Protect Your Health - Don't Let Stress Take You Down
Season 1 · Episode 10
jeudi 1 mai 2025 • Duration 01:04:15
In this episode of The Corporate Burnouts Podcast, we have a special guest, Caleena Karstens. Caleena is a fellow corporate burnout with a backround in hospital administration. It was crazy to hear her stories about 2020 in the hospital setting and her dismissal from a job that was making her sick.
We loved the conversation with Caleena about things you can do to manage your stress while in corporate and rid your body of the trauma you are still holding after leaving.
Caleena is now the proud owner of The Renewal Haven. She is a wellness practitioner bringing message therapy, reiki and coaching together to help body, mind and spirit. She gave us a great overview of Reiki, one of the number one ways that she helps people rid trauma from their body.
She talked through the best ways to find a reiki practitioner that's best for you in your area. She also talked about her life coaching specialty (helping people find their joy/passion) and told us about the huge amount of specialties in life coaching. There are life coaches for everything! She recommends finding someone specific to your needs.
We absolutely loved this entire conversation with Caleena. She taught us so much and she can do the same for you! If you are looking to connect with her, please find her using these links -

Align Your Job With Your Life, Not Vice Versa
Season 1 · Episode 9
jeudi 24 avril 2025 • Duration 58:03
This week our episode digs into what it's like to be a woman in gas and oil or male dominated industries in general. We had a great time with our guest, Kristen Hogue, hearing her experience. She went through her entire career in oil and gas and shared her business, Scout Guide Abilene, with us.
Kristen's journey through oil and gas was a bit of a roller coaster because climbing the corporate ladder didn't lead where she imagined for awhile, but she made her way to the perfect job for her. She landed somewhere that supports her owning a business on the side so she can make a living while she builds her business.
It was really cool to hear about Scout Guide, the franchise she purchased, to curate a beautiful book that promotes local businesses and helps people find the best ways to shop local.
We enjoyed our conversation with Kristen about going to college or not. We love her stance on "find what you love and are good at and go do it". We completly agree! Even if you went to school for a specific career and you hate it, get out. Go follow your dreams and be happy!
We ended this pod by reading some comments from a post we made on TikTok asking women in a male dominated field "what is the craziest thing that a man said to you at work?" We hope that most of you haven't dealt with this.

Networking Like A PRO
Season 1 · Episode 8
jeudi 17 avril 2025 • Duration 01:04:10
Welcome to the podcast, Dena Woulfe, former nurse turned holistic nurse. It was incredible to hear her "corporate" story about her time working in a hospital, the biggest greed machine there is, and what led her to leave and start her own thing. It's crazy to be doing a job that you don't believe in and we are so proud of what she accomplished after leaving.
Dena shares with us that she built her entire business by networking and building relationships, but it was a little difficult because she is naturally an introvert. We definitely related to that, even Mandy Holt, who is an extrovert who becomes very shy at networking events.
Dena also shares how important it is to make building relationships and doing 1 to 1 meetings the focus of networking. Networking is not for sales pitches!
Her big secret to networking success is to bring value to every single meeting and new relationship. She says "givers gain" and she's exactly right. If you give first, you will always get something back in return. The sad part is that not everyone knows this and still walks into a meeting and immediatly starts to attempt to sell to the room.
Her next secret is to create relationships with people who do the same thing or something similar to you because those people are the best referral partners. You generally have the same client avatar and you are way more likely to send and receive business together. No one is your competition!
Dena's last secret is that networking isn't just to build your business, it is also a great place for job seekers to find a job. People would be surprised how many people will connect you with their own networks to help you find a job or even start a business. Amazing!

