US Open R2 - Rybakina no-shows, Djokovic makes history + Tiafoe-Shelton is SET(!)

Season 1 · Episode 453

jeudi 29 août 2024Duration 46:22

Joel and Kim are here to catch up on the second round action from Flushing Meadows in New York City, with the US Open now well underway in the hot, hot heat.

Frances Tiafoe and Ben Shelton have made their way through to setting up a highly anticipated US Open rematch in the 3rd round after their comfortable wins in the round of 64. Meanwhile, top seeds Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner safely progress, with Djokovic clocking up yet another milestone with 90 match wins now achieved at each of the 4 Grand Slams.

With Wimbledon Champion Barbora Krejickova ousted by Elena-Gabriela Ruse, and Karolina Pliskova retiring after 3 points against Jasmine Paolini, it hasn’t been the best of days for the Czech ladies. Harriet Dart and Katie Boulter also bow out, leaving no British women in the third round.

Joel and Kim also touch upon the epic first round encounter between Dan Evans and Karen Khachanov which has become the longest ever match in US Open history, and reflect on Emma Raducanu’s disappointing US Open and what has contributed to her poor result here yet again.

Wimbledon: Preview - Great draws for Swiatek + Djokovic, Brits get tricky tests, Venus returns

Season 1 · Episode 353

vendredi 30 juin 2023Duration 58:50

The Wimbledon Draw is out!

Fresh off the back of a trip to The Boodles earlier in the week, Kim and Chris dust off their Wimbledon tents, get their strawberries out and sink their Pimms-stained teeth into the 2023 Wimbledon Singles draws, looking at projected quarter final match ups, top seeds’ pathways and first round highlight matches.

They consider the draws quarter by quarter, make some potentially regrettable predictions and also reveal the anticipated Collect a Set player picks for this year’s Wimbledon edition.

In addition, the latest Wimbledon poster art generates some controversy at Tennis Weekly HQ and we hear from Felix Auger-Aliassime and Borna Coric about which player, past or present, they would join the Wimbledon Queue for.

Danish joy is also abundant with the news that Caroline Wozniacki will be returning to the tennis court in the near future.

French Open: QFs - Blockbuster semis are set, Sabalenka-Svitolina ends on salty stand-off
