Get Behind the Brand to learn how to build your brand. Get smarter and make more money in business by listening to my podcast with some of the smartest people on the planet. I’m Bryan Elliott, helping you build your brand.

Founded in 2008, Behind the Brand with Bryan Elliott is a show about innovators, entrepreneurs and the stories behind their success. It's like a backstage pass inside the brand strategy and marketing minds, companies and habits of some of the smartest and most interesting people on the planet. Host, Bryan Elliott decodes these stories to help you turn their wisdom into practical tactics that you can use to improve your life and grow your business. Why do this? I'm someone who loves to tell stories that I hope will inspire and educate others to find their reason for being. I basically invented the podcast I wish I had when I quit my corporate job and started my own business. I made a lot of mistakes and figured things out the hard way. I've been inspired by so many of my guests and I know you'll find a ton of value here as well. Podcast series / Marketing:

Be So Good They Can't Ignore You | Greg Hahn, Mischief Chief Creative Officer

Season 14 · Episode 169

mercredi 28 août 2024Duration 47:59

Greg Hahn is an advertising legend. From his bio:

"Greg is the Co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of Mischief @ No Fixed Address. Greg is going to go rogue and move this missive to first person. I started Mischief because I wanted to create a place where people- both employees and clients- could come and do the best work of their lives, with less layers, pretense and other unnecessary complications.

In 2022, less than two years into its existence, Mischief was named Agency of the Year by Adage Magazine, Agency of the Year by Campaign US and the second most innovative agency by Fast Company. Recently Mischief was named 2023’s Agency of the Year by Adweek, Agency of the Year for a second time by Adage in 2024, Creative Agency of the Year by Adage and one one of the 20 most creative companies by GQ.

Previous to Mischief, Greg was the CCO of BBDO NY. During that time BBDO was recognized as the most awarded agency in the world by the Gunn Report. It was also named Agency of the Year at The One Show, ADC and The Webbys multiple times."

This episode is brought to you by our friends at Burst Creatine gummies. There are a bunch of creatine choices out there but they’re not all safe and 3rd party tested.

I chose Burst Creatine gummies because as a busy producer working on this show — as well as TV commercials and original content for my clients, creatine power is messy and hard to travel with. Leave dry scooping to the meatheads, it messes up your gut health anyway…

Burst creatine gummies aren’t made in some factory in China where your creatine is getting mixed with who knows how many other powders or medications they have being made there.

Burst is made locally in the United States and has exactly 1.5 grams of creatine per gummy. I take 3 on my way out the door to the gym to get improved brain function, build muscle and speed up my recovery.

They taste pretty good too. And since I can’t have a lot of sugar or chemical dyes, they are made with natural ingredients that fit my protocol so that I can perform at my highest level. Want to try them out?  Just go to burstcreatine.com and order your first bag and get in the game.

Feel Stronger. Live Longer. Take Control of Your Health | InsideTracker

Season 14 · Episode 168

lundi 12 août 2024Duration 51:16

It’s been about 7 years but feels like yesterday when I think about the time I was really struggling with health.

All of a sudden I was getting serious headaches and didn’t know why…

My friend Robb Wolf who wrote the book Wired to Eat turned me on to InsideTracker but to be honest I didn’t follow thru and spent the next 4 years trying to figure things out on my own by seeing over a dozen doctors and specialists.

I probably wasted at least $20,000 in time and medical expenses with nothing to show for it. Earlier this year another friend suggested InsideTracker again and I signed up.

It was so easy. A specialist came to my house to took my blood for a blood panel test that measured almost 50 health markers. About a week later I had a full report across all of the important categories:

*Fitness measured things like

  • Testosterone
  • Cortisol
  • ApoB
  • Cholesterol
  • Triglycerides

*Metabolism

  • Glucose
  • ALT /liver enzyme
  • Insulin

InsideTracker is designed to give you personal access to what’s happening under the hood of your body. Then you can take action on your own or with a nutritionist, doctor, fitness trainer etc. to reach your own personal health goals.

