The Role of the Subconscious in Using Your Voice

samedi 21 septembre 2024Duration 21:10

Understanding the Subconscious and Your Voice

In this episode, we dive into how the subconscious plays a crucial role in shaping the way we use our voice. It’s a deeply personal journey that can often be misunderstood, and today, we explore some hard truths behind why people may think they've "got it," only to realize there's much more work to be done.

Key Topics:

  • The Subconscious at Play: How the subconscious tries to protect you by keeping you playing small, even in situations where you think you've made progress.
  • Voice and Vulnerability: Your voice is a representation of your identity, and because of past experiences, your subconscious tries to guard you from being truly heard.
  • Overcoming the Voice Masks: The barriers and “masks” we use in communication are often subconscious efforts to hide vulnerability. Learn why these barriers must be removed to reveal your authentic self.
  • The Illusion of Progress: The dangerous belief that attending one free training or learning a few techniques means you've "mastered" voice work. Why ongoing practice and deep work are essential for real transformation.
  • Real-World Examples: Stories from past clients and their journeys, from initial struggles to breakthroughs, emphasizing the importance of consistent work and deep subconscious rewiring.
  • Practical Steps for Improvement: How to connect to tactics that override subconscious blocks and allow you to express your true voice in any situation.

Key Takeaway: Your subconscious might be tricking you into believing you're making more progress than you really are, especially when it comes to voice work. To truly be heard, you must confront the protective mechanisms your subconscious has built around your voice and push past the illusions of progress.

Next Steps:

  • If you’ve felt stuck or plateaued in your voice work, it's time to dig deeper. Overcoming the subconscious barriers will help you unlock the power of your authentic voice.
  • Connect with Tracy for more in-depth training and coaching on how to break free from these subconscious tricks and step into your full potential as a communicator.

Being Professional with Katie P

mardi 4 avril 2023Duration 43:54

Welcome to the show.

I think you will find today's transformation quite interesting.

The initial sounds that I heard from Katie were repellent, but I knew there was more under those sounds in a very short conversation with her.

About mid-episode she shares a story with me that makes it crystal clear the voice story that did the damage I hope to unravel.

Today’s episode is what Psychology of the Voice was built on.

One phrase causes our subconscious to react and go into protection mode.  Just like that a story and even worse, a voice habit that misrepresents is put in place.

The top layers I hear in Katie’s voice represent what she was told she had to be in order to be successful. She’s used her voice that for a long time to “be” that.

What I'm doing today in this episode is shockingly common in my day-to-day work tune.

Tune in to hear Katie's transformation going from sounds of protection and barriers and blocks to the best reveal of who she really is.

Feelings instead of Facts with Jennifer

Season 1 · Episode 10

mardi 21 février 2023Duration 50:56

Welcome to the show!

Today, I’m working with Jennifer who is an analytical thinker. This the greatest challenge for her.  Being in her head is creating a sound that is being processed as tentative, unsure lack of knowledge. Those sounds are significantly misrepresenting who she really is.

Jennifer is clearly very smart and knowledgeable, an expert at her craft.  Jennifer is trying to get it right but there is something more at play here than just needing, wanting to get the words right and it’s blocking the reveal of her real voice, her most authentic self.

The subconscious has a protection mechanism at play her and behind that protection lies next level degrees of connection and fullest expression. There is room to transform in these areas. My goal with Jennifer is to increase connection, confidence, but most of all to have her reveal who she really is and trust herself so that she does not have to be in her head.

Tune in and find out what is at play for Jennifer and hear her transformation.

Unleashing Authenticity with Keatyn

Season 1 · Episode 9

mardi 21 février 2023Duration 57:32

Welcome to the show!

Today I’ll be doing class Psychology of the Voice work with a delightful woman name Keatyn.  The struggle for her is in revealing her real voice, truly unleashing all the shades of who she is and showing up authentically and stepping into her true voice power.

I have stories that need to be unearthed, masks to be unmasked and only then can I unleash the power of her real, authentic voice.  Keatyn knows she has not unleashed her voice, and that is what she wants most of all, is to play bigger and she should.  There is room for increased confidence, connection and more shades of who she really is.

With Keaton, some of the classic things I hear in her voice are wanting to keep the peace, trying to get the words right, and even knowing that she won't be heard.

Keatyn has created voice habits around playing safe and for good reason.

My goal with her is to set her voice free, partially because she is delightful and not playing all the shades that reveal her true authenticity.

I want her listeners to experience, but even more so, the internal freedom she will get once her voice is unleashed.

Tune in to see this transformation unfold.

Psychology of the Voice

Season 1 · Episode 1

mardi 14 février 2023Duration 27:53

Episode One

Welcome to episode one of the Psychology of the Voice® Podcast.

Let's start at the beginning and talk about Psychology of the Voice®.  I'll assure you; you've never thought about voice the way you're going to experience it in this podcast. Psychology of the Voice® is a concept that I have researched and created over the last 30 years, centered around our subconscious and its role in creating our own voice and how our voice is processed in the subconscious of our listen.

In this episode, I'm going to break down the concept for you in relation to what this show is about and what you can expect in the podcast. In the show, I’m  assessing strangers voices. One of the things you’ll learn and benefit from is my ability to tell people how they're being processed in the subconscious of the listener.

