his podcast episode is PACKED full of information about how to become an architect, where the industry is headed and what it is like to build in NYC.

I might be a little biased but this is one of my favorite episodes. Farah and I have so much in common when it comes to having a passion for buildings and the environment.

Farah is a licensed architect who is also a published author in multiple magazines and online blogs. She is a wealth of knowledge for not only how to be an architect but being passionate and technical beyond what your field requires.

Our guest this week goes by technically.a.techie online or Constanza. She is known for her videos about honest reviews of women's fashion. Her IG is filled with funny and relatable reels about being a women wearing a hardhat. 

As a groundwater surveyor, Constanza spends many hours out in the field under all conditions. Living in Canada she values finding warm clothing. She's created a passion project of sharing her experiences and helping women find workwear that fits.

Mentorship is an important part to creating a culture where women join STEM and stay in STEM fields. Toni discusses how she uses the organizations at Purdue University and class she teaches to create mentorship programs.   

Toni is a special mentor to me,  in college I worked with Toni as president of the Women in Technology club on Purdue’s campus. She was actually one of the first people that I pitched the idea of this podcast to!

Carol has become a full time career coach helping women focus on defining success in their careers. On this episode we talk about ways to use a career coach and how to know if its the right time for you to find one.

Carol's worked over 15+ years in construction and now wants to take her knowledge to  helping women find a career in construction they enjoy.

The remainder of season two Doin' Girly Things will be focused on answering the question: How to we encourage and retain women in construction to aid the labor shortage and empower generations.

Season two is focused on organizations, people and ideas that are focused to keeping women in construction. Kara has become a full time CEO a wonderful organization called Black Girls Do Engineering focused on getting black girls ages 9-20 interested in STEM.

Kara's biggest drive is so her girls will be surrounded by black women in their careers. Kara have girls that she hopes to raise into strong women in STEM.

This year Black Girls do Engineer has 70 girls they are sponsoring. If you would like to volunteer to sponsor an event or a girl please reach out to Kara.

Through the podcast I've met so many inspiring women that are taking over their father's construction company. Most kids grow up and dream of working away from their parents, but not Michelle. 

She knew that she was going to work at her dad’s construction business building houses. 

Michelle is a part of a growing number of women that are following in their dad’s construction footsteps.

As a general contractor in Texas, Michelle also helped the family business by getting her real estate and broker licenses. 

This allows her to sell the homes that her family’s business builds. 

Michelle also is able to learn from the experiences of her dad, and tries to help him move the business into the future.
