assiniboine Bike Lane a decade ago.

They vowed in Jan. 2012 to ensure the public and affected businesses and property owners were given full information about potential impacts of roadway changes. Will they stand up to the bike lobby as they promised?

"I remember when that bike lane went down and all hell broke loose... If we take the word of the Mayor, 'the culture has to change'. When?" asks Wyatt.

Later this week- more with Russ Wyatt about the state of the City, and more about yet another proposed business-busting bike lane.

34:24 Part 3 - 'Seig Heil' hailed at Jewish protesters

- Marty provides a round-up of antisemitic and pro-Hamas activities in Winnipeg, including Nazi imagery at protest marches, and harassment of Jews in the community (one window shot out and counting).

- A columnist in the University of Manitoba newspaper said the Islamist gang rape and butchering of civilians in the Sinai was 'understandable': https://themanitoban.com/2023/10/destruction-of-gaza-forecasted-in-film/45874/

- The blow-up between competing rallies at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights shows that the police made a big mistake by not acting the first time an Israeli flag was stolen, in 2021.

The local Palestinian spokesman, who lauded Hitler's genocide against Jews in the past, told the media "that's just the way things go". Do Mayor Gillingham and Premier Kinew accept that?

Oct. 20 2023- Kinew Eases Into Manitoba’s Left Turn

Season 3 · Episode 19

samedi 21 octobre 2023Duration 54:25

We tidy up some closing notes on the Manitoba election to start off Episode 19, with a review of the appointments to cabinet by NDP Premier Wab Kinew.

His Addictions Minister has already assured the media a "safe injection" site is planned for somewhere... will Bernadette Smith volunteer the neighborhood she lives in for the location? Hear how a 'free drugs' policy is eroding NDP support in BC.

10.40- A listener steered Marty Gold to the video of Global's election night interview with Douglad Lamont to review.

Accordingly, we correct the record and apologize to reporter Rosanna Hempel - she had the details right, and it was her colleague who royally screwed up.

15:24 Part 2 - Terrorist supporters hacked PC leader Heather Stefanson's IG account, as pro-Hamas marches continue unabated across the country.

In Winnipeg the demonstrations have been less volatile than in the east, but continue to spout genocidal chants. Listeners alerted Marty to Winnipeg newsrooms airing those chants as part of their uncritical news coverage as well as debunked claims Israel bombed a hospital.

* To sponsor podcasts /donate by email / send along news tips:  Email martygoldlive@gmail.com

20.20- Winnipeg listeners may want to ask the Mayor and City Councilor to take action after antisemitic hate chants were incorporated into an 'otherwise peaceful' rally on Broadway.

At a similar 'pro-Palestine' rally in Toronto, an interview put a young woman in the spotlight for insisting the Hamas murders of 1400 Israelis was "justified". People immediately dug into her background, which she falsified.

Hear Marty's email exchange with Geoff Matheson of Convenience Group, who says Essra Karam never worked there and the outrage directed at the company was "devastating to our company and our employees..."

"Her employment with Convenience Group was false information which was gathered from misinformation on LinkedIn... I believe all of Convenience Group’s current employees have the same values as I do.  I do not condone or support any individuals (or groups) opinions or actions, that bring harm or hardship to another person”.

Marty also provides another example of how deep the pro-Hamas rot goes in Canada, especially in Universities, quoting from a PhD candidate at York who is now on a work-to-rule.

We detail Dina Alkilani's previous tweets and comments that prove her hatred extends not only to "IsraHel", but to anyone defending Jews- including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

36:02 Part 3 - From The Mailbag

Hear about the rigged City of Winnipeg survey on reduced speed neighborhoods; the radical rants of the anti-car VisionZero crowd; and more criminal activity associated with a homeless camp in St. Boniface that maybe, for once, Coun. Matt Allard should pay attention to.

Marty concludes Episode 19 with the announcement of a special interview that will be posted Sunday night with a City Councilor who has a lot to say about bike lanes, traffic gridlock, and city "engineering" practices. You won't want to miss it!

