"Quiet is a Place I Return To" | Sarah Clarkson (EP02)

mercredi 12 février 2025Duration 31:33

In a distracted world driven by many screens and ceaseless activity, many struggle with a restless, disquiet mind. We yearn deeply for inward rootedness and calm, yet the cultivation of quiet often feels abstract and out-of-reach. Yet quiet is, and always has been, essential to life.

Creating a Worldwide Movement Simply By Stepping Outside | Ginny Yurich (EP01)

lundi 10 février 2025Duration 43:30

In this first episode of 'Clear Intentions’ (formerly the Minimalist Moms podcast) I reconnect with friend, Ginny Yurich - the founder of 1000 Hours Outside. In this conversation we cover how she juggles multiple roles as a homeschooling mom, author, and outdoor advocate. What does she outsource? If anything? I had to know! And, of course, I couldn’t let Ginny go without discussing ways to spend our time outdoors - specifically she discusses encouragement for teenagers, tired moms and for those living in colder environments.

Minimalism as a Tool to Discovering Purpose | Sarah Horgan (EP375)

mardi 14 janvier 2025Duration 44:20

Joining me for today's episode is host of the Simple Intentional Podcast, Sarah Horgan. After a stage four cancer diagnosis ten years ago, Sarah found herself reevaluating her life, leading her to embrace a minimalist lifestyle and confront perfectionism and people-pleasing habits.During our conversation, Sarah opens up about how this life-altering experience helped her discover a deeper sense of purpose and how significant life events, such as losing a loved one, can bring clarity and inspire change. She shares practical strategies for decluttering your life, staying mindful amidst the challenges of motherhood, and focusing on incremental progress to achieve long-term goals. Minimalism isn't just an aesthetic, rather it can be a tool to discover greater purpose and clarity in life.

About Sarah |

Sarah is a full-time working mom + wife, who lived with clutter and found her way to the other side. She radically changed her own life after a stage 4 cancer diagnosis. Forced to examine everything, including her perfectionism and people pleasing, she realized all the stuff (and not just the physical stuff) was standing in her way of living her life, her way.

After embracing minimalism and finding her way to simplicity, Sarah started simple + intentional to support other women to do the same. She encourages + inspires others through her instagram account, podcast and online membership community.

Sarah lives in Toronto with her husband and daughter. She loves the outdoors, a strong cup of tea and is following her dreams, one step at a time.

Helping Our Kids Get Organized with Laurie Palau (REPLAY)

jeudi 28 décembre 2023Duration 30:45

This week, I bring you my interview with Laurie Palau from Simply B Organized. Laurie Palau. Laurie will give us some insight as to how she has created this community but we’ll specifically be discussing organization with children. We may have the highest hopes for getting our homes organized but then we must deal with the clutter that derives from our kiddos. How do we encourage our kids without coming across as a nag? How do we set boundaries as our kids age? How do we implement new rules with our older, high school aged children? Laurie will answer all of these questions and more in our interview today!

We Discuss:

  • When to begin to implement organizational strategies for our children.
  • How to remain motivating rather than nagging our children.
  • Best strategies for encouraging:
  • Adolescent children
  • Middle school children
  • High school children
  • Implementing new 'rules' for teenagers that are already established in 'their ways'
  • Setting appropriate boundaries that encourage independence but still allow adult control.

mercredi 20 décembre 2023Duration 30:14

As we approach the new year, I wanted to replay one of my favorite episodes from 2019. A lot of my current listeners may have missed this one (and even if you did hear the original, it’s a great one to re-listen to over the next couple of weeks as we begin setting intentions for the new year). This episode is full of reminders for how we can implement new, simple rhythms to combat stress/anxiety or to simply start better habits.

-----------------------------------

This week, I speak with author and national speaker, Rebekah Lyons. An old soul with a contemporary, honest voice, Rebekah reveals her own battles to overcome anxiety and depression—and invites others to discover and boldly pursue their purpose. Her work has been featured on Good Morning America, CNN, Huffington PostPublisher’s Weekly, and more. Today, she is here to speak about her most recent book, Rhythms of Renewal. We discuss the importance of rest, stepping away from technology, and creating rhythms in our day-to-day which ultimately help to renew our body and soul.

TAKEAWAYS

  • The importance of regular rest and rhythms
  • Anxiety + stress: Is there an end in sight?
  • Practical steps/changes one could make to start to overcome stress and anxiety
