Second Helpings - Jamie Oliver

Season 16

mercredi 28 août 2024Duration 45:42

We’re back for week 5 of our Second Helpings series, and it’s chef week! We were only going to do meals on wheels and travel to someone else's place if they were someone we had been angling for since series 1. And of course they were most certainly going to get THE chicken soup (I had a massive cold so it was selfishly suggested by moi). We went to meet the one and only Jamie Oliver! The Naked Chef, the people's champ, the person who taught most of us millennials how to cook. We grabbed Jamie at Jamie Oliver HQ after we watch him high five all his staff, kiss babies and see a team pickling sesh going on. He proclaims mum's balls are the best he's ever had, we talk a lot about family, the nostalgic smell of hibiscus, dyslexia, his wife eating gravy with a fork and holding back his cookbook Veg for years. We’re back next week for our final Second Helpings of this series, but boy are we going out with a bang, our favourite music legend and icon, we can’t wait!

Second Helpings - Paul & Mary McCartney

Season 16

mercredi 21 août 2024Duration 01:01:28

It’s week 4 of Second Helpings, and this was one of our most memorable episodes yet! Question, how do you behave when you have a music icon on your podcast? Well, you have a massive fight in front of him of course! Aside from a small bout of bickering, we had lunch with Sir Paul and Mary McCartney and talked about 30 years of Linda McCartney's legacy in the vegetarian food market. We hear about Mary’s adventurous childhood on tour with Wings, Paul talks about life after The Beatles and they share memories of becoming vegetarian with Linda cooking a macaroni turkey so Paul could carve something at Christmas. Lennie crowns them ‘the Vegeneers’, Paul talks about his famous margarita cocktail ‘Maccarita’ and explains the real way to eat Yorkshire puddings. He also offers us a step by step brief on how to make the perfect bagel, gives us a quick eye yoga lesson and reveals how the song Let It Be came about. We could have gone on forever!! Next week on Second Helpings it’s chef week, and we’re delving back into the archives for one of our very favourite foodie episodes...

Jordan Stephens

Season 16 · Episode 32

mercredi 22 mai 2024Duration 01:07:42

On this week's episode, we are joined by the delightful Jordan Stephens for a special live episode at The British Library as part of their 'Food Season’. This is Jordan’s first interview for his upcoming memoir, 'Avoidance, Drugs, Heartbreak & Dogs’ and it was a special evening. Mum & I served up some snacky bits and settled in with the gorgeous audience for a fab convo. Jordan told us about his time meeting David Attenborough, the food he ate at school and growing up, his struggles with ADHD, his lockdown spent in Margate, the return of Rizzle Kicks(!) and the story of his unforgettable 'Never Mind The Buzzcocks' hosting job! We loved every minute of this special live episode, thank you to everyone who came along and joined us for a delish Friday night in the library. Jordan’s fantastic upcoming memoir is released on 22nd August and is available to pre-order now.

LA Special - Christine Quinn

mercredi 18 mai 2022Duration 51:35

For this final LA episode, we have none other than the Queen bee of real estate, the ultimate ‘boss bitch’ with the best one liner stings & star of Selling Sunset, Christine Quinn.

We forgive the gorgeous Christine for joining us an hour late for bagels because she’s incredibly lovely and we talk all about BBQs in Texas, her mum’s Hungarian food, the best Lobster in France & her addiction to soda.

We talk expensive houses, difficult clients and going back on the show after giving birth. We could have listened to her all day. She was utterly charming and sweet.

Her brand new book ‘How to be a boss bitch’ is out tomorrow. Go and get a copy!

LA Special - Nancy Silverton

Season 13 · Episode 12

mercredi 11 mai 2022Duration 46:27

Up this week… another slice of LA with none other than a national treasure, superstar chef, author & queen of the American artisanal loaf - Nancy Silverton.

Famed for her sourdough starter, Nancy talks to us about her rise to the top, growing up in the valley, her obsession with pistachios & loving TV dinners at her grandmas.

We recorded this episode from Nancy's famous ‘Osteria Mozza’ restaurant on Melrose Avenue and were lucky enough to taste her famous chopped salad and also had a first in eating shrimp on a pizza.

Full of food and elegance.. enjoy! X

Nancy's London restaurant is Pizzeria Mozza at Treehouse London

LA Special - Jordan Firstman

Season 13 · Episode 11

mercredi 4 mai 2022Duration 45:38

Writer, film maker, king of impressions and the banana bread's publicist, Jordan Firstman joins us on this weeks special episode of Table Manners.

Mum made a delicious sirloin steak salad (shout out to Jess Damuck for the accompanying pea, cucumber and asparagus salad ) & we sipped leftover Greekmans natural wine. Jordan told us about his secret mash potato recipe, his ‘Wicked’ themed Barmitzvah, what life was like growing up in Long Island & where to get the best chicken wings in LA.

He won mum over and I'm sure he’ll win you over too. (Sadly the story about Shelving didn’t make it in but he can tell you about that another time) Enjoy!

Thomasina Miers

Season 13 · Episode 9

mercredi 20 avril 2022Duration 01:04:17

I’ve admired the wonderful chef Thomasina Miers for a long time so we were thrilled to welcome her to Table Manners.

Tommi kindly brought pud, but before we devoured her delicious chocolate cake with tequila and chilli, we discussed food activism, the importance of soil, Chefs for Schools, eating seasonally, food education & how to cook the perfect omelette, along with her love of Mexico and chillis.

Mum made a delicious Ottolenghi courgette frittata and it really was an inspiring lunch with this Wonder Woman. Thomasina's new book ‘Meat Free Mexican’ is out now (go make the choc cake) x
