For our first podcast of the year we welcomed the extremely accomplished Alison Curdt! Alison is 1 of 2 women (!!) to be a dual master professional in both the PGA and LPGA, she has her doctorate in psychology and a very decorated career in golf. We welcomed Fanny Sunesson to the Fore the Ladies podcast as our latest Ladies of Golf feature. Fanny was a professional golf caddie and is probably the most decorated female caddie in the sport. She has caddied for Sir Nick Faldo, Henrik Stenson and Adam Scott amongst others in a career that spanned nearly 3 decades and 750 tournaments. She is known for her incredible preparation and worked with Nick Faldo to win 4 major championships over their 9 years together. A huge thank you to everyone who has listened to the podcast in 2020. It’s been so much fun for us to work on and it wouldn’t be successful without all of you!

This episode is a bit of a mixed bag: We have a Ladies of Golf feature with Samantha Marks and a U.S. Women's Open preview that feels like a Golf 101. Samantha shares with us her golf story and then we break down everything from the U.S. Women's Open field, Champions Golf Club, who to watch, what it's like playing in the major and so much more.

In celebration of Giving Tuesday, the FTL pod shines light on non-profit organizations making golf a better sport. After Abby shares some of her favorites, she welcomes Symetra Tour player Emmy Martin to the podcast to talk about her amazing organization: Played with Heart. Played with Heart equips the next generation of female golfers with the essentials needed to play the game. Emmy and Played with Heart collect donations across the country and package them up to give to participants of LPGA*USGA Girls Golf. I'll let her tell the rest of the story, but we were so inspired by her acts of kindness and we hope you are too.

For our third lesson, we asked Roger Steele to be our instructor and answer, 'WTF is Golf Slang?' We covered everything from phrases people use on the golf course to terms like 'mulligan,' 'breakfast ball,' 'knockdown,' 'dew sweeping,' 'mashed potatoes,' 'puuuure' and so much more. Take notes y'all and you'll be ready for your next round. Note: Abby's fiance interrupts the pod near the end of the pod and laughter ensues. We just didn't feel like removing it.

In our next installment of Golf 101, Gabby Weiss from Pinehurst Resort & CC shares the unwritten rules of golf etiquette. Abby and Gabby (ha) frame the conversation as playing a golf hole from tee to green. Abby is joined by Gabby Weiss, Assistant Golf Professional at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club for the first episode of Golf 101: WTF is Golf? They talk about the objective of the sport, different formats you can play, the various parts of the golf course and so much more. Gabby will join us for future episodes to share details about equipment, the scorecard and golf slang. We’ll figure this sport out together!