Preparing To Take A Leap Into Business
Season 1 · Episode 7
jeudi 10 avril 2025 • Duration 01:29:39
We started this episode introducing our amazing guest, Angel Magasano. Her story about her years in corporate will make you angry for what she had to go through. And her experience with raising kids while in corporate is all too familiar to so many. She shared her experience being a stay at home mom and how she accidently started her first business.
It was really interesting to hear how Little Black Book started in 2012 and how much it's grown over the last 13 years. And even more interesting to hear about all of the businesses that have grown out of LBB. The best thing about all of Angel's businesses is that they all focus on supporting and lifting up other women in business. What a great way to pay it forward!
Angel digs into her road to entreprenuership and the misconceptions she had and the mistakes she made and continues to see others make while starting a business. She then gave us her steps to starting a successful business. These steps are so important and we think that any entreprenuer would definitely agree with every point!
We also talked about businesses that people started after they left corporate and how possible it is to make your passion a business. How cool!
Last, we talked about the Freya Business Mentorship Program that Little Black Book offers. The next class starts in May and is a 6 month program. If you are interested in applying, please use this link. https://forms.gle/ZvinQ7URhzpXhXUZ9

Signs It's Time To Quit Corporate
Season 1 · Episode 6
jeudi 3 avril 2025 • Duration 39:57
This week, we talk about how much fun we had during our week together. Our first in person podcast, with our first guest was awesome, our branding shoot for the podcast was awesome and our time together, when we never see each other in person, was of course awesome! We had the best first guest and the best photographer. If you are looking for a photographer in the St. Louis area, we recommend Abbie Rudolph aka Abbie Takes Pictures. You can find her at abbietakespictures.com.
We also dig into some comments from a TikTok we posted asking people what their sign was that it was time to leave corporate. Some of these were horrible bosses and some were real reasons to leave corporate all together, but all good reasons to leave their jobs. Whoa!
We unpack the reasons we had to leave corporate, again it comes back to burnout. We also talked about the signs that it was time to leave that we missed for years.
Last, we go through some tell tale ways you can't figure out if it's your time to leave corporate. Our big takeaway is to listen to your gut!
Please don't forget to tell us your corporate secrets! Go to https://www.thecorporateburnouts.com/secrets to do this now!

jeudi 27 mars 2025 • Duration 01:08:35
For the first time ever, we’re recording in person together—AND we’re welcoming our very first guest, Bre K.!
Bre K. is a fourth-generation small business owner who escaped corporate life after enduring a toxic boss who banned office friendships, insane levels of nepotism, and coworkers so miserable they were literally crying at their desks but felt trapped by the paycheck. Now, as an operational strategist, Bre helps small businesses implement procedures and systems to actually support their teams.
She’s also sharing her secret weapon: the 3 Rules of Engagement that every workplace (corporate or not) should adopt:
Rule 1: Feedback is just information.
Rule 2: 10% of every idea is good.
Rule 3: It’s not the person, it’s the process.
And of course, no episode is complete without a little Reddit drama—Bre gives her take on an Am I the Asshole story that might just hit close to home.
Tune in for laughs, corporate horror, and real strategies to make work not suck.

Promotions: Worth It Or Not?
Season 1 · Episode 4
jeudi 20 mars 2025 • Duration 53:29
This week we dove all the way into promotions. In our experience, promotions can be a huge move toward success and happiness but can also be disappointing when they aren't all they were cracked up to be. We discuss promotions that we thanked the lord we didn't get and ones that changed our lives for the better. We also talked about ones that we saw people get with no raise attached, like WHAT? But we want to hear from you, have you ever had a promotion that wasn't what you expected?

Work-Life Balance: Is It Attainable In Corporate?
Season 1 · Episode 2
jeudi 6 mars 2025 • Duration 53:42
On this first full episode, we dig into work-life balance, discussing the roadblocks we ran into and mistakes we made. We saw the end of relationships, lots of bitterness and even left corporate because we struggled so hard with work-life balance. The good news is, we also figured out that we are getting better at it post-corporate life!
We talk through tips for figuring out work-life balance, and if that's not attainable, work-life discipline or harmony. We even spilled the tea on a co-worker that we all judged for actually acheiving work-life balance. So unfair to her, but we have learned a lot since then!
Last, we read a couple stories that were applicable from the AITA sub-reddit. Help us decide if these people were the a-hole and drop a comment.