Oct 17 2023- Hamas Celebrated Across Canada, "Where Evil Comes To Thrive"

Season 3 · Episode 18

mardi 17 octobre 2023Duration 44:14

Episode 18 provides a rundown of the recent actions and statements of supporters of Hamas across Canada, including in Winnipeg.

You'll hear about the organization behind the cross-country rallies and the link to a terror group that takes credit for being part of the murderous October 7th raid on Israel. TGCTS compiled the genocidal chants heard on our streets at the events and the harassment of Jews that followed.

Part 1- A Winnipeg Sun story confirms that City Hall was the stage for terrorist propaganda on Thanksgiving Day. 'Gaza supporters' characterized the orgy of torture and murder of infants and grandparents as "retaliation"- an excuse even Prime Minister Trudeau refuted.

Marty Gold walks through the competing rallies and marches this week, the strong but belated statements of Mayor Gillingham and Police Chief Danny Smyth decrying the glorification of Islamist killers as 'freedom fighters', the harassment of Jewish university students, and reviews local MSM coverage and corrections.

The Winnipeg media don't report on the pro-Hitler online posts made by the local spokesman for the Palestinian community in the past. We do.

* You can sponsor podcasts /donate by email/or send along story tips:  martygoldlive@gmail.com

21:00 Part 2 - As Marty explains, political leaders in Winnipeg turtled when a pro-Israel rally was mobbed on May 21 2021, screaming the same threats that played out in the Sinai. Now, maybe, elected officials will take Islamist antisemitism seriously.

A Cross-Canada round-up- Hear how:

- the Jewish community in Winnipeg offered support to a traveling performer isolated by the rest of the troupe

- a 7 year old boy was beaten up in Mississauga,

- arrests were made after threats to Jewish students in Toronto, and after antisemitic violence in Vancouver,

- Calgary was host to a dreadful love-in for terrorism, led by a radical activist who was welcomed to Parliament Hill last year because 'diversity is our strength'.

33.00 Listen to the condemnation of our country becoming a place "where evil comes to thrive" by Tristin Hopper.

He said media coverage by CBC and other outlets was "stomach-churning", that terror-cheering unions like CUPE cannot be trusted, and asked "so when do we declare the Palestinian flag a hate symbol. I'm not seeing a lot of them being waved by people who don't support mass murder..."

As France, Germany and the UK take action against what Imam of Peace describes as "Islamist Naziism" and the EU withholds funding for Gaza, the Trudeau government ducks.

Over a dozen American universities saw harassment and violence by "pro-Palestinian" groups as BLM Chicago celebrated the attack on Israeli civilians. Canadian universities and BLM supporters are no different, but the media won't tell you about it.

As Marty explains, radical Islamists and Marxists promote "decolonization" as a means to an end- it starts with the Jews, then it will be the Christians, and then other ethnicities.

Oct 14 2023 - Russ Wyatt Blasts Bike Lanes As Rollins' Anti-Car Agenda Stalls

Season 3 · Episode 17

dimanche 15 octobre 2023Duration 53:24

Marty Gold opens Episode 17 by thanking listeners who've expressed their concern and support after the war started in Israel. Those issues, the local impact and local media coverage will be in the next episode. We filed a story as soon as we learned of the kidnapping of former Winnipeg resident Vivian Silver, and provide her own words to describe her career working for peace:

Hamas Terrorists Kidnap Peace Activist Originally from Winnipeg ******

4.30 - It was back to the future for Transcona Councilor Russ Wyatt! He reminded fellow Public Works committee members that installing the Assiniboine bike lane in 2010 resulted in perpetual gridlock downtown- and he's not going to let Coun. Sherri Rollins make it worse with her latest urban visionary ideas.

You'll hear a lot of audio from the Oct. 10 Public Works meeting, with Marty connecting the dots.

