We finally have official confirmation of the new villains at this year’s Oogie Boogie Bash. Dr. Doofenshmirtz from Phineas and Ferb is meeting and greeting in the Disney Jr. theater, and Hades, replacing Cruella in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot. Every holiday season, the culinary team at Disneyland brings us the Haunted Mansion Holiday Gingerbread House. The Disney Parks Blog posted a behind-the-scenes look at what it took this year to bring the gingerbread house to life, and how the design came about. Magic Key holders have a lot of perks at the moment for the holidays. A new exclusive trading card will be released each week from August 26th through September 19th on Monday through Thursday. A Magic Shot featuring Yzma from The Emperor’s New Groove is by the Matterhorn August 19th through September 14th. Construction will soon begin on the expanded Avengers Campus early next year, so some clearing needs to happen backstage. Unfortunately, one of the (hopefully) temporary casualties of this is the Red Car Trolly. The maintenance barn for the trolly is where the new Avengers Infinity Defense attraction will be constructed, so it needs to be taken down. A missing treat has returned to Disney California Adventure! The Choco Smash Bar was taken off the Pym Test Kitchen menu last year, replaced by the cake version. Magic Happens had it’s last performance recently, and in it’s place is a new offering. The Halloween Cavalcade is a short production with a couple of Main Street vehicles and a float with characters in their Halloween costumes. Some quick construction updates from around the resort. The Haunted Mansion extended queue is starting to take shape with the main walls of the new section looking pretty far along in construction. The gift shop at the end of the attraction has begun vertical construction. The transformation into Bayou Country from Critter Country is progressing nicely, along with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which is testing off and on. News:
A main walkway has reopened in Disneyland. The path from Haunted Mansion to Galaxy’s Edge has reopened to guests. This also allows the Hungry Bear restrooms to be open to guests again. The path goes through what is now known as Bayou Country, formerly Critter Country. With the Haunted Mansion welcoming guests again, two more attractions will be going down soon for refurbishment. “it’s a small world” will close on September 16th to install the holiday overlay and update lighting and general show maintenance. It will reopen on November 15th for the Holidays. Also on September 16th, the Jungle Cruise will be closing for expected refurbishment and rebuilding the area around the tiger. Recently there was an update in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom to the Peter Pan attraction to update the Never Land tribe scene. The updated scene now depicts brightly colored teepees and a harvest celebration with Tiger Lily and her grandmother performing a traditional Fancy Shawl Butterfly Dance. It is just past mid-August, and some Halloween touches have appeared around the resort. Late last week, a lot of Buena Vista Street and Cars Land decorations had been put in place for Halloween. By the start of this week, Pumpkin Mickey has been installed on Main Street, and Oogie Boogie has adorned the entrance to Disney California Adventure. – Disneyland Update: Attractions Where? In previous years, the “A Musical Celebration of Coco” show was performed back by the Paradise Gardens Park, which turns into the Plaza de la Familia. This year, the show is getting some updates and a new name. “The Storytellers of Plaza de la Familia Celebrate the Musical World of Coco!” will feature some new costumes, and an updated story. When we were in the parks a couple of weeks ago, a popular item had returned to the resort, drawing large lines. The build your own headbands have returned with some upcoming additions for the spooky season. Out in Walt Disney World, there will be a Villains land soon, but Disneyland has something Villains themed now! Magic Keyholders can purchase a special stainless-steel tumbler at select quick service locations. With Disneyland being located in California, it is always possible for the earth to move beneath your feet. On August 12, around 12:20pm, a 4.6 magnitude earthquake struck the Los Angeles area. We were in the parks then and did not feel this. An update on Porto’s coming to Downtown Disney: According to Business Wire, Porto’s is officially opening in the shopping district in 2025. We have some Tomorrowland news! However, it isn’t as exciting as it sounds. Disney Vacation Club members will have a new lounge in Disneyland. Star View Station will have a mid-century space theme and have areas for seating, device charging, free wi-fi and more. It will be located on the second floor of what is now the Star Wars Launch Bay. The official start to Halloween at the resorts is just a couple of days away! Many of the decorations are up for guests to enjoy. The Mickey Pumpkin was installed on Main Street, Carsland is decked out for the holiday, and decor for Oogie Boogie bash can been see too! The Redwood Creek Challenge Trail is currently being transformed into Villains Grove however the train is open during the day for guests to enjoy with more decor added nightly. The two new villains coming to Oogie Boogie Bash have their stages set up. Reservations are now open for the Oogie Boogie Bash Dessert party! Guests will get to enjoy some halloween themed desserts and beverages, while sitting in a preferred seating area for the Frightfully Fun Parade. We have been waiting all summer to hear about the renewal options for the Magic Key program and finally got it this week! Each level of Magic Key will see a price increase from as little as $50, to as much as $200 for the high end key. The Dream Key, which was the top end key when the program started and had no blockout dates has been retired and replaced with a Inspire key, priced at $1599. Disney Parks, Experiences and Products reported quarterly revenue of $7.4 billion, up from $4.3 billion a year earlier. Last year, Disney Cruise Line was still shut down and the parks were still recovering, but this is still great news. However, there was one comment that made Disneyland fans upset. They stated that Genie+ and Lightning Lane increased the per capita ticket revenue, “partially offset by an unfavorable attendance mix at Disneyland Resort.” This led to Magic Key holders getting upset online about being unfavorables. – https://www.micechat.com/329833-disneyland-update-the-unfavorables-halloween-screams-toontown-secrets/ MagicBand+ hasn’t come to Disneyland just yet, but there is already a new interactive game under construction that uses the technology. Batuu Bounty Hunters has already launched in Walt Disney World’s version of Batuu, and will launch at Disneyland when the MagicBand+ system launches by the end of the year. The game will require the Play Disney Parks app and a MagicBand+. The MagicBand+ will change colors depending on if you are heading in the right direction and change to purple when the bounty is found. Images posted on Instagram show two Autopia vehicles had somehow been driven on top of one of the concrete barriers. This would have been extremely difficult to do by accident as the cars are limited to 5mph. The two vehicles appeared to have been pushed up onto the concrete by colliding into one another. Docking Bay 7 will have the new menu items starting the day this episode goes live. The items include a new Cold Brew with Taro Topper, which is a nitro cold brew topped with sweet Taro cream. Each straw costs $1, and the DIsney Food Blog reports that they don’t get mushy like the paper straws.