In the show, I tell my guests how certain sounds are misrepresenting them in the subconscious of the listener and I reveal what sounds they are not revealing that actually represent authenticity. Both of these are critical to the next level of success whatever that is from confidence to increased retention and revenue.

Many entrepreneurs call me their secret weapon. The reason is because I can hear the sounds the way I do and quickly shift the sounds that are not working for them.

If you are a high achiever, want to take your business to the next level, if you want to increase your revenue, retention, connection, confidence, and be the standout authority, then you don't want to miss this episode, this concept, this show.

Let's dive in and find out what is in your Psychology of the Voice® and see how many of the transformations that take place in this podcast you can relate to with your own voice.  This is way bigger than public speaking and presentation skills, it’s bigger than and crucial to effective communication…your voice holds your identity.

Let's go to the show and maximize who you really are!

The Voice of Authentic Sales: Breaking Old Paradigms

jeudi 12 septembre 2024Duration 26:42

In this episode, we dive deep into the intersection of voice and sales, uncovering how outdated sales tactics are costing businesses, while connection and authenticity are leading the charge for success.

Key Discussion Points:

  1. Sales Tactics Gone Wrong
    • Tracy shares insights from a recent conversation with a student about sales tactics that focus too much on controlling the outcome.
    • The brain's natural response to hard-sell tactics is to "find an out," leaving the buyer focusing on how to exit the conversation instead of being open to the offer.
  2. The Importance of Voice and Connection
    • Authenticity in sales isn't just about what you say; it's about how you say it. Tracy shares research on how the brain processes certain sales questions and explains how buyer trust has shifted in recent years.
    • Voice is more than just a tool for communication—it's the key to creating connection and trust.
  3. Bad Sales Information & Buyer Burnout
    • The problem of buyer trust is discussed, with real-life examples of failed sales strategies, broken promises, and misuse of trademarked material.
  4. Why Authenticity is the New Currency
    • Drawing from her data and personal experience, Tracy talks about how buyers are increasingly leaning into authenticity and connection.
    • She highlights how high-pressure questions, gimmicks, and surface-level sales tactics no longer work in today's marketplace.
  5. How to Avoid the ‘Salesy’ Trap
    • Tracy shares a charming story about a client worried about being too “salesy” and how reframing her approach to be more genuine and confident shifted her success rate dramatically.
    • Salesy techniques often push people away, while a focus on transparency and realness can create a stronger bond with potential buyers.
  6. The Future of Sales in a Post-2020 World
    • Tracy dives into the shifts happening post-2020, discussing how the COVID-19 pandemic changed the marketplace and the increased focus on online learning and selling.
    • The role of AI in amplifying the need for connection and authenticity is also explored.
  7. The Power of Sound in Sales
    • One of the most fascinating points Tracy highlights is how people are retrospectively identifying that they knew they shouldn't have made certain purchases.
    • This underscores the idea that people are seeking sounds that align with the experience they want, and that making real connections through voice is crucial for long-term success.
  8. What’s Next: Preparing for 2025
    • As we move toward 2025, sales strategies need to evolve.
    • Tracy emphasizes that what worked in sales before will no longer be effective, and now is the time to adapt.

Takeaways: Sales in today’s market isn't about manipulating outcomes or following rigid templates. It’s about using your voice to create authentic, genuine connections with your potential buyers. If you’re not paying attention to the sounds and signals you’re giving off, you may be losing sales without even realizing it. The world has changed, and so has sales—it’s time to evolve.

Misrepresentation with Ashley

dimanche 18 août 2024Duration 50:18

Ashley was a joy to assess. This is another classic case of sounds misrepresenting sounds that are not only covering up the best and most critical sounds for her success but also could be costly for her. In fact, in this transformation, I think you're going to hear shades and shadows of other episodes where I talk about my concerns about how the subconscious of the buyer is processing her sound.

Ashley and I had a great conversation about this.

Ashley is no nonsense and brilliant. What I want to see happen in this transformation is for her to lead with her vocal superpower. Ultimately, I want to hear the softness, the invitation, the deep care.  I want a reveal of more of the shades of feeling and for her to truly let down the barrier that allows for connection on a deeper level. What she wants to reveal isn't quite sinking up with what is being revealed, and that is what I'm going to work on today.

Tune in for this amazing transformation with Ashley.

Putting the Wrong Thing in Place with Lauren

dimanche 18 août 2024Duration 39:46

Welcome to the show.

It was clear from the first few minutes I heard Lauren that she was really smart and likeable but dealing with classic peacekeeper people, pleaser mask manifestations.

Getting rid of some of the people pleasing sounds will be the key part of any transformation I do with her.

In today's episode, you're going to learn something fascinating about how she wants to come across the effort that she's making to create that sound and my interpretation of how that is going sideways.

Lauren is putting something in place to get a result and the very thing she is putting in place will actually cost her from getting the result because the sounds are not what she perceives them to be.

The people pleaser mask has many pieces to it. Lauren has several them that she executes in her voice, and while she knows she is a people pleaser, she did not realize how many sounds are being manifested from that voice mask.

Tune in for this interesting and powerful transformation.