9:17 - "Vision Zero" champion Rollins, whose Fort Rouge ward includes downtown, appeared in delegation to "implore" that the Public Works committee immediately order plans for design changes at major intersections to thwart traffic because of the "frequency" and "predictability" of pedestrian deaths... of course it's all "urban form" approved by the bike lobby.

14.03 - If her presentation didn't make sense, don't worry, because Marty unravels it- explaining the background of the idea, abandoned by the Manitoba Club, to close the Assiniboine intersection at Main Street. Rollins, clearly uninformed, insists it must be revived.

21:59-  Hear Russ Wyatt quiz Rollins about her anti-car ideas, asking how many parking spots are lost for new bike lanes in Osborne Village. (Rollins answered "Quite a few", which by the way, is 206.)

He noted other factors Rollins ignores, like property owner rights; then they spar over her next election bid.

25:52 – Marty explains how Rollins fudged her answers.

Yes- your financial support will get results because we have the passion to fight for you. Our track record proves it. Donate via paypal.com/paypalme/MartyGoldMedia

31:51 Part 2 - Audio of Councilors Wyatt, Lukes, Chambers and Sharma debating the 3-headed motion.

34:02 -  You'll hear the instant Wyatt and Chambers realize the Rollins plan to block the Assiniboine corner means 'no more left off of Main?"

Listen to annoyed public service experts and Coun. Chambers walk thru the current and proposed traffic flow and how "This isn't a complete street concept."

39:52 – We review how a drive from St. Boniface to the Hotel Fort Garry will be delayed by this iteration of "Vision Zero".

41:14 - Russ Wyatt provides a history lesson and harkens back to our coverage on Kick-FM. He warned councilors: "'Imposing the bike lanes on Assiniboia" led to 13 years of headaches.

Based on a City audit our reporting provoked: "(the mayor) said we'd never do it again... but here we are again, proposing to close something which is not broken."

Wyatt pipes up for the residents of downtown and the suburbs "who actually take that left turn..." because Broadway was turned into a total shambles. "Now we're proposing to make it even worse??"

Wyatt also mentions legal repercussions past - and in the future. "Why do we have staff doing reports on things we aren't going to be doing?""

Related: Watch our YouTube report from April that reviews the dishonest process to ram through St. Boniface bike lanes, and how that plan will duplicate the intention to ruin both River and Stradbrook - as Wyatt described.

City Secret Revealed: Marion Bike Lanes Plan Will Steal 99 Parking Spots – April 16/23

Also related: Months after we warned of a disaster, CTV reported Friday that trucks and ambulances in St. Boniface are being obstructed by new bike lanes.

Oct 4 2023 - Wab’s Waffle to the Right Wins

Season 3 · Episode 16

vendredi 6 octobre 2023Duration 54:31

The cult of personality - and what used to be called a high 'Q' factor - helped propel Wab Kinew and the NDP to a majority government on Tuesday.

In Episode 16, Marty Gold looks at the Manitoba election, the winner's careful steps to the right on key platform issues and how a compliant media - as we discussed here - was all-in for their former cohort.

Kinew of course, was never described as “heartless” for never apologizing to the cab drivers he ripped off and fought, and he was never described as “heartless” for never apologizing to the common law wife he dragged by the hair after the guests left.

Who were the other gangbangers that hopped into the taxi with Wab Kinew and had no intention of paying for the ride? The media never asked to speak with them. Just like it appears they never asked to speak to Kinew's ex, Tara Hart.

It’s all an extension of the far-left narrative that we analyzed in January - The Stories Winnipeg MSM Tell, and Some They Don’t Tell.

Marty describes the guiding hand of Brian Topp, who successfully camouflaged the dreadful Rachel Notley in Alberta, and then sold the public a kinder and gentler (than the Tories) Manitoba NDP. The dark days of Greg Selinger didn’t present an obstacle and the media gladly played along when former Premier Gary Doer, who apparently had never met Kinew, dropped a hearty endorsement of Wab.