How much would you pay to have a roadmap to feeling your best?
I promise InsideTracker costs a lot less and I guarantee it has been one of the best investments I've made for myself. With annual fees starting at $150 this is a no-brainer. For more info go to InsideTracker.com and give it a try.

Steal this Luxury Brand Playbook! | Mercedes-Benz USA CMO, Melody Lee

Season 14 · Episode 159

lundi 17 juin 2024Duration 50:08

When I think of the luxury category, Mercedes-Benz is absolutely in that group of brands. In fact, after driving my Honda Civic for more than 250,000 miles I bought my first Mercedes in 2013 and I've been driving my C 250 with pride for more than a decade.

Melody Lee and I met in 2015 when I had her former boss, the former head of BMW Uwe Ellinghaus on the podcast, who was recently tapped as the CMO at Cadillac. We've come full circle! I hope you enjoy--and steal a few pages from Melody's playbook!

Lessons of Courage in Life & Business from a Paralympic Medalist | Amy Purdy

Season 6 · Episode 72

jeudi 1 avril 2021Duration 51:20

Amy Purdy has lived an incredible life. She grew up with the love of Nature, health wellness and travel. She was also a passionate snowboarder. At 19, her life took a detour.  After experiencing flu-like symptoms, Amy was rushed to the hospital in a state of septic shock. When she entered into the hospital she was given less than a 2% chance of survival, put on life support and placed into a coma.

After multiple blood transfusions, and the removal of her ruptured spleen, doctors diagnosed Amy with Meningococcal Meningitis, a vaccine preventable bacterial infection. Due to the lack of circulation she had suffered, doctors had to amputate her legs below the knee. She later received a donated kidney from her father a week before her 21st birthday.

After going through this life-altering experience, Amy challenged herself to move on with her life and attain goals that even those who have both legs struggle to achieve. She is one of the top ranked adaptive snowboarders in the world, the 2014 Sochi Paralympic bronze medalist and is currently the only double-leg amputee competing in snowboarding at the world-class level.

Amy’s creativity, positive outlook and her never-give-up attitude have opened doors to many other opportunities, including being featured in a Madonna music video, a lead actress role in an award-winning independent film and multiple creative modeling projects including a photo shoot with musician and artist Nikki Sixx where her legs were custom made from steel to look like ice picks.

Amy has evolved into a powerful inspirational and motivational speaker who has been seen by millions of people and invited to share her story to audiences around the world. Amy’s TED x Orange Coast talk, “Living Beyond Limits” is the number one recommended video by TED x OC to incoming TED speakers formulating their own presentations.

Amy’s story and images have been featured in numerous national and international publications, and in 2012 she and her longtime boyfriend, Daniel Gale, raced around the world on CBS’s The Amazing Race.

In May of 2013, Amy was named by the International Olympic Committee as one of the top 15 most marketable para-athletes in the world.

Although Amy has numerous accomplishments, she is most proud of co-founding Adaptive Action Sports with her husband Daniel Gale. Created in 2005, AAS is a non-profit organization that helps those with permanent disabilities get involved in action sports. AAS has partnered with ESPN and runs “adaptive” action sport competitions at the summer and winter ESPN X Games. These events were instrumental in getting adaptive snowboarding added to the 2014 Paralympic Games.

In the spring of 2014, Amy inspired millions of fans with her stunning performances on ABC’s Dancing With The Stars, eventually becoming the show’s runner-up.

Amy has launched a line of clothing partnership with Element Eden The Amy Purdy Collection” and recently completed her first book New York Times Best Seller “On My Own Two Feet

Amy also recently shared her remarkable story alongside Oprah Winfrey, as part of Oprah’s The Life You Want Tour.  Where she toured with Oprah sharing the stage through cities across America.

Amy was also featured in a Superbowl Commercial for her partner Toyota which aired just after kickoff. The commercial fettered Amy Running, Dancing, Snowboarding, modeling and speaking all to the voice of the great Mohammad Ali and his ” How Great I am” speech.
