This Bonus episode of The Eden Podcast is about Tabitha Center #316 – reaching and disciplemaking among at-risk women through vocational training based on the positive insights from Eden. Claudine Selenga and her husband Nubako Selenga founded and direct this ministry to 7,000 at-risk women in Kinshasa, DRCongo and beyond.

The story: Claudine and her husband Nubako had served as the leaders of their denomination in the northwestern region of the DR Congo. They moved south to the capital city of Kinshasa as Nubako began international travel heading up a new missionary association to other countries in Africa. Meanwhile Claudine was raising their six children and was open to what her next ministry activities would be.

Here is the remarkable timeline of the ministry that grew from one center in their home to multiple centers serving 7,000 at-risk women in 2024! Now located in 300 local churches they spread the Good News through Bible study and vocational training.

They discovered that many of the young neighborhood women had resorted to prostitution due to their extreme poverty. Many lacked the skills for gainful employment. Most did not know the Lord or how to grow as Christians.

So Claudine started a home Bible study group. Her first priority was evangelism and discipleship. And she has retained that priority in all that has developed since the start.

She observed their lack of marketable skills. Being a seamstress herself, among other things, Claudine got two hand cranked sewing machines and began teaching sewing to the young women. She called the work The Tabitha Center.

The young women loved the song time, the Bible lessons, the prayer time, the skills classes and more! A dozen young women started attending at first. Then 20, 25 and more started coming!

They added lessons on home economics, small business management skills, cosmetology classes, restaurant management and more.

The Kinshasa City Team led by Pastor Nubako Selenga ministry now includes these outreaches:

• Tabitha Centers (reaching at-risk women with discipleship training and vocational skills)
• Global Fingerprints Tabitha (an extension of Tabitha that includes literacy training)
• Follow Me (reaching men through vocational training)
• Kids Action Network (teaching children through Bible storytelling)
• Planting 100 new churches (growing healthy, holy churches in Kinshasa, pop. 17 million)

The VERY important verses in Genesis 3 are God's words to the Serpent tempter, to the woman and to the man. MANY people have missed the meanings God communicates through the Hebrew word patterns in these verses. There are THREE word patterns that Dr. Joy Fleming has highlighted for us as reported in The Book of Eden, Genesis 2-3.

1. The Chiasm, or the rainbow pattern. 
2. The Linchpin in which two key words in Line 1 of Genesis 3:16 are linked to the verses below and above.
3. The Four Lines of Genesis 3:16. 
   1. In Line 1 God TAKES ACTION in TWO ways. Sadly, these are covered over by most translations.
   2. In Line 2 God EXPLAINS what grief she will experience raising children in a fallen world.
   3. In Line 3 God EXPLAINS that her heart hasn't changed toward her husband 
   4. In Line 4 God EXPLAINS and warns her that his heart has changed horribly.

Beth Thomas is a Certified General Appraiser specializing in land and special purpose institutional real estate valuation. She has worked in several major fields within Real Estate for 35 years. She has been married 40 years, with five grown children and three grandsons.

In her professional life, research is the backbone of valuation. “Just the Facts, Ma’am.” (Reference: The old Dragnet TV series quote). Determined to know what the Truth is, even if she didn’t like it, she applied her research skills for the past 20 years to learn how to learn what the Bible meant to tell us. A Native of Holland, Loes studied in London where she met her husband. They moved to Asia where she found Jesus while attending a Baptist church. Looking for answers to her practical questions she came across the books and materials of Joy and Bruce Fleming and found them to be life changing!

In Genesis 3:14 God confirmed the conflict already underway between the serpent tempter and the woman. Had she been attacked? Yes! Had she unmasked the serpent tempter, in effect denouncing him before the Judge of all? Yes! 

God honored her words by using them against her attacker in judgment saying "Because you have done this." He then introduced the Good News in verse 15 that would be confirmed in Line 1 of 3:16. The woman's offspring would crush the head of the serpent tempter! There is much more to Genesis 3 than you may have seen before! This is Chapter 5 in The Book of Eden, Genesis 2-3 by Bruce C. E.
