Episode 66: Get to Know Your Vet - Dr. Judy Morgan

mardi 23 décembre 2025Duration 56:24

This year, I had the privilege to meet some of you in Florida and Mallorca where I was presenting, and I also became friends with some of my colleagues vets and healers, I never met in person before.

Connecting with likeminded people is the reason I’m starting something new.

A new interview series I’m calling Get to Know Your Vet (GTKYV) 🐾

Each episode is a fun, relaxed, informal conversation between me and a fellow veterinarian.

But here is something different. Of course we talk dogs, but we also talk about our lives, feelings and what we do outside of work. We talk about life, our values, mistakes and lessons learned.

When you watch, I want you to feel like the three of us are sitting together, sharing stories and ideas, not being “taught” or sold anything.

Why does this matter?

Because I feel you deserve to know your vets! I thought it would be nice for your to know why we do what we do. What the question, and why we changed our mind about medicine, nutrition and healing in general.

My hope is that these conversations help you feel even more connected and supported on your dog’s health journey.

Not just because you’re getting information, but because you’re getting to know the humans beyond the vet talk.

That’s what Get to Know Your Vet is really about.

It feels especially meaningful to begin this series with someone I respect deeply and is also a great conference organizer and the community connector, Dr. Judy Morgan.

This episode goes far beyond veterinary medicine. It’s about values, marriage, grief, boundaries, leadership, and what happens when we slow down enough to truly listen.

I hope you enjoy it as much as we did ❤️

Episode 56: Is Your Dog’s Walk Enough? The Truth About Canine Fitness & Health

vendredi 25 avril 2025Duration 32:38

Hello, my fellow dog lovers! In this episode, I dive into what it really takes to keep our dogs mobile, happy, and healthy for MANY years to come.

Inspired by my own dogs, I share decades of veterinary experience and answer your most pressing questions:

➡️ Are leash walks enough?
➡️ How much exercise does your dog really need?
➡️ How can you prevent injuries, especially in seniors, puppies, and high-energy breeds?

I’ll break down the hidden dangers of certain exercise, how to tailor fitness for every age and size, and why variety—not just repetition—is key. Plus, I reveal the crucial role of nutrition, the truth about spaying/neutering and ligament injuries, and my favorite products and supplements for joint support too.

Whether you’re worried about over-exercising, want to help your overweight dog, or need tips for safe puppy play, this episode is packed with practical advice you can use right away. Let’s keep our dogs moving, strong, and pain-free together!

Key Highlights

  • Variety in exercise is critical for injury prevention and overall health—leash walks alone aren’t enough.
  • Proper nutrition, including homemade or raw diets and targeted supplements, is essential for joint and muscle health.
  • Injury prevention in dogs requires a mindful approach to exercise, regular check-ins with professionals, and understanding breed-specific needs.

3 Essential Tips

  • For senior dogs, maintain regular movement and avoid under-exercising to prevent muscle loss and joint issues.
  • Puppies need play and short walks but should avoid long hikes and high-impact activities until they’re fully grown.
  • Watch for early signs of discomfort or pain—behavior changes, licking joints, or reluctance to move—and consult a professional.

Episode 52: A Veterinarian's Perspective on Health, Surgery, and Healing

jeudi 6 mars 2025Duration 26:08

Hey, dog lovers! In this episode, I’m sharing a deeply personal journey—one that I hope will help you make informed medical decisions for yourself and your dog.

After discovering a lump in my salivary gland, I navigated the complex process of seeking medical advice, getting second opinions, and ultimately undergoing surgery. Along the way, I learned valuable lessons about advocating for the best possible care, asking the right questions, and staying proactive in the face of uncertainty.

As a veterinarian, I’ve always believed that decision-making in medicine—whether for our dogs, our children, or ourselves—follows similar principles. I’ll take you through my thought process, the differences I noticed between medical systems, and the emotions that come with facing a health challenge.

My hope is that this episode gives you insight and confidence when making important medical choices for yourself and your pets.