Kinew kept the fuse on his temper dry, kept the anti-business, critical race theory radical candidates under control, and then waffled to the right by saying he’d continue affordability cheques started by the PCs and getting tough on gangsters.

Marty also looks at the Tory campaign, that needed to run on a happy note of fiscal recovery, health care hiring and a modern economic plan featuring rare earth minerals - but, they didn’t get the tune right.

11.00 - Listener reactions: the election, the results, their disillusionment with Manitoba politics and the social engineering the NDP will undertake to entrench their ideology.

"You thought Selinger was bad."

"Hopelessly and thoroughly unimpressed with the candidates in my area"

Marty ends with a quote from WinnipegTribune.ca: "Manitobans will have to remain vigilant, active participants in the democratic process to ensure that their province prospers and that any potential mistakes are rectified in due course."

20:40 Part 2 - Election officials screw-up

Miracle of miracles, the Editor of the Free Press and TGCTS agree on something! Elections Manitoba makes "conspiracy theories" look good by insisting it was "a free and fair election" after broken voting machines, delayed vote counts, and "dodging the media on the day after a provincial general election." One candidate relayed a serious problem with proving the vote counts are accurate.

33.40 - Corus Media screws up even worse

Marty was at Dougald Lamont's last campaign appearance on Monday and watched his departure from the political scene after a bitter defeat on election night.

Global TV and CJOB made his night even worse with the single worst election night interview in broadcast history. We have the audio of Lamont's reaction to what was said to him live on air, and how the Global panel tried to hide their embarrassment.

Oct 1 2023- Why Winnipeg Media is Silent on Evidence of Anti-Christian Hate Crime

Season 3 · Episode 15

mardi 3 octobre 2023Duration 45:19

In Episode 15, we present another Lesson in Journalism, and explain how the media narrative during the Manitoba election kept certain inconvenient facts out of the public square.

As Marty Gold describes, throughout the campaign the media has pumped up themes like "social justice", public safety and health care, and it's been largely one-sided. They certainly didn't look into the background of major NDP figures and demand accountability.

The media controls the narrative by promoting far-left causes they sympathize with and dampening inconvenient facts contradicting the narrative.

Has any TV newsroom mentioned the defacing of Heather Stafanson's constituency office yet? Signaling it's merely 'minor vandalism' - who benefits from that silence? The politicians supporting the intimidation of opponents, perhaps.

This episode is about a small church that was targeted by thieves. Only one newsroom reported on it, and proved that when it comes to crime in Winnipeg, the narrative is tightly controlled.

In this instance, it started with the Free Press headline that makes no mention of the church, or the break-in. Marty walks through the odd twists and turns the narrative takes, with diversions into unrelated information about shoplifting and 'food insecurity'. Anything to make the break-in sound like an oddity and not a big deal- because the newspaper focused on how the church fridge was emptied.

16:38 While the Free Press didn't check the crime angle, we did. You'll hear Don Woodstock of JamRock Security, who hadn't heard about this case, confirm that churches are increasingly targeted.

Later in the podcast, he reacts to learning the full extent of the damage to church property, and the lack of alarm about an apparent hate crime from the media and from authorities.

20:20 -Part 2 - The newspaper article buried the lede all the way to the end. And hid the most heinous act of the invaders, in a photo caption.

Hear what they did- and why a similar disgusting act against any other religious place of worship in the city would get front-page coverage - but not for a Ukrainian Catholic congregation.

That would have up-ended the official media narrative, that the perps - who cased the building for a week - were simply down and out folk needing food and are victims of society.

Marty describes going to the church, where he took photos and spoke with the victims. He tells more of their story, the fundraiser the food was intended to be sold at, and the ripple effect on the neighborhood.

26:25 - Don Woodstock returns to assail the media ignoring this serious incident. He says the time has come for newsroom honchos to justify their manipulation of crime stories to minimize criminal behavior.

"Mainstream media have gone numb... (reporters) will tell you they know what's happening but they can't report it."

