Grab the tissues for this one.
I sit down with Azure, the creator of sober.chronicles.
Azure is a mom, a wife, a hospice nurse and a sobriety advocate.
Azure recently hit 18 months of sobriety. Yay!
Her main inspiration that led her to examining her own relationship with alcohol, came after losing her little sister, Karenza, at only 29 years due to complications of liver failure.
"The kindest, funniest, clumsiest soul I have ever known suffered so silently that nobody, and I mean NOBODY knew. You would have never guessed when she walked into a room with her infectious smile and laugh.
She suffered from anxiety and insomnia and tried everything in her power to just try to sleep. Using prescription and over the counter sleep aids, in addition to wine, she tried desperately to calm her mind and rest.
But her liver couldn't handle it. She woke up one morning in full-fledged liver failure and battled it for 5 months before she died.
This entire account, all of the effort I put into making sure this doesn't keep happening to people, is to honor my sister. I will continue to educate about the harms of alcohol. I will continue to advocate for sobriety.
I will continue to use scare tactics if I have to.
Because this shit is REAL. And alcohol should scare you.
ESPECIALLY if it's used in conjunction with any type of anxiety medication and/or Tylenol PM.
I recover out loud so nobody like Karenza has to die in silence.
If you are struggling, PLEASE reach out. You are not alone.
You don't have to do this alone.
You are loved."

Free Guide to Alcohol-Free Living
In this episode I chat with Ginger Robinson, known to her followers as Mrs. Robinson. Ginger is a 53-year-old online content creator and media personality from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She has been sober since 2003, after many MANY attempts to stop drinking.A suburban mom of 2 older kids, a son who’s 18 and a 28-year-old daughter, Ginger feels as if she’s lived multiple lifetimes, categorized by pain and struggle to live a content, serene life while also battling Major Depressive Disorder and crippling anxiety, all while maintaining her sobriety over the years.
Growing up as an only child, she learned to be independent at a very early age, and while navigating life, there was a constant conflict of being an overachiever and feeling “less than.” Ginger graduated from college in the early 90s, got her Masters Degree, and worked as a teacher in her early 20s. She moved around a little (San Diego, Ocean City, Boca Raton, Philly, New Canaan, CT, and Pittsburgh) before actually getting her shit together in 2003.Marriage, having kids, and getting sober changed her career trajectory, and she began working in advertising selling tiny newspaper ads (yes it was that long ago that people were still reading newspapers). She became dedicated to the industry and worked her ass off climbing the corporate career ladder, eventually being recruited by one of the first Fortune 500 tech dot coms. Working in the true Don Draper Mad Men world, she had a very successful career as a well-respected senior software exec in the ad industry, specializing in helping large companies with their digital programmatic advertising, data analytics, and social branding strategies.
Just before her 50th birthday (and at the start of COVID), she switched gears into content creation and the adult industry and Mrs. Robinson was born (shout out to 1967’s The Graduate). The goal then (and still is) to continue to try to break the glass ceiling on what older women can and cannot do according to societal attempts to convince us that “younger is better” in the world of beauty, fashion, brains, and sex.
Sobriety and recovery help tremendously and have been the foundation of her life both professionally and personally.I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did.

Ashley has been sober for 4 1/2 years, and is a mama to two young children! Her background and degrees are in Psychology and Education. She has been a school teacher for the last decade, and a yoga & meditation teacher for the last eight.
This last 4 1/2 years sober have been the happiest, most humbling, & the most potent healing years for Ashley. Being sober has helped Ashley heal from trauma & unpack the causes & conditions of why she chose to numb with alcohol in the first place. When Ashley started doing the healing work in sobriety, she started to fall in love with sobriety! Her anxiety & mental health struggles dropped away, and joy, happiness, and peace entered her life!
Ashley's sobriety dramatically shifted when she had children. She no longer had tons of time to spend on healing work. She had to carve out intentional and consistent time for healing practices in sobriety. Being a new mama meant being over stimulated, sleep deprived, & getting easily dysregulated. She used her background to create small, consistent practices that help to heal in sobriety, regulate the nervous system, & navigate the highs and lows of life without reaching for alcohol to cope. Her passion is teaching other busy women to do the same!
