Town Hall's artistic director Melay Araya joins Alec to discuss what her job entails when producing the one night only event to celebrate the innovative Korean Guitarist and Film Composer Byeong Woo Lee. Town Hall presents a specially curated double feature that includes a BYEONG WOO LEE GUITAR CONCERT and a film screening with live score accompaniment to BONG JOON-HO'S MOTHER (2009). Melay describes the collaborative efforts involved in the double feature event from Pulitzer Prize-winning conductor Tania León to an orchestra assembled by the Harlem Chamber Players, and Byeong Woo Lee's titanic efforts at re-orchestrating the score to MOTHER, performing it, and even composing all-new material for the film's ONE NIGHT ONLY LIVE SCORE EVENT.

CARYN COLEMAN is the founder and executive director of THE FUTURE OF FILM IS FEMALE — the non-profit org supporting women and non-binary filmmakers in all stages of production with a focus on getting their shorts and features on the silver screen. She is a film programmer who screens contemporary and repertory films in NYC, LA, ATL, and Portland, Oregon. She is also the former Director of Programming at Nitehawk Cinema who was responsible for bringing several festivals there including The Brooklyn Horror Film Festival, Nitehawk Shorts Fest, and NoBudge.