"If you attack a church which is a corner stone of our democracy... it needs to be thoroughly investigated and should be exposed to the public."

But that would disrupt the narrative.

It would raise questions about criminal rings and fencing operations, homeless camps, and a city increasingly in fear walking out their door at night, while being told the criminals deserve sympathy and it isn't their fault doors and windows get kicked in.

And it also raises questions about Police Chief Danny Smyth, and why he hasn't spoken out against this hate crime, or the threats that churches in Winnipeg face today.

30:26 - Marty closes out the Lesson in Journalism, the final podcast prior to the Manitoba election. Sadly, while the Free Press downplayed a Hate Crime after a Winnipeg Church was targeted, the rest of the media didn't care at all. Not even about the meatballs.

Sept 29 2023- Kinew Has No Clue On Crime, Says Security Expert Don Woodstock

Season 3 · Episode 14

vendredi 29 septembre 2023Duration 43:00

Hear our special guest for Episode 14 give his views on the crime-fighting platforms of the parties in the Manitoba election- and in particular, on the qualifications of Wab Kinew to become Premier.

In a pointed half-hour conversation with Marty Gold, the owner of Jamrock Security, Don Woodstock, says little he heard during the campaign was going to turn the tide against social disorder and street-level thuggery.

On the PC's, he said their proposals were "a step in the right direction" but that Heather Stafanson "stopped short" of the bold commitment needed to remove thieves and muggers from besieged neighborhoods and homeless encampments from our streets and riverbanks.

Woodstock makes the point his company makes money protecting residents and businesses from crime but that he is dedicated to slashing crime rates. "If you do the crime, do the time" has been lost in the judicial process and the result is an often- violent criminal underclass emboldened to do whatever they want- break-ins, retails thefts, and transit muggings.

9.00 In Woodstock's view, the NDP crime platform was empty and hypocritical- and he has harsh words for Wab Kinew.

"Who is it that actually promoted this guy and pushed him forward?"

"If my daughter came home and said Dad I met this man... but he had done all of the things Wab Kinew did I would never invite him to my table to sit down. He cannot come into my house period end of story."

A recap of Kinew's misdeeds, with assaults of spouses and cabbies, speeding tickets, and other people's money - makes it simple for Woodstock.

"Anybody who is going to run for public office, you have to be able to at least pass some mustard test. One of those for me personally has been... when you write and you record a song that calls women whores and bitches and whatever, that there draws a line for me..." said Woodstock, harkening back a decade when Kinew was described as a rapper and poet.

Citing Bob Marley and other artists, Woodstock insists "None of them described women the way Wab Kinew does! Not one of them!"

"Why then don't we believe the victims?" The harassment and abuse Kinew's former spouse Tara Hart endured and his avoidance of restorative justice means, 'you have to find the people you done wrong to... and listen to their story, and then you can start that journey... you can't run away from yourself Wab."

16.00 Wab Kinew's proposals are hollow, said Woodstock: "Nobody wants your $300 Wab," pointing to the harsh reality his clients, "union reps too" face when coming home to a shambled house and even finding their pets maimed.

Instead, "Show me a plan that's going to stop people from kicking in people's doors. They know if they get caught they're going to get a slap on the wrists... you can't be defacing people's property and nothing will happen to you so you run amok."

The discussion includes reviewing the visit Woodstock and Marty made to the Waterfront homeless camp this summer, the refusal of public officials to help area business and homeowners deal with the filth and damage. Woodstock also points a finger or two back to Ottawa, Justin Trudeau, and Trudeau and Kinew's federal ally, Jagmeet Singh.

Woodstock, whose company has sponsored the Crime Courts and Public Safety Update for the election period, gives a ringing endorsement for the efforts of Actionline.ca to restore an alternative platform for information and opinion in Winnipeg instead of the Trudeau paid-for narratives in the MSM.

33:52 -  Part 2 - Marty has a preview of our upcoming story about a Winnipeg church.
