Regretting Parenthood: Cultural Decay or Honest Reflection?

mercredi 4 septembre 2024Duration 28:26

Ep.19: There's a new trend making headlines that's reached jaw-dropping heights: parents openly expressing regrets about having children, with their stories splashed across the media. Therapists are joining in, often distorting psychological principles to validate these feelings. In this post, we examine the rise of this narrative, its impact on societal norms, and what it reveals about our changing views on family, responsibility, and personal fulfillment.

Femme Fail: Navigating the Feminist Superpower - Am I A Femcel?

mercredi 21 août 2024Duration 31:11

Ep. 18. In this episode of "Femme Fail," we team up with Norwegian journalist and political commentator Rebecca Mistereggen to explore the dating challenges in feminist Norway. Rebecca bravely shares her personal experiences as a 36-year-old newly single woman, navigating the modern dating market, and we discuss whether she might be a "femcel," based on a poll she conducted with her 30,000 Twitter X followers.

We also dive into why some women find themselves single later in life —where Rebecca and I have differing views. Additionally, we investigate Kvinneguiden, Norway's largest women's forum, to see if Norwegian women are truly as satisfied as they're believed to be.

WPATH exposed: Mia Hughes on Transgender Healthcare and Psychiatric History

mardi 16 avril 2024Duration 01:37:07

Recently, hundreds of messages from an internal forum inside the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) was leaked to the think tank “Environmental Progress”. I sit down with the author of this report, journalist Mia Hughes. She exposes its political and ideological agenda, shedding light on its influence in shaping transgender healthcare standards. Hughes delves into the social contagion aspect of the transgender issue and its parallels with psychiatric epidemics throughout history.

This is the most important issue of our time, since the affected individuals are mostly teenagers and young poeple and the damage inflicted devestating and life-long.

#8 Science Schmience with Dr. Sc. Eyal Spier

mardi 2 avril 2024Duration 31:49

Get ready for the most entertaining episode of “Psychobabble” yet! Ever found yourself annoyed at someone proclaiming “it’s science!” about a radical idea? Then join us for this fast-paced half hour of science skepticism and myth-busting with Dr. Sc. Eyal Spier in our special science edition "Science Schmience"!

My husband and I delve into the fascinating realm of scientific misconceptions and quackery. With his PhD from ETH in Zürich in chemical engineering and biotechnology, as well as his unparalelled memory and ability to tell stories, he addressed the common mistakes people make when discussing science and statistics.

What makes this episode truly special is the dynamic and light-hearted conversation between Eyal and myself. As one of my favorite pastimes is triggering Eyal with popular misconceptions and quacks I come across on TikTok, we've incorporated this by finding the most liked videos, this time on antioxidants and homeopathy, and having him react to them. We use that opportunity to debunk the myths surrounding those topics.

Princess Propaganda with Faith Moore

mardi 5 mars 2024Duration 01:01:48

Join us for a discussion on a topic that's at the heart of modern parenthood: the evolving portrayal of princesses in children's media. I sat down with Faith Moore, a stay-at-home mom, author and editor, with a keen eye for dissecting the messages our children absorb through fairy tales.

We kick things off by revisiting the enchanting world of princesses through the lens of "Frozen" and its (not so) subtle subversion of traditional fairy tale tropes. Faith's insights shed light on how modern interpretations of these timeless stories are shaping our children's perceptions.

We then explore the legacy of Disney princesses, from the classic tales like "Snow White" and "Cinderella" to the contemporary reimaginings in "The Little Mermaid" and "Beauty and the Beast." Faith unpacks the symbolism embedded in these stories, their importance and the cultural shift that's led to a reassessment of these beloved characters.

Ultimately, this conversation is about more than just princesses—it's about the stories we tell our children and the values they instill. So join us as we navigate the complex world of fairy tales and uncover the deeper truths hidden beneath the glittering surface.

Lastly, Faith gives us a peek into her book “A Christmas Karol”. From there we explore societal pressures and misconceptions surrounding stay-at-home moms.

Daycare Debunked with Erica Komisar

mardi 9 janvier 2024Duration 42:04

In this episode, we challenge the conventional wisdom surrounding the development of children and explore the impact of daycare on their early years.

Renowned clinical psychoanalyst and social worker, Erica Komisar, joins us from New York City to share her expertise. Author of "Being There: Why Prioritizing Motherhood in the First Three Years Matters" and "Chicken Little The Sky Isn’t Falling: Raising Resilient Adolescents in the New Age of Anxiety," Komisar sheds light on the importance of maternal presence and its role in neurological development during the formative years.

As we discuss the societal pressure on mothers to enroll their children in daycare for socialization, we confront the common belief that mothers alone may not be sufficient for a child's optimal development. Komisar addresses this dilemma, drawing on her extensive research and experiences, and explores the impact of daycare on children compared to playdates with other moms. Additionally, the episode touches on the alarming rise in personality disorders, particularly in young women, and ADHD.

Tune in to season 2 of "What Should I Tell my Daughter?" revamped as "Psychobabble" for an eye-opening discussion that challenges preconceptions and explores the intricate factors contributing to the mental health crisis in the Western world.
