Former Michigan State All-American fullback Bob Apisa notched his second hall of fame honor.

Apisa was named one of five inductees to the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame's 2018 class. He was the lone inductee in the contributor category while the other four were in the player group. That followed his formal induction into the Michigan State Athletics Hall of Fame.

Bob talks with host Kamaka Brown about Polynesians in professional football and his story from American Samoa to his time on and off the field over the years.

On December 24th, 1953, comedian and pidgin advocate Andy Bumatai was born.  

Bumatai was born in Germany, spent much of his childhood in San Francisco, and didn’t come to Hawaii until he was 13, but he’s always been a local boy. After living in Kalihi for a year, Bumatai’s family moved to Waianae. He attended Waianae intermediate and high school, earning a name for himself as the class clown. He dropped out of high school in the 11th grade and started working odd jobs, from a dishwasher to a surfboard polisher. He became a successful salesman, and by his early 20s he saw that there were virtually no stand-up comics playing shows in local restaurants and clubs. He decided to fill that void, becoming one of Hawaii’s first stand-up comedians.

Each week a virtual gathering of Hawaiians and Hawaiians at heart drop in "On the Porch" to talk story, laugh, and share the aloha. It's conversation and stories ...and much more....all happening "On the Porch".

This group has been together through the pandemic and actually together longer than "most Hollywood marriages" according to "On the Porch" regular Aunty Bling Bling!

This is a silly, nonsensical, comedic romp of a show with absolutely no social redeeming qualities. It's a comic relief, local style with hosts Kamaka Brown and Andy Trask sharing the laffs on the "Nite Patrol".

What can we say about actor Clyde Kusatsu?

He has made guest appearances on both Hawaii Five-O (1968) and Hawaii Five-0 (2010).Has played a judge in 14 different productions, from a judge in L.A. Law (1986) in 1987 to Judge Matsumura in Boston Legal (2004) in 2006.

He has been in over 200 projects, including extensive cartoon voice-over work, and starred as "Admiral Nakamura" on Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987). Has played a medical doctor in at least 24 different movies and TV shows. Attended Iolani School in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA.

Duke Ching is a steel guitar playerʻs steel guitar player.  Heʻs well respected in the Hawaiian community and shares many stories about growing up in Hawaiʻi.

Any one who has a connection to the islands will know the name Andy Bumatai. For decades he has entertained audiences on both sides of the Pacific with his special brand of humor.

 He is an actor, television host, producer and Hawaiiʻs first stand up comic.  He agreed to drop in on the "Aloha Friday with...." video podcast to talk road stories, living in Hawaii and to share the aloha.
