How Lando dominated, why Max struggled and Ferrari's surprise podium - 2024 Dutch GP Review

lundi 26 août 2024Duration 59:48

Tom Clarkson, Red Bull Sim Racing driver Jarno Opmeer and F1.com Editor Greg Stuart debrief after Lando Norris' dominant victory at the Dutch Grand Prix.

Up for discussion in this episode: how did Lando manage to win by nearly 23 seconds, and why did Max Verstappen and Red Bull have no answer to the pace of the McLaren? Ferrari's Charles Leclerc scored a podium, but the team is struggling to understand how that happened after a difficult qualifying. Why did Mercedes, recent race winners, slip back in Zandvoort?

What was the key to Pierre Gasly's top 10 performance at Alpine? Jack Doohan will be his 2025 teammate; the Australian tells Tom how he was told the news and explains his preparations for his Formula 1 debut.

It's all to drive for in 2024. Be there:

Max’s best season so far? Will McLaren or Mercedes end the champ’s home dominance? – 2024 Dutch GP Preview

lundi 19 août 2024Duration 38:54

Formula 1 is back! Tom Clarkson is joined by De Telegraaf journalist Erik van Haren to discuss all the big talking points as the 2024 season resumes at the Dutch Grand Prix.

Max Verstappen has won his home race three years in a row, but the championship leader is without a victory in the last four this season. Will he return to winning ways in front of the orange army? Or will McLaren and Mercedes continue their impressive form to end the Dutchman’s dominance in Zandvoort?

Tom also asks Erik if this year has been Max’s best season in Formula 1 to date and whether his future in the sport lies away from Red Bull Racing.

Max to win in ‘Red Bull territory’? Mercedes + Aston on the up? Antonelli ready for F1? – 2024 Spanish Grand Prix Preview

lundi 17 juin 2024Duration 56:28

This weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix kicks off a very exciting triple header for Formula 1, as the European leg of the season gets into full swing with three races in two weeks.

Tom Clarkson is joined by 1996 World Champion Damon Hill to discuss who will be the big winners in Barcelona, Austria and Silverstone.

After two tracks that have exposed their weaknesses, is Max Verstappen favourite to win the next three races in ‘Red Bull territory’? What lessons do McLaren need to learn from Montreal? Are Ferrari going to struggle again in Spain? And will Mercedes be competitive for the rest of the season?

Plus, Aston Martin Performance Director Tom McCullough joins the pod to discuss the challenges of the Circuit de Catalunya, where Aston will be strongest in the upcoming races, and whether age really matters following the news that 17-year-old Kimi Antonelli could make his F1 debut sooner than expected.

Red Bull reign in Spain - Spanish GP review ft. Christian Horner + Carlos Sainz Snr

mardi 24 mai 2022Duration 40:14

The Spanish Grand Prix was an old-school, drama-filled fiesta. Charles Leclerc led the race early on, until unreliability struck his Ferrari, which left Max Verstappen to take his fourth win of the year. But it was far from easy for Max: his race included a spin, a DRS failure and a breathtaking battle for the lead with George Russell. You read that right: Merc were back in Barca! Russell took the final podium place behind Sergio Perez in the second Red Bull. Tom Clarkson is joined by Alex Wurz, three time finisher in F1 and two-time winner of Le Mans, and Natalie Pinkham to assess the drama that unfolded over 66 laps. This week's guest line up includes Red Bull's Christian Horner and Adrian Newey, Mercedes’ chief engineer Andrew Shovlin, Pirelli boss Mario Isola, Ferrari test driver Marc Gené and Carlos Sainz Snr.
