It's a helluva week at RushRash HQ, with one of the worst cases we've ever taken in - Ffej Herb, drummer of the legendary Solar Federation. Not only is he and his band known to be note-for-note recreationists, but fuck if we don't spin one of the only tunes in the entire catalog wit no effin drums! No shit - we spin the Toilkin inspired Rivendell off Fly By Night and just proceed to shit ourselves in a very decisive vote at the end...but that's not what it's ALL about is it?!
Of course not, cuddlecakes. We learn everything about Ffej's journey to creating one of the Northeast's premiere Rush full-on-Kevin's-mom musical and audio-visual celebrations. This guy has seen Rush twenty-fukin-seven times, can play nearly half the entire catalog (just hasn't gotten to the rest yet!!) and knows whuts-whut with good music, from Rush and beyond. Ffej is a good sport as we slog through one of Rush's most...interesting in a Hobbit kinda way...tracks. Her Rush Rash stretches back deep in her creative genesis, and she shares some pretty deep shit with us. The Containment Unit couldn't contain her talent or inspiration and dedication to all things Rush. She is a true force of nature and maybe the coolest kid to show up to your AV Club. We dive deep on her academic achievements, her new album New World Woman - an acoustic collection of songs penned by the world's greatest drummer - but there isn't a drum beat on it! Her musical roots, her road mates, tales of inspiration, dedication, study, and a voice of pure, haunting starlight. Join us as Leoni takes control of the Solar Federation for a spin of the cosmic wheel. You will not fucking believe that we ended up with 2112, particularly given where we start...

Chaz N Schatz find themselves with another severe case of Rush Rash - this one seemingly as bad if not worse than anything we've seen so far. Drummer and Singer Matt Grou of Quebec's New World Men! The Containment Unit might have still been a little on the rank side after Steve Brown from Moving Pictures UK's last treatment, but Matt put up with the Vegi-Haggis and Poopourri afterglow like the tough French-Canadian he is!
Matt is 1/3 of a powerhouse Rush full-frontal, multi-media experience. Full Monty ain't got nothin' on the big swinging these guys bring off every show. Light, cameras, big production and red jumpsuits - these guys are beyond legit in their ability to pull off every era of Rush with masterful precision. Schatz needed to change his shorts twice during the recording, and he refused to use those unnamed male sanitary products, so it made us all Evan a little more uncomfortable...but again, Matt was a trooper.
After a truly fascinating discussion of what it takes to play with Peart-ian precision and sing all of Geddy's parts, the wheel doses us with Chemistry from 1982's Signals!

Chaz N Schatz walk into a hairy shite-show of a ruckus and call an all-hands-on deck EmergeAFeknC on this panicked and crazy episode of Rush Rash!! In a case of the absolute worst Rush Rash we've documented to date - Rush fan since he was a wee-laddie of the highlands, our special guest this week is none other than Steve Brown of Moving Pictures Scotland, RushFest Scotland, Tena Men's Ambassador and all around dude-bomber on the six-string. A Rush Rasher since the age of 8, he's got a guitar collection to rival Alex's and he's humble enough to admit he improvises when Al does too...and believe it or not can make grown, kilt-wearin', whisky (NO 'E') drinkin' men cry and bring warrin' clans back together - all in a fekn' sing along to raise your spirit and prove beyond a shadow the ability of Rush music to unite people across the entire astral plane...or at least over a pint or two!!
Steve is all things Rush in Scotland and dare-say the UK and his story will keep you handlin' your haggis the entire time!!
We let Steve do the name dropping this episode as we sit back in amazement that the veg-haggis controversy isn't a bigger issue than it is...so you have that revelation and other heresy and blasphemy to have the short hairs up under yer kilt needing a stiff breeze to get dry if you know what we're sayin'...which would be great - since we don't!! We end up spinning Emotion Detector off 1985's Power Windows, a song Chaz' had been itching to hear for several episodes...is someone messing with us?!?!
