100 Days Of Hygge

Season 1 · Episode 102

mardi 10 décembre 2024Duration 16:16

Today things go a step further from the last episode on how Hygge can help you achieve more contentment. Feeling inspired after recording that episode, I have embarked on a 100 day challenge for myself where each day I bring in different principles of Hygge.

As a recap here are the ten principles:

  • Atmosphere
  • Presence
  • Pleasure
  • Equality
  • Gratitude
  • Harmony
  • Comfort
  • Truce
  • Togetherness
  • Shelter

I referenced a favorite book of mine, The Little Book Of Hygge and encourage you to read it!

It's been an interesting two days and already I can feel that this way of living goes beyond cozy socks and tea. Join me this winter for this fun and beautiful experiment!

Keep it sacred,

Meg

Callie Cavanaugh: The Benefits of Dining In

Season 3 · Episode 90

jeudi 16 février 2023Duration 01:05:28

This is a very special episode for me because I had the pleasure of interviewing my cousin Callie! We reconnected on Instagram as I’m absolutely fascinated with her “Eat In Method” as well as her book, Dining In By Design.

Callie is changing the way people think about cooking at home by working with individuals one on one as well as facilitating corporate group programs.

Make sure you watch until the end because she shares a very personal story. Something a lot of people don’t want to think about let alone talk about…but it is more prevalent than you can imagine.

Callie's Bio:

Callie Cavanaugh is a trained chef, interaction designer, author, and speaker. She is the founder of the private chef platform NonnaEats, where she brings people together with food through intimate dining experiences.   Callie’s pursuit of food started at the age of five, when she put on cooking shows for her friends and family. Her pursuit was turned on its head when she encountered health issues until she brought her sense of design to discover The Eat In Method, a whole new approach to food.   She lives in Boulder, CO where she spends time exploring the great outdoors with friends.   Connect with Callie here: Get Callie's free gift, "Free Eat In Method Class" here.

I loved my conversation with the lovely Claire Comai! Her energy and passion makes her an inspiration to all generations. Be sure to check out the free gift she has for all of us at the link below... it's jewelry!   Claire's Bio: Claire's brand and designs are inspired by her own struggles with alcohol and drug addiction, which dominated her life until the age of 24. Now three years sober, she's channeled the energy and restlessness she felt during early sobriety into building Rehab Barbie. Claire's designs also pay homage to her incredible tribe–friends and family without whom she never could be where she is today.   She founded and launched Rehab Barbie this past year and the company features streetwear, jewelry, and accessories, inspired by her personal struggle with drug addiction and mental illness. The brand aims to change the conversation around these topics by celebrating recovery instead of stigmatizing disease.   Connect with Claire here:   Personal IG Rehab Barbie IG Rehabbarbie.com   Get Claire's free gift, a Happy Hour Bracelet here.

How Meg Geisewite Broke Up With Gray Area Drinking

Season 3 · Episode 87

jeudi 26 janvier 2023Duration 01:01:39

Do you know what it's like when you meet someone and it's crazy how much you have in common?   That is exactly how it felt when Meg and I connected last year.   Everyone, I have to say her book is incredible! It feels as though you are sitting right there with her having a cup of tea.   So excited to share our discussion with you!   Meg's Bio:

Meg is an ordinary mom who found herself trapped in the mommy wine culture. She began her sober curious journey in November of 2019 where her love of science led her to discover the real truth about alcohol and its seductive lies.

As a truth-teller, Meg is changing the narrative on the mommy wine culture, the hustle culture, and our pro-drinking culture. In Meg’s debut book, Intoxicating Lies: One Woman's Journey to Freedom from Gray Area Drinking, Meg flips the script on the five most intoxicating lies we tell ourselves about alcohol.

Meg resides in Delaware with her husband and two teenage children. Her family has been her rock throughout her alcohol-free journey. You can often find Meg enjoying nature on the beautiful hiking and biking trails of Delaware.

Tenderly Moving Through Loss

Season 3 · Episode 86

mercredi 30 novembre 2022Duration 21:58

In today’s episode, I share the pain I’ve been experiencing with the loss of a dear loved one… and the coping mechanisms I chose on the journey.

Have you been experiencing any kind of loss lately? If so, how do you deal with it?

Perhaps it’s through spiritual bypassing, overeating, diving into the drama, staying busy, or indulging in too much alcohol.

I hope this episode inspires you to have the courage to meet and greet the pain and tenderly heal it with love and grace.

Author Rebecca Lipkin: Creating An Elegantly AF Life

Season 3 · Episode 85

jeudi 27 octobre 2022Duration 53:06

How can I even express the excitement that was bubbling in my heart and mind before interviewing Rebecca? Not once… But twice! You’ll have to listen for the total snafu that happened on my end the first time we recorded. Definitely a lesson of self-forgiveness on my part.

This episode is one of my favorites because it didn’t feel like an interview but felt like a zoom call with a really fun and fabulous girlfriend!

Once you listen to the episode, you will see why I find Rebecca so inspiring. I was introduced to her on Instagram and simply fell in love with the chic way she lives, works, dresses, travels, etc… and especially how she makes alcohol-free living look so beautiful.

Highlights of today’s episode

1. Getting inspired by experimenting with delightful mocktails.

2. The magical way life looks and feels when going alcohol-free.

3. Why living AF allows you to taste the food, dream the dreams and wake up feeling fabulous.

Rebecca's Bio:

Rebecca is the author of Unto This Last - the first biographical novel dedicated to the Victorian art critic, social commentator and philanthropist, John Ruskin.

Having developed a passion for Victorian art and literature from a young age, Rebecca first discovered John Ruskin through E.M. Forster’s novel, A Room with a View, and later joined the Ruskin Society at the age of seventeen to learn more about Ruskin’s work. Rebecca says, “Most accounts of John Ruskin’s complex personal life focus on his brief marriage to Effie Gray, but his seventeen-year relationship with his young Irish student Rose La Touche was of much greater importance; theirs is captivating and tragic story of two people whose loving friendship transcended boundaries and conventions to the very end.”

London, 1858. Passionate, contradictory, and fiercely loyal to his friends, John Ruskin is an eccentric genius, famed across Britain for his writings on art and philosophy. Haunted by a scandalous past and determined never to love again, the 39-year-old Ruskin shuns polite society in favour of a quiet existence at Denmark Hill, the home he shares with his domineering parents. Reluctantly accepting a request by an Irish aristocrat to tutor her daughters in art, Ruskin becomes infatuated with his enigmatic student, Rose La Touche, an obsession with profound consequences that will change the course of his life and work.

Written in a style recalling Victorian literature and spanning a period of almost 20 years, the story poses questions about the nature of love, the boundaries of parenthood and compatibility in marriage. Unto This Last is a man behind the genius portrait of Ruskin’s tormented psyche and reveals a complex and misunderstood soul, longing for a life just out of reach.
