Hi this is Scott Tarcy and welcome to the Engineering Entrepreneur Podcast I’m a mechanical engineer and the president of CADdesignhelp.com. My company does CAD work and prototyping. I love designing and inventing products and creating businesses around that activity. There are many podcasts out there about entrepreneurship and a few about inventing, but I have yet to find a podcast specifically about the engineering and technical side of entrepreneurship Since I couldn’t find the exact podcast that interests me as a design engineer and entrepreneur, I decided to go out and create it myself My strategy with this podcast is to interview engineers, designers and inventors who have created businesses around their inventions and products I specifically want to focus on the engineering and design side of their products and inventions

Hone Your Writing Skills – Pam Hurley – Ep 138

mercredi 13 septembre 2023Duration 32:36

Pam Hurley is founder and president of Hurley Write, Inc. She helps corporations fix the writing problems that are costing them time & money.

Everyone must write papers in high school and college (write 10 pages on subject X) but in the real world this is not how it works.

In the business world, the importance of writing is clear communication. For example, I write SOP’s (standard operating procedures) for most processes in my business. This makes it easy to train a new employee.

Number one tip:

Plan for good writing.

Universal Robotics–Brian Kobus–Ep 137

mercredi 9 août 2023Duration 27:11

Brian Kobus is the southeast Business Development Manager for Universal Robots based out of Charlotte, NC.

I personally met Brian during a demonstration he was running with a robot. He showed us a simple pick and place example of the robot moving a block from one area to another

The UR robot is easy to program. No code is needed.

When it comes to repetitive tasks, getting a robot can pay for itself very quickly. In addition to labor savings, robots do not need bathroom breaks, time off and do not make mistakes.

Number one tip

Don’t be intimidated by robotics, once you learn it the next project will be a lot easier
