If you’re north of here, that probably sounds like an attractive deal, compared to the climate towns like Minneapolis and Toronto have been coping with over a similar span. Here’s hoping this healthy hockey - and football - chat, between your co-hosts, Jeff Taylor and Jordan DeFigio brings the “Gezelligheid.”

The Penguins are in Vegas tonight, then in Arizona on Monday. Today’s episode catches you up on all the hockey the Pens have played since an impressive 6-5 regulation win on Boston ice, a little more than two weeks ago.

It’s a HOCKEY NIGHT!!!! Innnnnnn PITTSBURGH!!!! The Blues are here to take on Sidney Crosby and the Penguins. Last time Missouri’s NHL franchise were in town, the Pens came from behind in a tough-fought victory over a team who did just about anything they could to get under Pittsburgh’s skin - literally - including a brawl that led to a bleeding cut on the bridge of 87’s nose. It wasn’t a good game plan for Berube’s Blues, though, as the Penguins emerged with a 5-3 comeback W and, in the words of Josh Getzoff, a “2-pt Party on 5th Ave.”

Kris Letang is out, indefinitely, after suffering a second stroke. His first was back in 2014, due in part to a condition relating to his heart. Wishing Kris and his family all the best.

Today on the program I’m joined by Liz Knox, Clarkson Cup Champion goalie with the Markham Thunder and founding board member with the PWHPA. Liz and I sat down in Team Sonnet’s locker room at UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex, for a great conversation on all things Women’s Professional Hockey. Special thanks to Ashley Taylor for co-hosting today, as well as to Olympic Gold medalists Kristen Campbell and Genevieve Lacasse, both of whom granted me some post-game time at the Dream Gap Tour event. Every time "the train reaches its station," and every night the  Penguins throw themselves a "2-pt party on Fifth Ave.," you know who was behind the microphone: Josh Getzoff. The seat he holds once belonged to the Hall of Famer: Mike Lange; that fact alone tells you  Getzoff is a truly remarkable, special human being. This extended conversation which I was lucky enough to have, in person with Josh, will give you a pretty good peek behind the curtain as to the origins of his career in broadcasting, as well as some non-hockey material including a fun chat we had about … music! Olympic champions like Marie Philip Poulin, Hilary Knight, and Sarah Nurse will be in the house, along with a ton of other top-tier talent from all corners of North America. When the day is done and I’ve watched TWO full games featuring some of the best women’s players ever to lace up hockey skates, I’ll probably sink into my sofa at home and enjoy the Pens game on 105.9theX.
