On The Porch with Front Porch Music is a Canadian country music podcast built around real conversations and genuine connection.

Every two weeks, hosts Logan Miller and Jenna Weishar sit down with the artists shaping Canadian country music — from the biggest names in the genre, to rising stars, to the ones you might not have heard of yet (but will soon). It’s less about rapid-fire questions and more about pulling up a chair, slowing down, and talking about the stories behind the songs.

The Front Porch has always been a gathering place in country music, and that’s exactly what this podcast is: the digital front porch for the Canadian country music community.

Proudly CCMA-nominated and Canadian Podcast Award–nominated, On The Porch celebrates the people, moments, and music that make the Canadian country scene so special.

[NEW SHOW] mastered. The Business Of Music Episode 1

Season 4 · Episode 21

mardi 21 octobre 2025Duration 25:13

Send us Fan Mail

Hey everyone! This week, we’re doing something a little different — instead of our regular On The Porch episode, we’re bringing you the first full episode of our new limited series, Mastered: The Business of Music.

Mastered pulls back the curtain on the music industry, talking with major players about marketing, touring, sync licensing, being a DIY artist, and so much more — all the real-world advice artists and industry professionals need.

We’re excited to share this full episode with you today, and don’t worry — we’ll be back with our regular On The Porch format next week. You can also head over to the Mastered feed to catch the rest of the series.

Joelle May’s career has spanned across public relations, label management, events, and more. One area she’s worked in for over a decade is sync and licensing.

And I know what you’re thinking - wtf is sync and licensing? This is exactly why we thought it’d be great to sit down with Joelle and really unpack that.

Joelle has placed music across television, video games, and commercials in North America and Europe.

In this episode, we get to the bottom of what sync and licensing is, how to get your music placed (spoiler: it’s not easy, especially on your own), and a little bit about the legalities and how royalties work.

“From City Kids To Steroes to Delta Sweet” with Pat Kordyback

Season 4 · Episode 12

mardi 17 juin 2025Duration 01:02:18

Send us Fan Mail

Pat Kordyback discovered his voice after losing interest in hockey and skateboarding. Learning to sing in his teens, Pat was inspired by the sounds of motown, which would foreshadow a little ‘doo wop’ in his future.

Getting together with Miles Holmwood, Robert Chalifoux, Daniel Johnson, and Aaron Verdonk, Pat would spend his early 20’s as the frontman for Canadian pop punk rock band Stereos. The band blew up after being featured on Much Music’s “disBAND”, and winning over Gene Simmons.

Stereos would teach Pat a lot about life in a band, being a rockstar (and unlearning the rockstar attitude), and hard work rehearsing five day a week paying off. Hits like “Summer Girl”, “Throw Ya Hands Up” and “Butterflies” would send the band up the charts.

After his punk rock days would come to a close, Pat decided to lean into his Alberta side, and begin writing and recording country music.

We talked with Pat about his career highs, lows, and more. We talked about the Stereos whirlwind, lessons learned from that exact whirlwind, and how his country music career aims to spark something new.

We also talked about the Oilers….and his lifelong dedication to his hometown NHL team.

His current single “Drive 85” is out now, which follows previous singles, “Outta Money, Outta Mind”, “Pour A Little My Way” and “Whiskey Like You”.

“From The Badlands To Purple Gas And Zach Bryan” with Noeline Hofmann

Season 4 · Episode 11

mardi 3 juin 2025Duration 50:05

Send us Fan Mail

Noeline Hofmann burst onto the scene in 2024 with the duet release of her single “Purple Gas”, after it caught the attention of Zach Bryan.

At just 21 years old, Noeline knows the vitality of building community as a young artist. After playing her local Alberta circuit for a few years, managing jobs at the grocery store and on a ranch, and attending school, Noeline set her sights on a career in music.

In just one year, Noeline has toured with Charlie Crockett, Wyatt Flores, Zach Bryan, Turnpike Troubadours and more. She made her Stagecoach debut this year, and just had a full circle moment at Railbird Festival (find out why in the episode).

We talked to Noeline about the whirlwind she’s been on over the last two years, from packing up her car and heading for Kentucky and Tennessee, to a duet with Zach Bryan, her current busy schedule on the road, and more.

She also taught us how she manages to keep her schedule straight; a few weeks at a time.

Noeline is also Sirius XM Top of the Country finalist and we can’t wait to catch her at the finale in Kelowna this September.

