Ken in Portland, CT emailed a photo: "Marc, my bagpipe band played several gigs , one of which was at the Portland CT Ale House pictured here. I am next to bass drummer second to the right wearing the brown driving cap inflatable leprechaun"
Mitchell Dobrenen Family emailed a couple photos from Greenville, SC: "He prefers to lie down to listen."
José Teixeira emailed: "Hi Marc! I have started listening you podcast for some time now, a bit by accident when I was searching for music podcasts. For a long time I've been attracted by Celtic culture, that has influenced by some way the culture of northern Portugal, where I was born. My wife, though she was born in the south of the country - its a small country : - ) - also enjoys Celtic art, and suddenly our eldest son was playing Galician bag pipe, what came by a surprise because there's no tradition of instrument playing in our families.
By the way, we now we live in Sintra (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sintra). Usually, I listen to you and the good music that you share during the weekend, while I take care of our garden or during my chores.
About the end of Google Podcasts, there's a quite good alternative that I have been using at least for the last couple of years. It's called AntennaPod (https://antennapod.org/) and I sure it can help some of your android listeners. Obrigado pelo teu bom trabalho (Thank you for you good work). José"

I and the Cosgroves have really enjoyed episode 660! I was cooking up a fine dinner with plenty of Irish stew while the episode was playing on the speakers... and the most common phrase we said was, "Who is this?" Wow. The Low Kings, The Drowsy Lads, Fialla, The Crowfoot Rakes, Blackthorn, Conor Mallon, Fig for a Kiss, and Luas.... Love 'em all.
Thank you for turning us on to these and many others. We have a lot of favourites who are played regularly on the show.

Jackie Wassilie emailed: “So..just listened to my first podcast..it was the absolute fastest hour! Totally entertaining in my early quiet morning hour. Awesomeness!”
Ryan Weyls shared a photo from Wolfe Tones in Norwalk, CT on March 13: “Hi Marc, here's a photo of the Wolfe Tones from what they say is their last tour of the US. In a nod to our modern era, they had a keyboardist playing bass lines and synth strings, and a laptop was visible onstage as well. The Mac might have been for the slide show or a click track, or both. I'd prefer a live bassist but their extra man made it work with his Roland. Have a great weekend.
Patrick Rieger emailed photos right before St Patrick’s Day: “Hello Marc,
Celtic Pittsburgh was part of the Saint Patrick's Day parade for the first time this year, and it was also my first parade on such a scale. I was part of two tiny parades for other occasions, but nothing like this. Pittsburgh Public Safety estimated 200,000 spectators would be lining the 1.4 miles route, and it certainly looked it. Emerging from under a railroad bridge to reach the start of the parade route and seeing the sides of the streets of downtown Pittsburgh packed with so many people cheering and whooping was a thrill. Some people were even watching from a parking garage.
We had seven people marching. Three members marched, as well as some people who volunteered to march with us. Two people were from the Lady MacGregor Lodge #73 of the Daughters of Scotia based in Youngwood, PA.
Besides groups honoring Irish and Celtic culture, there were other groups in the parade, including a Ghostbusters fan group.
The radio program who interviewed Susan Borowski and I, The Saturday Light Brigade, asked people downtown for the parade to call in and let them know how the parade was going, so I called while we were waiting in the staging area.
I have attached some photos, most to show the size of the crowd, and one of the reviewing stand.”

Bob Shea AKA Nurse Bob emailed: "Hey there. Loving your podcast. I am walking through the fields, around sheep, cows, stone walls, sunshine and Irelands magnificent nature. I’m on the Dingle Way. From Florida, I did the Saint Declan‘s Way last week and this week it’s the Dingle way. Thanks for keeping me company! Thanks again. I am gliding along with your music. Makes the hills easier to horse through."
Kyle Hayes emailed: "I'm very excited that you're going to be at the highland games in TN. I went the first time when I was 12, back in 2001 or so. It's when I got hooked on bagpipes, celtic music etc. I even had plans to join the Nashville pipe band, but didn't have time due to other activies. Now I'm teaching English in Mexico City and found out in May that there are pipe bands here, so I'm taking lessons so I can join them. Surprisingly, the pipe band I'll be joining as large crowds when they perform; there are also a number of celtic bands here as well. Enjoy Tennessee, I wish I could be there!"
Anne Lorkowski posted a photo on Facebook after I posted a picture of me running on the beach. She writes: "What a coincidence, I’m listening to the new episode while running along the beach in Fiji! Oh did I say running? My bad, I’m actually drinking a pina colada during happy hour. Sláinte and Bula! 😊"

Alexander Randall 5th emailed: “Marc: I was delighted to hear the Achendoun set by Chivalrous Crickets. Their handling of the Bonnie Prince Charlie March is the best I have ever heard. It is so energetic that I began to think, "If I were on my death bed, I'd want to hear this. If my hand taps my thigh, then I am still alive, but if not, then I am dead."
This got me to thinking what would my "deathbed playlist" include? If I am in hospice and on the verge of death and a band were to come into my room to play music, what would I want on that list?
The Chivalrous Crickets playing this Auchendoun set would top the list.
St. Anne's Reel would be next.
Capricalle playing Argyle Ladies is third...
Miller's Maggot
All from your podcast!!!
I wish I could get a read on the third part of this attached tune. It starts as the humoresque and ends with one of the coolest riffs ever... The liner notes say "An Old Man Comes in and Sits Down" I wish I knew where to find other versions of this...
Thank you for reading what your listeners say.”
He followed that up with another email: “The Old Man Walks Into The Room And Sits Down’
I found one recording of this by Celtic stone.
DId anyone else record this?”
Woodland Folk sent pictures of what he described as Eden. See those pictures in the shownotes.

Elizaveta Lapteva sent photos: "Hi, Marc!
My name is Liza and I am from Russia (unfortunately), I have recently discovered your podcast and I would like to say thank you for what you are doing. I love Celtic music, songs and dances, also picked up some piano notes when visiting Scotland. Utterly magnificent sounds and composition. I enjoy listening to your podcast while I am walking through the woods near my country house or collect berries there. It helps me to escape from the harsh reality and just meditate in the great outdoors.
I sent you some photos of our my favourite places"
Thank you for emailing Liza. I appreciate you sharing those beautiful photos. And I hope you stay safe in this terrible period of history.
Rex Edwards emailed: “Marc. Long time fan and podcast subscriber. You provide the modern and I’m a long time supporter of Alan OLeary and his trad podcast on liveIreland.com which I think has hit hard times. He has great connections to the old timers. Don’t know if you’ve heard of him but any visibility you could give him would be great. He’s always asking to share with friends but that would require me making friends. Your show is a great delight and many thanks. Rex”

We are enjoying the music of the women of Celtic music this week on the podcast. There are some who continue to devalue women and strip them of their rights. But this podcast believes strongly that women too need representation. That’s why I play at least one podcast a quarter highlighting the women of Celtic music. And I’ll be honest. That’s not nearly enough.
FairPle is an organization based in Ireland that seeks to achieve gender balance in the production, performance, promotion, and development of Irish traditional and folk music. They advocate for equal opportunity and balanced representation for all. A recent look at the top festivals in Ireland revealed that less than a quarter of all musicians featured at festivals were women. Headliners are even less.
And I get it. Again, I do this feature on women in Celtic music every quarter. That’s not a lot. I hope to increase the number of these shows and to continue to highlight Celtic women. But it’s a tough process with my time constraints. If you have ideas or suggestions or want to help, make something happen, please drop me a line.
And make sure you sign up for the FairPle.com website for more details about the work they are doing.
