If all you can say about your art is how you made it, you're missing the point. Process isn't connection. And connection is everything. 

Too many artists default to the "recipe list" when asked about their work. "I used bright colors, layered some texture, tried a new medium …" That's safe. That's surface-level. That's BORING. 

In today's episode, I'm calling out the truth: "good enough" art is dead art. Social media pressures, perfectionism, and fear of vulnerability can sneak in and steal the soul from our work. And when that happens, collectors don't connect, communities don't resonate, and even we as artists stop feeling excited about our creations.

What's better as an artist; positive feedback or criticism? BOTH! You need positive feedback to feel supported and find the motivation to continue on with your work. But you also need "negative" (aka constructive) criticism to learn how to grow as an artist. 

But that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt! After all, you pour your heart and soul into your work. You can't help but feel that type of critique is personal, right? 

That's why in this episode, I'm going to talk about how we can learn to embrace seemingly "negative" feedback, how to hold onto positive feedback, and why you should hold neither in too high of regard!

I'm going to go bold here and say as artists, there's no such thing as balance. The lines between work and play are constantly getting blurred because our work IS play. 

And when you're trying to juggle creating the best work you possibly can, work you're PROUD of, with all the responsibilities that come with running a business…you really need something besides balance. You need ALIGNMENT.