Antonio Larosa hails from British Columbia, inspired by the classics he discovered both on his own, and through his mom who always had music going in the house.

Initially a musical theatre major, Antonio spent six months in New York before deciding that wasn’t his path. He ended up studying Jazz.

During our chat, we talked about how he became the “family jukebox”, has been a gigging musician for a number of years, and dove into his catalog; as far back as his first album, even though he asked us not to!

Antonio recently released his single “Tried and True”, which follows “Close To You”, both from his upcoming project.

Antonio is a BCCMA winner for Roots Artist Of The Year, has just recently toured with Kyle McKearney, and will be opening for Parker Graye on her Vancouver date of the Halfway To a Tour Tour.

Riley Taylor first joined us On the Porch in 2022; he was the latest Boots and Hearts Showcase winner, he was on the precipice of releasing his first single, and he didn’t have a website.

We kicked off the latest episode with how far Riley has come since then. He was coming to us live from a hotel room, as he toured across Ontario with Kip Moore.

His debut album Story To Tell is out everywhere now.

If you’re listening to Riley for the first time, he recommends “Fucked Up”, “Hometowns” and “Off The Liquor”.

Go Hockey! with Nashville Based Country Artist Melissa Livingstone

Season 4 · Episode 7

mardi 8 avril 2025Duration 48:51

Send us Fan Mail

On this week’s episode of On The Porch, we’re hanging out with Canadian country artist Melissa Livingstone, and let’s just say—this conversation is as fun as it is heartwarming.

Melissa joins us from Nashville, but her roots run deep in the small town of Ucluelet, BC (which she kindly teaches us how to pronounce). Geography isn’t exactly our strong suit, but we get there... eventually.

We chat about her journey from coastal Canada to the heart of country music, her early influences—including her mom teaching her to play piano—and the moment she knew music was the path she had to follow.

RELATED: Melissa is one of our artists to watch for this year. See the rest of the list ...

Melissa shares her hard-earned wisdom from playing in the bars on Broadway, and gives honest, helpful advice for anyone thinking about making the big move to Nashville. Spoiler: it’s okay to not go out every single night—rest is part of the grind, too.

We also dive into her catalogue of music, doing a little vibe check on how each release reflected where she was at in life and in her artistry.

Whether you're a fan of Canadian country, dreaming of Nashville, or just here for some good porch talk—this episode has a little something for everyone.

"You Can't Be Smart Everyday" with Taylor-Rae

Season 4 · Episode 6

mardi 25 mars 2025Duration 52:39

Send us Fan Mail

We invited Taylor-Rae back to the podcast - it’s been four years since we first chatted with her On The Porch!

It’s safe to say a lot has changed since then. Taylor-Rae has since released her EP titled Honest and started working on a brand new project that will be out this spring. She’s won BCCMA Awards for Female Artist of the Year and Song of the Year (If This Is Love). She also made her CMA Fest debut in 2024.

Taylor-Rae also made some “Alberta Plan” with tour stops in Calgary and Edmonton in February, where she brought along friend, Antonio Larosa.

Her latest single “Bittersweet”, written with Lydia Sutherland, Aaron Pollock and David Evans, is about cutting off a relationship when it’s time and not dragging things out longer than necessary.

Taylor-Rae’s “Bittersweet” – The Breakup Anthem You Need to Hear …

We talked about all of this - and more, on the latest episode of On The Porch with Front Porch Music.

Just Getting Started After Playing At The Zach Bryan Quittin' Time Tour with Lucas Mason

Season 4 · Episode 5

mardi 11 mars 2025Duration 01:02:13

Send us Fan Mail

Lucas Mason grew up in a musical household - so much so that his brother is part of his band. It wasn’t until he was bound and determined to get on stage with Zach Bryan, and it actually happening, that he began to crave a career performing.

Lucas released his debut EP in January titled Almost 18, where he dives into the feelings and frustrations of being, well, 18.

It all started when Lucas went viral on TikTok for his performance at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto with Zach Bryan on the Quittin’ Time tour. In 2024, he wrote his first songs, played his first live shows, including the North of Nowhere Music Festival, and released his first EP.

RELATED: Lucas is one of our Artists to Watch in 2025 …

Our chat with Lucas was a reminder of just how long ago high school was for our entire team (sigh).

Now, Lucas is working on more music and has released his brand new single “Messed Up Kid”.

You can follow Lucas Mason on Instagram and TikTok.
