Redfreya is a London-based DJ who's been making a name for herself on the UK and international club scene for several years now, supporting some huge names in the industry whilst holding down a popular radio show and curating her own ‘Redfreya & friends’ eventsin London. She also sometimes DJs alongside her friend @rebecca_gough11 as the duo @rreykasound. In this episode we talk about her journey to success and the lessons she’s learnt - particularly about the needto be good to yourself - as well as getting a few exclusives in regards to some exciting projects she’s got in the pipeline.

James Harcourt has been making electronic music since the early 2000s but after a number of years in the musical wilderness, made a resurgence a few years back and has since gone from strength to strength, releasing consistently on labels such as Renaissance, Selador, Sum over histories and Siamese to name a few.

Channan Hanif is a London born and based producerof Pakistani heritage who's been quietly building a name for himself over the last year or so with the likes of respected DJ/producers LaurentGarnier, Hardt Antoine, Sahar,  REj,Faide, Samantha Loveridge and Auggie playing out his tracks. His debut ep was recently released on Spanish label Anims and his track 'Gimme Some!' has been tearing up dancefloors worldwide. Having initially met in a club toilet in 2015 (listen to theconversation for the full story on this!), Luke Folks and Owen Griffithsimmediately bonded over similar tastes in music and soon formed the duo Monica.

From their early beginnings on Brighton's Codesouth Radio, they quickly forged a reputation DJing on the Brighton club circuit, playing for the likes of AVOY, Berlin-Brighton, The Lucas Phenomena and Search Party, as well as putting on their own night Foucault, which has seen them book the likes of respectedartists such as Aera, Skatman, Manpower and DC Salas .Over the past couple of years, their hard work and commitment to developing their own sound has finally come to fruition, with releases on labels such as Reculture, Applied Magic andmore recently, Eastern Standard.

Listen to them chat candidly with podcast host Richard Q about their approach to producing music as a duo as well as the challenges and moments of self-doubt they’ve faced along the way. This is definitely one for any producers or promoters out there trying to make it in the dance music biz at the moment.

In this episode, I’m in conversation with promoters Roberta and Sara, the two brains behind the successful club night Nebula, a night that has gone from strength to strength in its first year since opening their doors to the London club scene. With their 1st year anniversary just around the corner, I chat to them about their experiences so far, the challenges they faced and what’s in store for the future of Nebula. 

In this episode, I’m in conversation with Spanish producer Adrian Roman, whose body of work so far has been released on revered labels such as Isolate, MoBlack, Microcastle and Equanimity. Described as one of the leading lights of the ‘Vanguardist’ house scene, Adrian’s music has been championed by respected artists such as Dixon, Aera and Trikk to name a few.

In this episode, I’m in conversation with London-based producer/DJ REj who originally hails from Gibraltar. Having released on labels such as Applied Magic, Reculture, Metrica and Sum Over Histories, REj is an artist whose name is very much on the rise in 2023 and his tracks been played out across the globe by heavy-weights such as Ame, Aera, Hardt Antoine and Alican.

To kick off this podcast series, I talk to Brighton-based (UK) artist Faide, who has had a number of successful releases and remixes on labels such as Reculture, Stil Vor Talent, Frau Blau and Plano B Records as well as curating his Brighton night AVOY (All Versions of You) which have seen distinguished DJs and producers such as Sahar, Nick Castle, Joone and Kadosh headline.
Amongst other things, we chat about his approach to music production, his influences, the growing melodic house and techno scene in the UK, social media and his cat Malcom.

In this episode, I talk to Italian producer Maicol MP. With a string of productions, collaborations and remixes under his belt on labels such as Surrealism, Terranova, Kindisch, Future Frequencies and Ephemeral, Maicol is a name that is very much on the rise in the current melodic house and techno scene. His biggest release to date – Lilac Flame – came out earlier this year in the form of a collaboration with Iranian producer Hamoon which was released on the Surrrealism label’s ‘Speechless II’ VA. With its dark, moody percussive arrangements and melodies, the track was a hit in the clubs with scene heavyweights Trikk, Aera and fellow Italian Ivory playing it out.Maicol’s next ep, produced alongside long-time collaborator Steedo, is due out soon on Metrica and in this podcast, you get to hear an exclusive preview of their track ‘Ant’s March’, which to date has only been played out by Trikk b2b with Jimi Jules at the Innervisions Offsonar event in Barcalona 2022.Follow the podcast on instagram:@electric_communion
